Yes, I am quite aware of Project FURY. I am also quite aware that Project Fury never once had an implemented startup date, as well as many other Arachnos themed projects. There is slight bending of lore within her backstory, but by all means, I am making it have a bit more sense than what the developers have provided for us. The Arachnoids in this story are an earlier prototype of the Arachnoids of today. They lost their minds, and have as much sense of self-preservation as an Infected.

History

This Fortunata has her roots based in Grandville, born a year before the start of the construction of Arachnos Tower. Like many people born during Recluse's reign, Sarah Delucey spent much of her childhood watching her city change around her. Grandville's citizens were treated kindkly by Arachnos in its early years, so long as the populace obeyed the strict martial law. There were very few complications, outside of the occasion "revolutionary" brigade, supplied and armed by Longbow "terrorists". In less than 30 years, Lord Recluse cultivated a docile, subjective city filled with Arachnos loyalists, who willingly obeyed Arachnos Law, migrating from district to district as WEB construction progressed.

Then Tragedy Struck.

The Overrun of Grandville

Sarah Delucey was twelve at the time, in class at an Arachnos funded and institutionalized middle school, when the city's klaxons began to blare. Arachnos flyers, the massive black troop transports, cast shadows across the city, hovering almost silently before battalion after battalion deployed from her cargohold.

The school was evacuated, as all the children were loaded into the flyers, each one speeding off to safety. The soldiers of Arachnos garrisoned themselves within the districts buildings, the streets, and even the school, as if expecting an attack.

Sarah, caught in the middle of the klaxons and expecting a nuclear attack, hid within a nearby janitorial closet, expecting the worst. Crying, almost paralyzed in shock, she awaited the sounds of explosions. The klaxons stopped blaring, leaving her in pure silence. Outside of the occasional beep and murmur as the soldiers communicated with each other, there was nothing. A soldier stopped in front of the closet, before opening it to find Sarah huddled up like a sobbing wreck.

"Jesus, we got a civilian in the school!"

"The flyers already evacuated."

"So what are we supposed to do? It's a child for God's sake!"

"... Protect her until the situation is contained."

"Roger, HQ."

The soldier grabbed her by the shoulder, dragging her with him, until they were both delved back into his squad. After much bickering and complaining between them, they grabbed her and told her to lie down under some cover, before resuming their positions at the windows, guns aimed outward.

"No Arachnoids spotted, HQ."

"We're reading hostiles approaching your position. It's gonna get hot, Echo Squadron."

One of the soldiers shifted, before gazing down the scope of his rifle. "Commander, I got visual on Arachnoids. No hostile intentions seen, but they are making their way to this district."

"Hold your fire. When there is one, theres a hundred. Wait until the main horde is seen."

Sarah, being curious, crawled out from her position and peered out a nearby window to see what they were talking about. What she saw nearly made her scream.

An eight foot tall, bestial thing was lumbering around the elementary playground. It had jagged, demonic looking legs, bent backwards like a hound. Freakish arms tipped with scythe-like claws. Eight red, peircing eyes, and a maw filled with jagged, vicious looking teeth. But the most atrocious thing about the monster were the four monstrous appendages jutting out of its back. If she were not looking at it now, she would have thought the beast a creature from a movie, or a nightmare.

"Main horde spotted!" The soldier yelled, as hundreds, maybe a thousand of those monsters appeared, following their apparent leader. It was as if the gates of Hell broke, and she was staring at Satans army.

"Snipers, line up your shots. Soldiers, get ready to open fire. Crab prototype and Orbweaver exo support inbound."

"What the heck is a Crab prototype?" One of the soldiers quipped.

"Don't got me a damned clue, but those Tarantula freaks creep me the fuck out."

"How long until reinforcements come, HQ? We got a civilian, and not enough manpower to take them all."

"ETA of three minutes. Expect flyer gunship support."

"We need an evac of a civilian, can we expect that to happen damnit?!"

"The Gunship has been notified. The security zone has been marked on your HUD. Do -not- escort until reinforcements have arrived."

"Roger."

The lead soldier kneeled behind Sarah, resting a hand on her shoulder. "Hey, we're going to get you out of her, okay? There's a flyer coming that will escort you to Fort Cerberus, where we evacuated everyone else to. We're gonna get you out of here, but you have got to listen to us."

Sarah simply nodded, barely having any idea on what was happening. The echoing boom of a flyers engines rocked the air, as the Arachnos Gunship began to hover over the School District.

"Open fire! The leader roared, as all the adjacent buildings lit up with the flashes of rifle fire, Arachnoids screaming in agony as they fell. Human, heart-piercing screams. It was drowned out by a much fiercer roar, as the thousand plus Arachnoids swarmed.

It was a catastrophe.

The freaks were quick, sprinting towards the gunfire, before leaping the height of an eight story building, slamming through several garrisons like cardboard, the sounds of dying soldiers acting as the wails of defeat. The gunships bay doors opened, as several grappling lines descended. What looked like massive, metal spiders rappelled down the lines, landing amongst the Arachnoid swarm, their claws slashing and tearing through flesh, blood spraying everywhere.

"Tarantula Support is here! Let's get this civilian to the evac point now!"

They all raced through the schools entrance, two of the soldiers flanking Sarah, before the squad came upon the battle. Grenades flew, guns fired, and claws slashed, rending blood and entrails everywhere. The Arachnoid swarm kept coming. The squad escorting Sarah rushed through it all, as if oblivious to the death and destruction that surrounded them. The squad halted underneath the massive gunship, its auto cannons and miniguns whirring and firing into the monstrous horde. Four massive figures rappelled out of the flyer, hurling themselves out of the bay doors, landing on their feet with a crunch of compacting dirt. They were tall, each one coated in the black sheen of the famous Arachnos alloy of their armor. Each one had four arachnoid-like limbs projecting from their backs,, each one made of machinery instead of flesh. Nevertheless, the squad was taken aback.

"What in the fuck are you?!" One of the soldiers screamed in terror.

"We are the Crab Spider Soldiers. We'll take things from here. Pull your soldiers back, and get out of here. This place is getting carpet-bombed in twenty minutes."

"What?!" The leader cried in shock, before belting orders into his communicator. "All soldiers evacuate Grandville. The land is going to be swept soon. Report to your nearest evac point and hold your position until departure."

Several acknowledgements were heard, before Sarah was attached to one of the grappling lines, her frame lifted into the gunships bay.

The last thing Sarah saw that night as she was strapped into her seat, were the four soldiers firing rounds of red laser fire at the horde, their arms lobbing grenades filled with a sickly green gas, and cleaving through the Arachnoids with ease if they so dared to approach them.

A year passes

Grandville was destroyed, but the island remains, and construction of the WEB continues. Sarah and her family now live in the overpopulated slums of Mercy Island. The situation within Arachnos has devolved, its soldiers treating the once loyal citizens like trash. More uprisings occur. The Bane Spider program is in full swing. Rumors of female soldiers of Arachnos sweep the rogue isles, acting as Lord Recluses personal assassins. Rumors of slum cities completely depopulating overnight, their citizens never seen again. Squads of Arachnos soldiers, once a symbol of protection to the civilians of the Rogue Isles, now terrorized the weak and innocent.

Sarah's parents grew paranoid, sleeping in shifts, building a safe room to hide in, carrying guns on them at all times. The terror Sarah witnessed the year before, as well as her personal experiences after, caused her to mentally mature, her former innocence gone as she saw her world change and collapse around her. She kept a cold personality, avoiding friendships, simply taking orders from the Slum Lords, and doing their job to the fullest

Then Tragedy struck once more.

Arachnos forces struck in the middle of the night, Sarah waking up to the sounds of gunfire and the screams of death. She sprinted out of her shack, , grabbing her magnum, and surveyed the carnage. Adults were killed all around her, the rest of the children rounded up near a Tarantula that stood guard over them. A flyer was hovering a good seventy-five feet in the air, as the tarantula strapped each child to a grappling hook, lifting them up and away into the blackness of the night.

Horrified by what she saw, she sprinted towards the children, the magnum drawn with its sights aimed at the monsters head. Before she could pull the hammer, she ran into something, sending her sprawling backwards onto the ground in a daze. She looked up, and saw a Bane Spider's cloaking device begin to fail, leaving the mace-wielding brute standing before her with its arms crossed.

He swung the mace at her head, as her vision immediately turned black.

Another year passes

Her body was floating, naked, as if she were in a dream. Her arms ached fiercely, feeling heavy as if someone had wrapped lead rings around her wrists. Her head pounded tremendously, almost causing her to scream if she could.

Wait.

She couldn't scream.

There was something in her mouth and nose, keeping her silent in this dreamworld. She opened her eyes in a flash... Only to find herself within a vat of liquid, thousands of wires attached to her body, and a ventilator coming from her mouth to the top of the vat. She screamed, clouds of bubbles flowing free from her mask, before she heard the voices of the people outside. She heard their voices in her head, causing her to scream even more.

"It seems subject 76 is awake. Initiate umbilical severance and vat flush."

The wires detached from her body as the liquid began to drain below her. Her breather snapped off, leaving her gasping for breath within the glass cylinder. It opened, and she stumbled out of it before collapsing onto the floor, as her vision once again began to fade.

Conclusion

Several years pass until she turns nineteen. Sarah Delucey has been conditioned by her Arachnos 'peers', subjugating her to propaganda and personal power, until she became the corrupted, loyalistic Arachnos Widow she is today. She is independent, prone to acts of sadism, and a cruel enforcer of Arachnos ideals and laws. She demands respect, whether it is for her or her superiors, and obeys orders completely and without question. She is no android, and she does have a personality, yet she rarely shows it to those she doesn't trust.

At the age of twenty-six, she defects from Arachnos, slaughtering the entirety of her division before being hunted down by Kasugano Kurono. After violent confrontation, she was abducted back into Arachnos and subjugated to therapy where her loyalty to Arachnos was reinstated.

After a period of fallout within the ranks, she inherited the Arachnos Espionage Division through the efforts of Sand Fox. And through hostile takeover to dethrone Sand Fox from his tyrancy, she then acquired the Arachnos Unified Coalition by a majority vote.
