Julia is a character with a lot of history behind her. She was originally created in early May 2005, as a part of the player-run plot "Paragon Legacy," where the future children of today's heroes came back in time to save the timeline. After that plot ended, Julia-from-the-future stuck around for several years, getting up to all kinds of adventures as my main RP character.

With CoH: Homecoming being brought online, a unique opportunity had presented itself - 2020 was the year that future-Julia was originally from. So rather than bringing back future-Julia, I decided to go ahead and start "fresh" with present day's Julia, taking her first steps as a young and impulsive superhero. She's her own person, well aware of the accomplishments of her older future-self in this timeline, eager to live up to that example as best she can.

Energy Manipulation

Firelight's primary mutation lies in her ability to manipulate energy to her whim. This includes several (if not most/all?) type of energy - electricity, heat, kinetic (motion), radiation, etc. She acts as a conduit for energy, redirecting the flow of it, often pulling energy to herself, converting it, and tossing it back out in the form of barriers, attacks, or support.

There's no upper limit to how much energy she can control - at least, not any limit she's found yet. But the nature of this ability means she's only as powerful as the source of energy around her. Fighting a handful of Family thugs in the street? There's not a ton of energy to pull from. Taking on the Rikti next to one of their reactors gives her a much more powerful source of energy for her abilities.

She doesn't rely on her own internal energy either. It must come from outside sources, and she cannot store that energy for long. Once she's pulled energy, she must use it, or let it burn off naturally.

Pyrokinesis

Tied to the above, Firelight's favorite form of energy manipulation is to turn it into fire and use that for her attacks. Her flames burn blue by default, though that may be a personal stylistic choice on her part. Part of the reason she loves using fire is because of how striking an appearance it gives her - it's hard to miss the floating silhouette of blue flame when she swoops in to save the day.

Flight

Not a terribly surprising power - Julia can fly. And she does so fairly often. She's suggested before that she uses her power of flight on occasion even when her feet are on the ground because it keeps her lighter on her feet, more able to strike or dodge quickly.

Life as a Celebrity

Though she's only 19, the combination of her father's renown, her exceptional good looks, and her knack for stealing the spotlight means Firelight has made quite a name for herself, particularly as a protector of Peregrine Island. Firelight has been featured on several magazine covers, conducted countless interviews on national TV, and become a bit of a cultural icon within Paragon City. Her smile is both dazzling and infectious, and video of her fighting criminals is truly a spectacle to behold, with all the flashy attacks and pyrotechnics at play.

Behind the scenes though, she is nothing short of an absolute diva. Hot headed and impulsive, self absorbed, with a sharp tongue to boot. She isn't mean by any particular stretch. But growing up rich, super powerful, and thrown right into the limelight of fame does tend to affect one's ability to relate to other people in a meaningful way. As a result, despite how 'perfect' she presents herself on camera, she is often very lonely and struggles with her place in the world.
