This character's inspiration actually comes mostly from my friend Scathe. She came up with the name Artificial Angel for a cyborg scrapper and thought it might fit my RP style. Though the details of this character were my idea, I never would have thought to make her without Scathe's suggestion. So thank you Scathe for giving me the inspiration to make a toon that I'm having a lot of fun with so far! Some may think I should have gone for the broadsword powerset, and believe me, I considered it. However, I have tried broadsword in the past and didn't care for it. I am also fond of the martial arts set, and always wanted to try a martial/regen scrapper. So that's what I went with. I feel the concept still fits the toon due to how I RP her.

Background

After a random Rikti attack, a female Jane Doe was air lifted to an un-named Paragon City hospital suffering from what would surely be fatal injuries. News of such things usually travels very quickly to agencies like Crey and Portal Corporation, as they have agents all over the city. Whether by luck or pure coincidence, Portal Corp. received word first. DNA testing enabled them to identify Jane Doe, whose real name is now classified as Top Secret. Jane Doe had no criminal record and no history of metas in her family. She was the average, law-abiding citizen that earned an honest, if meagre living. They were able to verify that she willingly signed legal documents stating that she wished to donate her body to science should anything happen to her. While on life suport she was transfered to one of the Portal Corporation's state of the art facilities in Peregrine Island. There was where Project: Artificial Angel was born.

Project: Artificial Angel: Activated March 28, 2008

Project Purpose: Introduction of non-lethal police drone AI into human and cybernetic life forms that at the same time, will allow the subject(s) to lead seemingly normal lives.

Location: Portal Corporation Labs in Peregrine Island.

Project Notes

Date: June 12, 2007

Time: 2:33 PM

Female subject arrived via air lift while on life support. Steps are currently being taken to stabalize the subject to prevent total brain-death. Subject has suffered severe damage to approximately 65% of her body. Examination indicates she stands zero chance of survival without extensive reconstruction. Subject will be rebuilt from the inside out. Major organs, portions of the brain and much of the skeletal structure will be replaced with cybernetics and nanotechnology. Subject will be the first prototype in the Artificial Angel Project.

Date: August 24, 2007

Time: 5:03 AM

Project:Artificial Angel is well underway and meeting with success. Subject has shown no signs of rejecting the cybernetic organs. Completeion of subject's skeletal structure is close at hand. We've used a prototype metal consisting of elements of stainless steel and impervium. Tests have proven the combination to be nearly indestructible.

Date: September 30, 2007

Time: 6:22 PM

Subject remains in an induced coma and modifications are functioning properly. Subject's digestive system has been simplified. Subject will be able to consume small amounts of organic materials. Nutrients will be absorbed and converted into energy for power cells. Thus far, power cells have proven to be nearly self-sufficient. Subject's flesh now consists of a synthetic organic material capeable of regenerating at an excellerated rate. Further tests prove subject will bleed when injured, as was our goal with this material, for the sake of appearing as human as possible. Final surgical procedures will take place within the next week when subject's eyes will be replaced with prototype optical sensors. Sensors will appear to be normal eyes however, irises will alter with function modes. Function modes will include thermal imaging, night vision, and scanners that will identify life forms and other cybernetic beings. Scanners will also be linked to Portal Corporation and PPD databases, enabling subject to download and upload information at will. Before subject is brought out of the induced coma, she will receive several cosmetic alterations. Tattoos on the body will act as identification codes discipherable only by Portal Corporation.

Subject was brought out of induced coma three days ago. Thus far she is responding very well. Much of her personality remains in tact, promising sufficient social interaction. However, subject's memories of her past life have been removed to ensure the integrity of the project. All signs indicate that mentally, she is capable of functioning at the same level as those of her age. Physical therapy and extensive testing will begin within the next 24 hours. Nanite programming of subject's battle suit is well under way. The suit will be constructed of the same prototype metal as the subject's skeletal structure. Our engineers have designed the suit so that the armor-plated segments self-replicate and are retractable. Activation will be triggered by thought through modified segments of the subject's brain. The self-replicating segments will extend outward from the Subject's navel to cover her entire body. The suit will also be equipped with a retractible glider (wings). In addition, nanites will amplify the subject's modified adrenal gland to allow for the release of chemical enhancements into the system. (inspirations) Subject will also receive a voice activated portal beacon implant that will allow for the teleportation of apprehended subjects to the Paragon Police Department.

Time: 7:52 PM

Project: Artificial Angel is surpassing our expectations. Through a combination of programming and physical training she is proving to be non-lethal, but more effective than we anticipated. Rigorous testing has led to the conclusion that the subject cannot experience actual death due to the fact that she can simply be repaired for reactivation. However, severe injury, trauma to the head or loss of limbs will cause a simulated form of shock, resulting in temporary shutdown. Subject has been equipped with a Portal Corporation beacon (hospital)for such instances so that the prototype doesn't fall into the wrong hands. One of many priorities with this prototype is to ensure the subject will be able to exist undetected in society out of combat mode. Simulated social situations have put aside all concerns for exposure. Subject displays what are considered "normal" reactions to most scenarios. Subject seems capable of interacting with others on a personal and professional level, displaying excellent communication skills. At times she appears emotionally closed off, evident by the lack of emotion in her features and body language. However this should change once she has adapted to being fully integrated back into society. Subject displays quirks that amuse the research team at times, to include a tendancy to reference her internal database when she becomes agitated or unable to express herself in a constructive manner. Often times database references are delivered with sarcasm bordering on hostility. Subject also displays an avid interest in video games, stuffed animals and Laurell K. Hamilton novels.

Date: March 28, 2008

Time: 11:55 PM

After a few minor modifications, Project: Artificial Angel is now ready for activation. She will be released into the field with orders to register as a hero at City Hall in Atlas Park. From there she will be instructed to integrate herself into society with the expectation to receive other directives from Portal Corp. as the need arises. This prototype is one of a kind. There are no plans to produce this model in mass numbers. Should Project: Artificial Angel prove successful, the technology used with this prototype will be integrated into an entirely new model of non-lethal police drones for mass production. They will appear human, enabling law enforcement agencies to supplement their manpower with affordable, expendible officers.
