The Spirit Engine Project

The Spirit Engine project was a secret project that was disbanded on account of the units being "unreliable and erratic." They should have learned not to put children's souls in the bodies.

A spirit engine, essentially, is a robot that is piloted by a soul. The soul trap is hooked up to the core of the robot, replacing the robot's brain and giving the soul direct interface into the body.

The Spirit Engines

Helios

Helios was a teenager who died in an arson fire in the vicinity of Mercy Island some ten years ago. His soul was placed into a modified Tarantula Exoskeleton, the spirit core acting as the head of the body.

Helios was a tremendous psionic, and according to Seige, was destroyed via backfire of his powers and the body fracturing. Helios acted as the parent in the small group, being the oldest of all the spirit engines, at age 21 at the time of his second death.

Jarpkus

Jarpkus was the second engine to be built, and was built around a Bane Spider suit that had been modified with kinetic deflector units and was capable of increasing his speed until he was a red and black blur. He was a brash, hotheaded young boy, who, in his previous life, had been a sports fan. He had died in an Arachnos raid, ironically. He was always the quickest to anger, and always would defend the younger engines, Seige and Mekro.

Jarpkus supposedly escaped with Brick McCoy and Mekro after the disbanding of the project.

Mekro

Mekro was the only female soul in any of the spirit engines. She was a quiet, nonviolent girl, who was more artistic than combat-oriented. Her reaction to the body was one of shock and horror. The files suggest that she was unable to act for a month, before she came out of shock and began to move around. Her cause of death is officially unknown, but from what Helios and the other two engines got out of her was that she had been violently raped and disposed of by the Family. Thus, Seige and Jarpkus's hatred of the mob.

Mekro's body was built as a mobile repair station, with three manipulator cables coming out of her back, flamethrowers on her hands, and nanite release pods. She was equipped with flight packs, and had a habit of riding on Helios's back while the unit was out doing tasks.

Mekro supposedly escaped with Jarpkus and Brick McCoy.

Seige

Seige is the youngest of the four engines. He was a small child at the time of his death. He died in a boat accident, and was lost at sea. He does not fear water anymore, but is hesitant of it.

Seige was put in the largest suit, besides Helios. Seige's original suit stood seven feet tall, with crab arms and an exoskeletal modificaton that allowed him to roll up into a sphere, which could be piloted by a child, or a genetic dwarf, such as Brick McCoy.

Seige is technically repossessed, but is at a tentative relationship with an Arachnos repair station.
