City of Villains ID Card

Name: Alex Goodwin
Age: 37
Occupation: Actor

Once a famous method actor, Alex Goodwin's career had begun to plummet after the 80's and 90's. Faced with fading into obscurity or taking whatever roles he could get, Alex found himself cast as the evil super villain in the upcoming movie "Descendant vs Apocalypse Mao."

A serious method actor, Alex took this new role on with true purpose, hoping a solid performance could land more similar roles. He literally became Apocalypse Mao on camera, but found himself wishing he could further experience the Mao persona by having radioactive powers himself. A quick call to Crey soon changed his life completely.

Undergoing a highly experimental and dangerous procedure, Alex was blasted with radiation while under a new drug's effects. His body absorbed the radiation, granting him the power he sook. Sadly, his brain became damaged and when he awoke, he believed he was Apocalypse Mao.

Personality

Alex Goodwin was a highly charismatic man, well liked by his peers and producers. Very little of what was Alex was became Dr. Mao. The screenplay for "Descendant vs Apocalypse Mao" called for the Mao character to be everything your typical "Bond" villain was - intelligent, affluent, and brutally insane - but with a corny, almost campy sense of PG-13 humor. Thus, while Mao might be quick to kill useless minions and talk incessantly about his plans for world domination, he does all this with an armory of puns and horrid one liners.
Personal interests include: World domination, killing the Descendant, sharks with mounted lasers, and kittens.
Dr. Mao does not smoke, drink or take recreational drugs. (He's high on "half life", so to speak.)

Powers

Apocalypse Mao's powers stem from his body being allowed to absorb and generate radioactive energy, thanks to Crey's experiment.

Radiation Blast

Somewhat self explanatory, Apocalypse Mao can focus radiation outside his body use it to assault foes with deadly precision. His signature ability, the Atomic Blast, can annihilate scores of Longbow Agents.

Radiation Emissions

Much like Radiation Blast, Mao can also focus radiation outside his body to increase his minion's abilities, weak enemies or even heal himself and allies. His signature ability, EM Pulse, can devastate mechanical enemies.

Abilities

A "catch all" section for Apocalypse Mao's power pool selections and Mission Architect features.

Fitness

Once an actor, Alex has a moderately good physique thanks to a personal trainer.. As Dr. Mao, he has a daily training regiment that involves hunting captured Longbow Agents in a maze and blasting them back into unconsciousness. Either way, Apocalypse Mao is in great shape.

The Maocenaries (Mission Architect)

Dr. Mao is a powerful super villain, but the true backbone to his criminal enterprise is the hired help, also known as the Maocenaries. These range from janitors, maids and expendable foot soldiers all the way up to cybernetically enhanced super assassins.

History (Extended City of Villains ID Card)

Name: Alex Goodwin / Dr. Mao
Age: 37
Occupation: Actor / Criminal Mastermind

Once a famous method actor, Alex Goodwin's career had begun to plummet after the 80's and 90's. Faced with fading into obscurity or taking whatever roles he could get, Alex found himself cast as the evil super villain in the upcoming Sci-FI original movie "Descendant vs Apocalypse Mao."(The rights to the Ascendant franchise could not be obtained.)

A serious method actor, Alex took this new role on with true purpose, hoping a solid performance could land more similar roles or even turn the Mao character into a franchise.

Sadly, his brain became damaged from the trauma of radiation and the effects of the new drug. When he awoke from a long coma, Alex Goodwin believed he was Apocalypse Mao.

He soon escaped from the medical asylum he was assigned to, and using Alex Goodwin's financial accounts (which Mao was surprised he could so easily access) started his criminal enterprise in the Rogue Isles.

Author Notes

Apocalypse Mao is obviously a play of words of the movie "Apocalypse Now."

Method actor Alex Goodwin is a parody of method actor Alec Baldwin.

Dr. Mao and Apocalypse Mao are throwbacks to early stereotyped villains. Mao's outfit and name are borrowed from communist China's Mao ZeDong, with the Apocalypse part referencing his powers. Examples might be Fu Man Chu or Baron Samedi.

The Descendant isn't an actual hero, just a character created for the movie. Thus, Dr. Mao is constantly frustrated about never being able to find and kill the Descendant, only damage his merchandise.
