The Quick and The Dirty

Years of military service as the postergirl for badass women in the IDF hadn't left Lt. Cassidy Freeman a lot of time for relationships, or children. So when she became pregnant she was ecstatic. The father was not.

Her commanding officer, a married man with political ambitions, knew there was no way he could allow the child to be born, or the truth revealed. So he made 'arrangements', and during a raid against the Devouring Earth she was betrayed and left for dead.

A week later she arrived in Praetoria injured, but alive. For her bravery, she received numerous accolades, but lost her child. For their efforts, the men who betrayed her met gruesome deaths at the hands of 'Resistance' assassins and car bombs.

Cassidy escaped from Praetoria, forgotten by the people she had spent years protecting, eager to start a new life in a new world.
