Fimli Grimbeard was created by Heimskur (global handle: @Beans) for the MMORPG City of Heroes' Virtue server and was inspired by Dwarven-lore from many sources, such as: Norse Dvergar-lore, J.R.R. Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings, Warhammer, Dungeons and Dragons, etc. Originally created early in the year 2005, the character has gone through several re-realisations, first shifting from Stone Armour/Superstrength to Invulnerability/Superstrength and finally to Invulnerability/Battle Axe.

Background History
Early Life
Fimli Grimbeard, current Thane of the kingdom of Bazûl-Khâzâdu and heir to the fortunes of the legendary Fûnín Grimbeard, was born in the Third Era of the Age of Beards, or as the Manfolke of Enoth call it, The Era of Peace.
A Birth Foretold
Cast from an ancient, craggy hand, bits of bone and shell carved deep with orphic runes clattered onto a tableboard in the deepest caverns of the Dwarven capital of the Bazûl-Khâzâdu. Surrounded by sombre bearded faces, an old robed crone gazed thoughtfully upon the graven fragments.
Fimli's parents, High Thane Thrór Grimbeard and Gima Hammerhand, along with many others, perished during the Battle of the Western Ridge, in which a horde of Kór-Urakhs (Orcs) breached the Bazûl-Khâzâdu's western fortifications and poured into the capital of Khalûrd (K-hahl-oord), slaughtering anything and everyone in their path.

Fimli carries with him always the legendary Gil-Khûn; a massive double-edged Dwarven battle axe, forged in the flames of Khalûrd's finest smithy centuries ago by Glóinin Grimbeard, son of Fûnín.
Weaknesses and Limitations
Like all Khâzâdu, Fimli cannot bear to remain far from his beloved underground domain for lengthy periods of time.
Large amounts of Dwarven Ale could also be described as one of Fimli's weaknesses, however, Fimli objects to this accusation wholeheartedly, and states that ale settles a Dwarf's mind and likewise makes him stronger in battle.

- Though while in the Lands of Men he'll answer to such, Fimli is not actually Fimli's true Khâzâdu (Dwarvish) name. Khâzâdu names, like nearly all things concerning Dwarves, are kept very secret and are only known amongst other Dwarves.
