Character History

Kenji Odashu was a medical student with a strong interest in combining 37th Century medical techniques with traditional Chinese medicine based on the 5 elements of wood, water, wind, metal and fire.

He'd been working avidly in his spare time on a set of computer simulations based around the five elements using quantum computing systems with deliberate gaps in the logic, in an attempt to simulate human functions like intuition. This work was scorned by his teachers, and he saw little future in it other than intellectual curiosity.

Unfortunately it came to the attention of quantum magician and "power addict" Zac Parsons, the enemy of the Celestial Bodies responsible for the Systemus Golem and other such attacks on the group. Parsons kidnapped Kenji and stole his work, locking the unfortunate student in his labyrinthine Cabinet of Curiosities, a non-linear magical maze built into his apartment. Parsons was convinced he could decode the work on his own, possibly using some brainpower from Nemesis 12 appropriated by Systemus and its power-absorbing qualities.

Its unclear what happened inside the Cabinet, but Kenji emerged with some profound realisation about his theories that granted him the ability to exert his willpower directly on the surface of reality like a pencil might draw on paper.

He rushed to the aid of the Celestial Bodies to help them defeat Systemus, unwittingly tipping the battle in the golem's favour when it duplicated his newfound abilities. It was nevertheless defeated. Kenji expressed his wish to join the group, and was rejected on account of his inexperience, but was employed at Nemesis' suggestion as the team's physician. He's taken to calling himself Element King and wearing a modernised traditional Chinese costume, just in case he's called on to assist the team in the field.

Affiliations

Element King is a reserve member of the 37th Century chapter of the Celestial Bodies.

Personality

Ken is a very bright young man, and a non stop talker, sometimes about his magical theories, but mostly about his favourite subject - himself. He loves the idea of being a superhero much more than the practice, and prefers to stay at the back where its safer when things start to get rough.

His focus so far on his superhero career have revolved around hiring an image consultant and costume designer. His "martial arts" training has amounted to little mroe than some basic tai chi and yoga until pressed by Ms. Amazing to hire a proper instructor who can teach him to handle himself in the field.

Powers

Ken can create solid semi-visible three dimensional structures in the space around him by pure concentration. This "tangible willpower" lasts as long as he concentrates on it, and can be used to create simple geometric structures such as spheres or planar barriers to fully formed humanoid figures.

The full limits of these constructs have yet to be tested, but they have been observed to deflect machine gun fire or stop a small motor vehicle at speeds of 50km/h. Impact on hsi tangible willpower does not seem to have any negative feedback on Ken.

Weaknesses and Limitations

Ken is primarily limited by his speed and concentration. He can easily get flustered in a fast moving combat situation and be overcome before being able to project his protective willpower into reality.
