Before Blackshroud

Growing Up

Fiona's father was never really around and she probably would have been better off if her mother hadn't been. She stopped going to school at the age of ten and by the time she was fourteen she was on her way to becoming a Hellion. As a teen, she spent most of her time at her gang's local hangouts and hideouts. A little after her sixteenth birthday she just stopped going home. At seventeen she had established herself in her own little group and they began to step up to true criminal activity.

The Crypt

Fiona was eighteen and her little gang was well on it's way to carving out it's own little niche, a few streets wide, in Mercy City. Word had begun circulating, around the local chapters, of an ancient tomb recently uncovered by seismic activity. Fiona made sure her group where the ones to find it. They cracked open the coffin with abandon and inside they found an ancient tome. None of the others could understand the meaning of the symbols, but somehow, they came alive in Fiona's young mind. Moments later, her gang, who had watched her back for over four years, lay dead at her feet. Rather than dwell on her loss, she marveled at her newfound abilities and set off for greater things. Blackshroud was born.

The Dawn of Darkness

Finding a teacher

Blackshroud quickly learned all she could from the dusty tome and she hungered for more knowlage. She skulked around Pocket D, waiting for the right teacher to appear. That teacher was Sharessa. After their initial meeting, Blackshroud couldn't seem to stay away from the woman. As if she was physically drawn to her, like a magnet. Over the next few weeks she would learn many new things and spend many, many hours pouring over old books about the darkest magics. She would also be tested with a rival, a skiddish young woman and a former hero.

A deal with the devil

Unknown to anyone, she had begun consorting with a powerful demon lord of the lower planes. He promised her many things in return for her services. Among them, a powerful suit of armor. It granted her super human strength and durability, while strengthening her mental resolve to the point of remorseless malice. The only drawback was that it was powered by her own life force. A few weeks after receiving her armor she was called to serve the demon on his home plane. She dissapeared from the rogue isles for nearly a year.

The Wicked Arcanus

For the price of a soul

After a long absence, Blackshroud surfaced and joined the Wicked Arcanus. During her time at the temple she traded many parts of herself, including her body and soul, to other denizens of the planes for more and more power. She began to loathe herself for what she had become, turning to alcohol and other drugs to self medicate her growing depression. Many people used this fact to their advantage, taking advantage of her in her weakened mental state.

Gone again

As time past she only got worse. The things she did began to trouble her in her sleep, giving her terrible nightmares and her depression grew deeper and deeper. Her mind could barely handle the stress of using the armor and the drugs that followed. One evening, without warning or a word to anyone, she packed a small bag and left the Rogues Isles once more.

Texas

She spent a few months drifting from small town to small town, taking work anywhere she could find it. She held many jobs from waitress to cashier on down to a few less reputable ones. She was trying to leave her past behind and start over, but it followed her everywhere she went. The voices of the souls she had captured, the armor begging her to destroy everything in sight, and the local law inforcement hounding her relentlessly.

Return

Destraught that she could not abandon her past, she returned to the isles once more. Her drug habit became worse and worse and she drifted in and out of too many villain groups to remember. Her depression drug her down further and further until she finally decided to end it all. The only thing that stood between her and the edge of a tall crane where the words of The Thorn Bandit, her only friend at the time.

Magic

Blackshroud derives her power from the mystical bonds that hold the universe together. She is utterly human, but through sheer force of will she can shape the world to her liking.

Weaknesses

Her biggest weakness is her drug habit, brought on by crippling depression. During her times at the bar and other such places she pushes herself into a drug induced state of near defenselessness.

Personality

Blackshroud's personality is abrasive at best. She usually starts a conversation with one form of insult or another.
