Origin and History
Stephanie Chen used to be a normal girl. She had goals and interests all her own. Good in school, enjoyed gymnastics, wanted to learn to fly a plane... lots of things people want to accomplish. Then her uncle went and made a deal with the gods. He asked them to give the world the hero it needed. He believed that since he was making the proper sacrifices, they'd grant him the powers.
Steph, for her part knew nothing of this. She'd been visiting her relatives in China, having a wonderful vacation and enjoying her time away from home. Then she woke up one morning and found herself laying on the floor on top of a crushed bed frame. No more gymnastics, no more dreaming of flying, going to college and majoring in anything was out.
All that she had left was following the whims of the gods and becoming a hero.
Sometimes family sucks.
Travelling to Paragon City after proving to the Chinese government she was an American citizen, and that they couldn't hold her anyhow, She's made the effort to become the hero the gods decided she should be. She never wanted the honor, but accepts it as fact. She also knows that she's likely the only person in her family that wouldn't try to abuse this power, which is perhaps the reason they chose her after all.
Powers
Maiden is made of a magically augmented bronze. As such she is incredibly resistant to injury. Most attacks will impact her harmlessly and she has expressed more than a little concern those few times something actually manages to dent her.
This form also gives her incredible strength, capable of shattering steel with little effort.
She is also capable of emitting a significant amount of heat from her body, using it to add to the damage her attacks cause.
Recently she has learned she can project molten metal from her mouth as a sort of fiery breath attack.
Her lesser abilities stem from her being a walking statue. She does not need to breathe and can stay in airless environments indefinetly.
She does not sleep and never gets exhaused. If she chooses to press this advantage she can be nearly unstoppable, walls and doors made of about any material eventually giving way to her.
Weaknesses
Her inability to perform most of the activities she used to enjoy, such as swimming and gymnastics, makes Stephanie gloomy and occasionally cranky when confronted with those situations. Even simple things such as talking about food around her can depress her.
Her form weighs more than it's size would indicate (which is already a lot). She weighs roughly three and a half tons. This makes swimming impossible, though she can and has walked across Talos Island under the water.
Her weight also makes rapid travel a problem. Despite her strength, she can't jump a significant distance and 'ponderous' is a polite way of describing her running speed.
