Character History
Firewhirl has lead a long life, but only remembers bits and pieces before her current summoning. As such, there are large gaps in her memory. She knows she's seen some things before, but is at a loss as to when or where - for example, men wearing kilts is a familiar sight, but she doesn't know why. This doesn't really bother her at all, and if anyone asks, she's likely to shrug the whole thing off and continue dancing.
Before Summoning
A fire mephit, Firewhirl was likely born of the elemental plane of fire itself. Mephits are pretty much second from the bottom (right above imps) on the food chain of elementals, so it isn't likely she had much in the way of power where she was from. She has vague memories of actually being able to fly in this period of her life, despite the fact she can only (and barely) manage short distance glides here before plummeting back to earth in our realm. Given the construction of the plane (being little more than fire itself), there's a very good chance she spent a lot of time surfing thermal currents.
She has no memory of note from this time whatsoever.
The Summoning
A few years back, Firewhirl was pulled into our plane of existence via a summoning ritual enacted by a low ranking Circle of Thorns mage who was attempting to better his station within the Orangbegan social hierarchy by summoning and binding a lesser demonic entity. Due to a slight miscalculation in placement of runes, however, he seems to have opened a gateway to Firewhirl's home instead of the hell realms, and pulled her through. He did manage to bind her, and spent some months assuming she was the demon he was after. The mage treated her cruelly, often resorting to physical and magical violence to achieve his desired effects.
The mephit languished in the mage's small laboratory in the Hollows for a few years, forced into menial labor and simple defensive work (for example, burning trolls who got too close to the cave's entrance). She had little spirit of her own - she seemed more automaton than living creature, but the mage didn't care. She was nothing more than cheap labor to him, and he made sure she never forgot that.
One day, however, the whole thing came crashing down - for the mage. His base was infiltrated by a team of heroes who had been sent his way by Karsis, who clearly didn't like the other mage in the first place. The heroes destroyed most of the mage's laboratory equipment, tore books, smudged circles...and eventually killed the mage by sheer accident.
While the mage ran from the heroes, one of them let a stray energy bolt hit a bookshelf near the Thornsman, which collapsed the extremely heavy oak frame (and all the huge, musty tomes on it) on the mage, crushing him. Firewhirl immediately stopped the spell she was casting, unsure what she should do. The heroes decided she was not a problem, and left the cave a shambles with Firewhirl standing in the middle of the wreckage.
She didn't stay there long.

Personality
Firewhirl has, since being freed of Circle of Thorns control and watching heroes at the MAGI offices, become a very sweet creature indeed.
Tremendously naive for such an old creature, she has a general outlook on morality where other people are concerned that can best be described as childlike - everyone is good and nice, all people are your friends, and people who aren't good and nice are for burning. She will talk to anyone and anything that gets close to her, even if it doesn't seem like a good idea to most other people. She has actively hugged creatures like Malithrax, even though she was warned it might hurt her.
She has an exuberance and overwhelming joy for life as a whole, and loves to dance. Any excuse to go see a DJ show from The Cape is generally responded to well.
Equipment
Firewhirl doesn't really own anything of her own, aside from her old binding collar. The collar is a heavy chain that sits around her neck. She refuses all attempts to remove it, even if it seems to be hurting her.
The tailors at Icon are amused by the mephit, and one took her under his proverbial wing when he figured out she had no clothes. She has since learned to spoof clothing after seeing it using her magic power, creating a glamored image of wearing outfits she has had Icon people help her come up with. So far, she's been seen in what she calls a Mook Suit, which resembles a suit worn by the Family, and an outfit reminiscent of a WWII pilot she wears around Meteor Howl.
Powers
As a mephit, Firewhirl exhibits magical control over fire, including the setting and maintaining of small and controlled blasts, rings of fire and other methods of choking and slowing enemies related to flame. She has also recently been seen in contact with a trio of imps, fellow free elementals who seem to enjoy her company and the ability to occasionally run amok and singe targets.
She also has exhibited some control over energy and metabolic-related processes inside and around humanoid bodies, causing enemies to slow down or lose accuracy and offering what energy she takes from them to friends, teammates and her imp trio.
She claims she has the ability to fly, or at least that she used to have it - now, though, it seems to be far closer to super jump-esque bounding attempts at flight rather than proper flight.

Enemies
Firewhirl seems to be generally oblivious to the concept of holding a grudge, and as such doesn't really have any enemies that she considers of particular worth.
