Background
Childhood
Anya Lupescu was born in The Carpathian Mountains. She mostly lived alone with her parents, only seeing others when she went into town with her father, once a week. Being a rare blond-haired Romanian girl got her and her father a lot of attention, and it was when she was 11 years old, that attention got them in trouble. Werewolf hunters in the area saw something in Anya, something not even her parents knew for sure (They were aware of their werewolf heritage, not that Anya had inherited full lycanthropy) and followed them home. Staying hidden until night fell, they broke into the house, murdered Anya's father and took turns raping her mother while forcing Anya to watch. The grisly details of her mother's death don't need to be recounted here, but when the men turned on Anya, cutting out one of her eyes while they raped her, Anya's rage at what she'd seen done to her mother and fear of it being done to her caused her to shift into full man-wolf form, and she tore the men to bloody ribbons, then ran out into the night.
Adolescence
A week later, Anya was discovered naked and freezing in the snow by two men. At first she was scared of them, but when she saw the feral look in their eyes, she realized they were werewolves, like her. They took her in and trained her in the ways of werewolves. It quickly became apparent that her destiny lie in the direction of judge for her people. It was also quickly apparent that she was a ruthless executioner of the guilty. She was later taken in and trained by a secret "cult" of ruthless judges (see "Alternate History" below for more information).
Adulthood
As an adult, Anya was a born leader, taking orders from nobody. She formed a "pack" of five fellow werewolves (all of pure-blood Romanian heritage, like her, however they were born as wolves). Trix for Anya, Judges for Anya, Rages for Anya, Dances for Anya, and Binds for Anya. She learned of a werewolf by the name of Ashley "Moongrrl" Jacobs and found her to be lacking certain qualities that Anya felt all werewolves should have (to this day, even "Moongrrl" doesn't know why Anya hates her so much) and immediately developed an obsession with taking her down. When Moongrrl moved to Paragon City, Anya followed her. In a failed attempt to kill her, Anya was arrested and sent to The Zig. Arachnos thought she had potential, and broke her out, but she has no interest in working for Arachnos other than for pay. She takes orders from nobody. Her pack tends to lay low, however they are always on the lookout for Moongrrl. Recently, Anya has started making forays into Paragon City again. Only time will tell if she is successful in her endeavors to kill Moongrrl.
Secrets
Anya is a practitioner of Koldonic Sorcery, with a focus on the Underworld. This gives her an affinity with silver, negating her natural werewolf allergy to it, however she is allergic to gold.
Alternate History
World of Darkness
Anya was originally Anya-Walks-in-Darkness (never really thought about what her "human" name would have been, as she had a profound hatred of humans), a Pure Breed 5 Rank 5 Homid Shadow Lord Philodox Judge of Doom I made as a villain for a werewolf campaign I ran for a short time. Her "pack", called The Dark Crows, were all Pure Breed 5 Rank 5 Lupus Shadow Lords, one of each auspice. Anya had Grandfather Thunder as a personal totem, and The Dark Crows pack totem was Crow (who if you know anything about Shadow Lords tribal rankings, "Crows" are Shadow Lords that choose to be utterly subservient to another Shadow Lord, forgoing all their personal glory to elevate another Shadow Lord, hopefully for the betterment of the Shadow Lords). They were utterly loyal to Anya. The campaign never went anywhere really with other players, but all the characters from that campaign are well developed. I thought it would be fun to play Anya as a villain in City of Heroes, however I do not feel it's necessary to bring actual World of Darkness terminology into City of Heroes, so I chose to remove the terminology and just keep the same basic ideas for the characters. I did a search for Romanian surnames, discovered that "Lupescu" was an actual Romanian surname, and thought "Wow, perfect name for a Romanian werewolf!" and thus she became Anya Lupescu.
Rumored Powers
The "rumors" of her powers mentioned in her villain box to the right stem from the Path of Weather Control and Path of Shadows hedge magic she knew (Koldonic Sorcery), and from the fact that for a time she was a Lasombra ghoul, and learned Obtenbration (she used the level 5 gift in the ORIGINAL Shadow Lords book that allowed one to break the blood bond, removed in the 2nd Shadow Lords book when they changed the rules to make it so no crossovers were possible in any way, shape, or form). The weather control I'm not sure is possible for her to obtain in City of Villains unless I make a Mastermind version of her (and I'm really not sure what primary to give her if I did), however the Path of Shadows can easily be gotten from Ghost Widow. But, you can fight a dark/storm version of Anya in my Mission Architect story, 'Anya and The Dark Crows' :)
