A Little Girl With Big Ideas
Super-Science!
Little Ellie Ballistic has a prodigious talent for super-science. She constructed her first killer robot at the age of five for a kindergarten show-and-tell day. Unsurprisingly the adults around her took notice immediately. They have been encouraging her to develop her talent, and nudging her toward a career in super-villainy.
Influences
Mom
The greatest influence in Ellie's life is her mother. Ellie's mom recognizes that Ellie's talent if developed could elevate the family to wealth and influence in the city, and so she's always encouraging Ellie to do her best and set her sights as high as possible. Pleasing her mother may be Ellie's greatest motivation, driving her competitiveness in the world of science.
To outsiders it might seem insane to allow your child to wander the city fighting street gangs and invading military forces, but from the perspective of an ordinary citizen of Mercy City, such a lifestyle doesn't seem significantly more risky than simply going about one's ordinary business. In fact it is arguably safer to go into combat with a squad of battle-robots as an escort than it would be to walk to the market for groceries in Mercy City without such an escort.
Science Teacher
Unbeknownst to Ellie, her second-grade science teacher Mr. Eckhardt is actually a corporate cybernetics expert specially assigned to guide her toward a career developing useful military technologies. He's been having her enter projects into "science fairs," where the other contestants are not other elementary school students but military contractors bidding on Arachnos contracts. The fact that her designs have won two of them already has not only astounded her employers, but also made them a great deal of money. Eckhardt estimates that if she continues to progress at her current rate, she may surpass the world's greatest experts by the age of ten.
Current Projects
This year's "science fair" is a bid for a team of autonomous battle machines that can outperform Longbow's latest technologies. While her robots aren't quite up to that level yet, with every battle Ellie learns something that lets her improve her design. Her latest innovation is the addition of a "protector-bot" to the team, a robot medic that can repair the other robots when they are damaged in battle.
Ellie has also gotten it into her head that she's going to become the world's greatest super-villain. She started taking jobs from Arachnos operatives, and has since drawn the attention of some of the city's elite as someone of great potential.
