Previously known as Kid Leech, Amelia Stone is a former foster child who became a SERAPH project when an odd genetic disease surfaced, leaving her exhausted and progressively less capable of fueling herself. Now having adjusted to her powers and life outside a lab, she has discarded her hero ID and instead goes by Amelia or Ames.

Personality

Amelia’s sense of self-preservation seems not to be completely functional. Though she will point out risks in things that others do, and will try to avoid exposure to electricity, she will attack opponents several times her size even if she expects injury. As such, she considers “fun” roughly synonymous with “giant robots.”

She is social by necessity, curious, and generally friendly, though often nervous, impatient, and stubborn.

Powers

Hoping to provide Amelia with an alternate means of fueling herself, SERAPH scientists attempted to infuse her with solar-based energy powers. The plan went awry, instead enabling her to drain energy directly from the people around herself.

Energy Draining

Passive Draining

Amelia constantly drains small amounts of energy from anyone in her immediate area. This drain is usually negligible, but increases in combat to be continuously painful to any opponents that get too close. She also experiences draining “surges” as a defensive measure, such as when startled or angry. These are brief increases in the amount drained and are painful but otherwise harmless.

She has also demonstrated the ability to absorb parts of some attacks via her constant drain, but this application is mostly undocumented.

Active Draining

In addition to her regular, passive energy drain, Amelia can focus draining on specific targets. This is requires physical contact and is a secondary component of all of her attacks. Though the draining itself causes no lasting damage, it makes her punches seem to hit harder. Draining from one target does not lessen her passive draining, and she has limited control over the amount she pulls or how quickly she takes it.

She can also force herself to surge to varying extents. Usually this pulls only enough to give her an extra charge, though it can easily bring her back from near-defeat. Occasionally she has forced herself to continue surging erratically for short periods. While disorienting to her opponents, this is also painful to herself, and as such she rarely uses it for more than a few minutes at a time.

As her powers have developed, and her disease has progressed, the combination of her passive and active draining have replaced her need to eat or sleep. However, she still eats regularly and will fall asleep if she runs too low.

Superspeed

As Amelia’s ability to control her draining evolved, she developed limited control over the rate at which she burns stored energy. While she cannot slow her usage, she can force it to speed up. At first this required an external energy source in the form of her armor, designed by Smersh, but now she can create the effect at will. There are no visible effects of this process except a marked increase in the speed at which she moves. It can only be sustained for as long as she has stored energy to fuel it.

Energy Projection

In the fall of 2006, Amelia first showed the ability to release short bursts of energy through her hands. Using this burns the palms of her hands, but the severity of the burns has decreased with practice. Though this could potentially be a way for her to end overloads on her own, she has not had an occasion or inclination to test the theory.

Weaknesses and Limitations

Amelia’s most obvious weakness is her dependency on other people. If her powers are suppressed, or if she is kept away from people or her backup sources for too long, she reverts to her former, nearly-comatose state.

Her powers are fragile and prone to complications, though this has improved vastly since she gained them. She is particularly susceptible to electricity, which forces the same reaction that gives her superspeed but at a much higher level, overloading her system. Effects vary with the intensity of a shock, though the severity of her reactions has steadily increased since she first began having them. While even small shocks cause accelerated speech and twitching, larger ones will trigger seizures. The effect can be replicated to an extent by forcing her to absorb other energy sources, but these tend to cause less intense reactions if there is a reaction at all. So far she has been unable to end an overload on her own and needs to have someone else drain the excess energy for it to stop. A bracelet made by her husband, Jericho Stone, absorbs electricity before it can affect her. Thanks to it, overloads are now very rare.
