Naga Merfolk

The Naga, are deep dwellers... Merfolk who prefer the deepest and darkest waters. Naga are extremely dangerous, and most civilized Merfolk are warned at very early ages to always avoid the vicious species at all costs. These barbaric nomads are notorious for their ferocity and savage tactics.

Physiology

Naga, are large (often 7 - 10 feet tall) and very muscular. They resemble Draconic-lizardmen with a clearly aquatic heritage. They have large heads, with elongated skulls, filled with sharp, shark or alligator-like teeth. Naga are often darkly hued, in a various displays of greens, blues, greys, even reds, oranges and purples. Most are brilliantly highlighted with luminescent scales. They have large crests, beginning at their heads, which run down to the small of their backs, some even have tails, where these crests eventually taper off. Most Naga have very hard, and often dragon-like scales, which provide them some armament, though this is usually near their heads, crests, and joints (elbows, knees, etc).

Naga are long lived naturally, reaching ages over 300 years. However, most live such violent and dangerous lives, this is rarely happens. Naga are excellent swimmers, (approx 30 knots) with amazing depth tolerance (over 5 miles!) they are very tolerant of extreme temperature changes, they have been known to congregate in icy waters (-20 to 0 degrees) to virtually volcanic waters (80+ degrees)
*effectively resistant to fire and cold

Most Naga have displayed amazing regenerative capabilities, suggesting heritage shared with lizards. Some have been known to regenerate lost limbs! This amazing regenerative nature helps their survivability, but it isnt flawless. Most Naga still scar, and enough damage can bring even the mightiest of them down. No Naga has been known to recover from recorded death...(verified by a specialist)

Geology

Naga Merfolk, herald from all over the globe, preferring deep and dark waters. Though they show a preferrance for such conditions, exceptions do exist... such as the Varklesh, a Tribal band of horrendous Naga, that prey upon anything they can sink their claws into... whom operate out of Caribbean waters, and their nomadic nature make them hard to track.
