I can't take full credit for this idea as my best friend helped me out of a stupor because I was bored with a character and needed a new idea. He gave me this idea and let me expand and take it in any direction I wanted. This character will truely give me freedom to really role play and get into a character. --Lord Ishido 16:30, 14 July 2007 (CST)

This article about a character is a stub -- a small, but growing, work in progress. If you're the creator of this character, why not consider expanding it?

History

Ethan Levi was perhaps the most brilliant scientist never to work for Crey Industries, SERAPH, and the like. Confining his studies to the fields of biology and genetics, he became increasingly fascinated with the adaptive biological characteristics of the marine life found in the world's oceans. Maintaining his independence, he accumulated enough funds through various research grants to acquire advanced oceanography equipment used to advance his research.

In time, Levi finally happened upon a theory of altering the human species into one that could live and thrive in the deep sea. The resources available to sea creatures were far more abundant to life adapted to life on land, he reasoned, and so he studied the possibility of creating a new form of intelligent life to take man's place underwater. Having just enough skill to accomplish such a feat, Levi began experimenting and growing test subjects he named his "Aquanoids".

It was about this time that agents of Arachnos began to contact Levi and offer him employment into their services. Despite his unorthodox theories, Levi considered himself a man of high morals, and detested the ideals for which Arachnos stood for. Rejecting all offers, including increased funds and high-tech equipment, Levi sought to retain his autonomy while continuing his work.

This was not to be, however, as Arachnos spies had decided that the possibilities suggested at Levi's work were too valuable to be ignored. Rather than to simply kidnap him, however, a more devious plan was concocted to ensure that Levi would never be free from the yoke of Arachnos.

Arachnos agents altered and leaked information concerning Levi's experiments and intentions to Longbow forces. As a result, a squad of Longbow soldiers attacked Levi's peaceful aquatic laboratory. Thinking himself the victim of an Arachnos assault at the time, Levi utilized his base's meager defensive systems while attempting to save his growing breed of "Aquanoids" by dumping them into the ocean. Longbow instead interpreted this as hostile resistance and an attempt at releasing a race of man-fish hybrids onto the world. Taken into custody and classified as the typical mad scientist, Levi was incarcerated and sent to the Zig.

Once there, it was only a matter of time until a surgical strike by Arachnos forces could extricate their new talent and transfer him to the Rogue Isles under the guise of including him in Project: DESTINY. As a final precaution, Levi was provided equipment to help ensure his survival on the islands among so many dangers and also keep an eye on their investment. This consisted of robotic drones whose function it was to protect Levi, report on his activities, and force his compliance. In addition, a personal force field device was given to him for defense.

Unable to escape his new life, and now considered the world over as just another super villain with delusions of grandeur, Ethan Levi took on the more impressive name of Dr. Hydra in bitter acceptance. Although life in the Rogue Isles continues to provide him with ways to expand his research, such as by studying the unusual Coralax species and the bioengineering techniques that created the Arachnoids, he is deeply resentful of both Arachnos and Longbow, both of which helped to ruin his life in their petty power struggle. Though originally a meek and mild man, he is slowly nurturing thoughts of revenge against the world that has treated him so poorly.

Weapons

Dr. Leviathan posseses a weak repulsor beam tied into his force field systems. He also carries a revolver. He has little personal combative skills and generally prefers to seperate himself from physical conflicts. However, he can still direct his robotic protectors, who are quite proficient in dealing deadly force to adversaries.

Personality

Ethan Levi was originally a quiet, good-natured man, though perhaps possessed of some unusual quirks. Though brilliant, his thinking often traveled along different lines than normal men and so was frequently misunderstood. Before his incarceration, he might have been described as thoughtful, curious, and gentle, albeit somewhat strange.

Since becoming a pawn of Arachnos, however, Dr. Hydra has retained much of his original nature, but is now subject to quiet fits of repressed anger. He often broods his time away. He is not one to wallow in self-pity, and does not seem depressed, but a dour countenance shadows his personality, broken only by dark, vindictive rage that is very rarely seen. He is a brilliant man who's dreams for a better tomorrow have been shattered by villains and heroes, and for this, one day, retribution will be his. However, he still has the well-being of the common man in mind.
