Personality
Black Barricade is a dark, brooding individual who is not one to waste words. Despite his humble beginnings he speaks with a highly educated tone and enjoys a good intelligent conversation. He has a deep rooted hated for all things "Super Hero" due to the death of his daughter in what he perceives to be Unrestrained Hero Recklessness. He now firmly believes that the only way to protect what he cares about is to control or eliminate any and all potential threats.
Character History
Derek Bradshaw once lived a normal life in Paragon City as a hard working single father. Having his Daughter,named Kendra, at the age of Sixteen, Derek worked hard to support himself and his new baby by taking construction jobs and eventually became an accomplished steel worker. All this changed on Kendra's Sixteenth Birthday when her life was cut short by a bank robbers bullet. Derek and Kendra where on their way to a restaurant to celebrate her Birthday but needed to stop and get some money from the bank. While wanting in line to be served and small group of Arachnos Soldiers stormed the bank in a brazen hold-up. As police surrounded the building A Hero showed up and offered assistance which the cops gladly took. The Hero, A random tanker with hard skin, charged in and was met with immediate gun fire. With bullets bouncing off him the Hero "saved the day" with only one tragic causality, Kendra Bradshaw. With all the bullets being fired one managed to ricochet off the tanker and strike Kendra in the chest, fatally wounding her. As he held his dying daughter Derek's latent mutant power was awakened as his heart was literally turned in to a small Dark Star. With new energies coursing through his body and combined with his agonizing grief, Derek became a fully powered "barricade" of pain and guilt at the same moment his beloved daughter passed away in his arms. Derek's sadness was short lived though turning into an intense rage when as EMTs where taking Kendra body out of the bank he overheard the arrogant young tanker say to a cop, "Well, you cant save them all." Those where the last words the Hero ever spoke as Derek calmly walked over to him smashed his skull with an over clocked release of super strength. Arrested on the spot, Derek spent a year in the Zig before being freed in an arachnos raid. He has spent the last year wandering the Rogue Isles before recently refocusing his life.
