Longbow Threat Report: "SB-322"

Very little solid information has been deemed accurate regarding this cyborg. Most of its origins are presently unknown. The cyborg was manufactured at (now defunct) Orion Creative Production Inc. It was intended as a prototype for the SB-322 Series Combat Droids to be marketed to approved military markets. Early marketing material is available, although the accuracy of some information contained is thought to be poor. Some pieces of information are thought to be correct however, the SB-322 designated unit is the controlling command unit for a small group of remotely controlled drones. The Drones, the SB-321, SB-310 and SB-300 series, are far more simple and have little functioning power on their own, they are intended solely to operate as "remote terminals" to the SB-322 unit. Larger, heavy combat duty SB-400 series drones where under development at the time of the destruction of the property during the accident, although no prototypes where known to exist.

The following email was recovered from a computer at the remains of Orion Creative Production:

Hey Eric,

I've uploaded the latest version of the cybernetic OS to the new prototype (version 2.6.29-ocp134),
and so far, the cybernetic couplings seem to be working exactly as expected. This stuff is really
impressive, years ahead of the competition. But look, I've got some concerns about the wetware end
of things. The guys upstairs swear up and down that the brain was vat grown and only serves as a
fuzzy logic processor -- the other night I was doing some routine diagnostics on the unit and I
noticed the brain waves were going wild, but the cybernetic computer was completely idle -- I think
the brain was dreaming! Some of the cybernetic coupling interfaces just don't add up to what I've
been told. I'll run a few tests and get back to you in the morning.

Cheers,
     Simon

This lead us to investigate a possibility that the brain was not vat grown, and possibly obtained illegally. Agents within the Vazilok organization confirmed that the sale of a human brain was made to Orion Creative Production Inc. several months before the accident occurred. Unfortunately, the buyer did not appear to be interested in who the brain was, and only asked that it be in "working condition". The following is conjecture, but it is thought that Orion Creative Production was unable to produce a functioning brain from their vat method and someone (probably working without full knowledge of his superiors) obtained the brain by other means for the purposes of reaching a marketing deadline.

According to marketing documentation, the brain exercised only very limited control over the functioning of the cyborg, and that the cyborgs behavior was programmable. The working theory is that the brain belonged to someone who possibly understood (or figured out) what had happened to them, and seemingly possessed the knowledge of how to hack the Orion Creative Production software -- which was understood to be incomplete at the time of the accident and never designed to be secure from the brain (remember the brain was intended to be a 'blank').

Current Status

The cyborg appears to be aggressively improving itself. Although the identify of the brain is still unclear (there are some possible leads) whoever it is clearly has a strong understanding of computer technology, and is at least partially insane. The cyborg should be approached with extreme caution, as dealings with it have frequently resulted in combat. It appears difficult to communicate with, often it speaks -- pardon the colloquialism -- "gibberish". Other times it appears to be capable of more clear communication and even reason. Above all this cyborg is unpredictable and dangerous.

Most recently it has been seen organizing itself with attacks on Praetoria, specifically, it appears interested in harvesting Praetorian technology and some reports suggest it has had stunning results.

Known Technical Specifications

Incomplete presently.

Marketing material suggests the cyborg chassis was to be constructed with several pieces of cutting edge technology not yet on the market. The units internal power supply is thought to be a modernized and improved ARE ("Aircraft Reactor Experiment") design made in the mid-fifties. Essentially, the material described it has a "Force-screen Bottle Thorium-Salt Micro Reactor". The present output of this reactor is unknown but the cyborg has recently been seen generating tremendous bursts of electrical energy.

The units construction is mostly impervium, making it highly resistant to damage. The internal gearing shows fairly advanced examples of "magnetic gears" rather than traditional metal gearing. Its communication and sensor capabilities are extremely advanced, the unit is capable of intercepting and decoding almost any known communication method. It has an onboard NMI ("Near Miss Indicator"), which integrates into the main detection systems, and a "Threat Probability Identification" program to avoid incoming firing with high success. The details of the TPI are presently unknown but appear effective.

The unit itself has no integrated weaponry, the unit was to ship from the factory with a internally designed pulse rifle. However, recent sightings have confirmed it has replaced it with a modified Crey pulse rifle that generates significantly more output. Crey was contacted regarding the weapons capabilities, however, Crey claimed that their model of the rifle could reach no where near the output this particular rifle has demonstrated. The marketing material lists weapon in the SB-300-type series as using pulse lasers, it is confirmed however that SB-322 has upgraded its weapons systems to use the pulse laser has a "burn path" for a plasma discharge -- this includes the Crey pulse rifle and most of the weapons used by the drones.

The brain itself is kept alive by a life support system, using a type of perflubron blood, optimized to give the brain maximum acuteness and mental agility. The perflubron mixture can be varied according to the present needs of the brain. Tubing containing this perflubron can be easily seen as the system uses an air-cooling method for temperature control, although this is unknown if that is the primary or a secondary system. During a brief engagement, a piece of this tubing was damaged and leaked a small amount before self-sealing. The life-support system appears to be capable of dealing with some degree of battle damage evidently.
