History

The Early Years

Mike Stelzner was born in Port Oakes, in the Dockside neighborhood, to Jacob and Sarah Stelzner. Jacob worked for Arachnos as a Huntsman, while Sarah was a waitress at Black Beard's Pub. As a child Mike was always in love with the see, which he'd spend time playing at, running along the tide and climbing the rocks.

He became friends with the Lost at age 9, and while he did not suffer from Rikti control or mutations, he became a dedicated supporter. His attraction to the Lost steamed from his elementary school experiences, where he was a pariah due to his father's rank in Arachnos and gossip about his mother's job. Teachers would either make class too easy out of fear of retaliation against failing grades or bombard young Mike with questions like "does you mother really work the glory hole at the pub?" He was bullied constantly, leading to expulsion for a record of 15 fights, 12 of which he won, before even completing 2nd grade.

After his expulsion he confined himself to the library to continue his education, balancing his time between reading and scavenging for scraps with the Lost. By age 10 he spent virtually no time at home, neither parent noticing in the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Although he was now reading on a college level, excelling at hand-to-hand combat, and had a circle of friends, Mike felt lonely and empty. At nights he began skipping the Lost's bonfires in favor of walks by the sea he loved so much and Fort Hades, a symbol of power and tenacity. Black Beard's Pub became his haunt, also, where he'd wait outside for a drunk to start a fight with. At the bar he also had the chance to watch his mother, to see if what people said were true or just rumors.

Black Beard's Pub and Captain Morgan

At age 13 Mike became the unofficial "cooler" of the pub, sneaking in and taking down unruly or rowdy patrons. He was nick-named "Hair of the Dog" for his fights against violent drunks. Sarah, still unaware of her son's involvement, took no notice to the familiar child standing in the corner, a memory that burned Mike to this day

His most noteable fight was against a would-be villain called "Captain Morgan," for his pirate-like attire and love of drinking. The fight's groundwork was laid earlier that night when Morgan "paid his tab" by drawing his sword on the bartnder. Next he proceeded to nearly kill a bouncer, break a juke box, and slap a waitress who didn't get his drunk to him fast enough.

Enraged and blood-thirsty, Mike stepped from the shadows to attack. He came with a sucker punch to the jaw, dislocating it. Morgan fell off his feet and was dragged by his hair outside the bar. Mike circled him, yelling for the villain to get up and face him. As Morgan got to all fours Mike delivered a kick straight to Morgan's ribs, breaking two. Morgan stumpled up to his feet, attempting to flee, only to be shoved back by angry patrons who gathered. Morgan drew his cutlass and slashed Mike, cutting him across the chest. He attacked again, but Mike managed to dodge this strike, countering with a fist to the stomach, lariat to the spine, and a blow to the temple. Morgan fell to the ground once more, taking stomps to the face, ribs, and arms.

Mike stood over Morgan, his eyes burning with hatred, He was bleeding profusely, his adrenaline keeping him standing, his clothes and fists stained and wet with blood. Morgan begged for mercy like a dog, his eyes fixed on Mike in horror. Mike bent down, taking Morgan's coat, cutlass, and hat before driving the cutlass through Morgan's chest and crushing his skull with a stomp. As Morgan lay dying, Mike slapped him and said "That's for my mom."

But Mike's, and his mother's, troubles were not yet over.

The Death and Suicide of Jacob and Sarah

Times at Black Beard's became a joy of Mike's, who grew to 15 since his fight with Captain Morgan. He began to dress in the clothes he took of Morgan, even calling himself "Captain." He remained focused on his education by day, now able to perform Calculus and write calligraphy, and remain a "guardian" of the pub by night.

Mike became increasingly aware of his father's disappearance from the home. Upon visiting Fort Hades, he learned his father had left on an Arachnos strike force to rescue Circle of Thorns hostages. Furthermore, Mike became increasingly worried of the growing Council numbers in Port Oakes. It only took a single week before both problems ended in a nightmare that still plagues the pirate.

Late one night, when returning home from the pub, Sarah Stelzner was forcibly dragged into an alley by members of the Council. The four Cor Leonis proceeded to beat Srah and tear her clothes from her. Mike attacked the four members standing guard, decapitating one, eviscerating two, and fatally wounding the fourth before taking a buckshot point blank from thier leader, Archon Mathias. Mike was presumed dead and left as the five living Council members took terns raping his mother. When Mike came to consciousness the Council were gone, leaving Sarah bloody, crippled, and in shock.

Mike carried his mother home, ignoring his own pain. Upon arriving they were greeted by a group of Arbiters. Sadly, they informed Sarah and Mike that Jacob, loving husband and father, was killed in the line of duty. Sarah became hysterical with crying and shook so uncontrollably that Mike and two Arbiters had to bring her to the apartment. The next morning Mike found his mother in the bathroom, both wrists sliced, dead. Mike walked to his room, packed a rucksack with clothes and books, then left Port Oakes, never to return until his break from the Zig.

Involvement with Captain Mako and the Unknown Years

Although much of this time period is shrouded in mystery and locked within the deepest recesses of Mike's mind, bits and pieces and been extracted via hypnosis, eye witness accounts, telepathy, or from Mike himself. This much is known:

-Mike served aboard Captain Mako's ship as first mate.
-Mike went off on his own when Mako began to work for Cage Consortium.
-Mike began to haunt Sharkhead and Bloody Bay, frequenting the Forgotten Forest and Potter's Feild.
-Mike formed a task-force, assigned by Silver Mantis, to take down the Sky Raiders in Sharkhead Isle.

The Council Experiments

Spoiler warning: Details about a player-created storyline, or information currently unrevealed about a character, follow.

History becomes clear again through eyewitnesses, medical records, and from Mike himself. At age 17 Mike was assigned a task to destroy a Circle of Thorns altar in Potter's Feild. After storming the Circle's lair, Mike found it empty, felt a dart hit him in the back, and passed out.

When he awoke he found himself strapped down to a table in a Council base, his old enemy Archon Mathias paying a Circle of Thorns archmage named Tarixus. Upon discovering Mike was awake, Mathias proceeded to beat him to near death. Mike was then sedated, and the Council doctors entered the room, wheeling a Corlax Red Hybrid on a table.

Mike was then used as a Council guinea pig to test Corlax-Human blood transfusions, an idea the Council had hoped would improve their super-soldiers program. The Corlax blood increased Mike's reflexes and sense vastly, turning his hair the sickly green color of the sea, and changing him into a lizard/human hybrid creature. Fearing their creation, the Council installed amnesia blocks into Mike's brain, blocking his knowledge of how to activate his new abilities, the experiments, and most of his past memory. The body was abandoned during a Longbow raid, where it was stored in the Zig after being identified. In the Zig Mike would spend most of his time alone in his cell, trying to remember. he would often slam his fists on the wall out of anger, causing him to have prepetually broken hands. However, after a mere three months in prison Arachnos pulled a jailbreak, releasing Mike back into the world.

Spoilers end here.

Present Times

The mind locks in Mike's brain have been weakened by the Zig's inhibiting drugs, and have now started breaking one by one. These breaks send Mike into painful fits of memory, which he immediately rushes to the Arbiters. The Arbiters annalyize the "flashback montages" with telepathic techniques, using them to show Mike his past, reteach him a fighting technique, etc.
Mike has approached his old mentor, Captain Mako, who has denied that Mike is still alive, looking for proof that mike is not an impostor.

Mike is also co-captain of a ship called the Black Chalice, which was once a lively ship with a full crew. Now nearly all of the crew has gone missing in action

Mike fought in the second Rikti War, during the Battle of Sharkhead, leading fellow villains to defend in a Freakshow fortress.

Attire

1. Captain Morgan's Garb- The clothing Mike took as trophies to display after his murder of Captain Morgan.
2. First Mate Clothes- When he served alongside Mako.
3. Corlax Form- His reptilian, Leviathan form
4. Black Chalice garb- His captain clothes

Abilities

While the full extent of his powers are unknown, Mike presently fights with three weapons

The first is the cutlass he took from Captain Morgan, his main weapon. Mike uses it to the same extent a ninja would wield a ninja blade, even patterning some attacks of Japanese swordplay. Mike has been seen channeling energy into the sword to deliver his Golden Dragonfly technique, but otherwise the sword is unextraordinary.

The second is a throwing knife he received as a gift from Angelo in the Zig. While he doesn't use it often he has been seen using it to finish near dead enemies.

Finally, his third weapon is one of the Ghost-Slaying Axes. This was a present from Ghost Widow for the defeat of Huntsman Ohanko.

Mike also possesses superior reflexes, incredible movement speed, and increased stealth capabilities as a result of training and the Corlax blood. Mike's Leviathan/Corlax abilities are unknown.
