How She Came to the Isles
The younger years
Katina Airling, was born estimated in the fall of 1985, though she does not know for sure. A family found her on their doorstep at the age of 3. She doesn't remember who they were or how she got there. Life with "the family" seemed to be going all right...until she got into a fight with someone. A small boy with blonde hair that teased her all the time. That day is when "the family" and Kat, realized she was not normal...or even human. She had grown tired of this boy, that constantly picked on her. He was older, and didn't seem to have anything better to do with his time, than to pester Kat. He took it too far though, throwing a rock and hitting Kat in the eye. That is when the sounds started. Her muscles tensed as the sound of bones snapping and joints twisting was heard and from deep within her a deep in-human growl was released. She had shifted, in front of this boy and lunged for him. The only real thing that Kat remembers after that first day was, being completely naked, the boy pinned under her, with pee-stained pants, along with tears and snot running down the sides of his face. Soon after, she was transported to an orphanage. And thus began, Kat's childhood in the human world. Kat didn't know who or what she was. It was believed for a long time that she was a mutant. She would be taken into a foster family, for a few months maybe a year or two max, but because of her temper and her abilities, soon the people would transport her to another home, not wanting to deal with the responsibility of trying to raise, who they believed to be a mutant who couldn't control their powers. Little did anyone know, that Kat was a werewolf. Not a cursed one, but a trueborn. Meaning she was born as one, and was able to change into that wolf form at will, when she could control it. When Kat was 14 she was offically adpoted by a couple, Samatha Airling and her husband Larry.
Kat, the teen years
Kat was able to hide powers from her new family for six months after she had been taken in. She had learned better control, though on nights of a full moon she had been especially cranky and moody. It was on a night such as this that Sam found out her daughter's secret. Kat was in the bathroom, cleaning out a slice in her hand she had gotten from trying to clean out a fish. The family dog had been watching her, and she wanted nothing more than to be left alone. He sat and stared at her, though she had tried to shoo him many times. Feeling his eyes on her, and her emotions running high at not being able to even clean out something so simple as a fish, she lost her temper and shifted in the bathroom, smashing the mirror. "I'm a failure! I can't do anything right!!", Kat thought. The sound of the glass sent her mother, Sam, upstairs from the kitchen to see what was going on. And there stood before Sam, a large grey wolf. Sam stood completely still a moment as she looked upon the beast in the bathroom, before staring into Kat's eyes, then she took a breath and said "Calm down girl, nothing to be so mad about". Sam shooed the dog and walked into the bathroom and closed the door behind her. Taking the paw of her daughter she examined it as it healed quickly. Sam smiled lovingly up at Kat, "See ya are already healin' up. Now clean this mess and head back downstairs for dinner".
Sam turned around and left the room. Kat's eyes grew wide before she shifted back to her human form. No screams, no calls for help, nothing other than the usual rebuttle from her mom when she messed up. Kat made her way back downstairs to see Sam sitting with a plate of food next to her, as she ate her dinner. Kat made her way to her plate and looked up at Sam a moment. "What? Not hungry? You usually eat about three plates there babygirl", Sam said looking at Kat with concern. And that is when Kat broke down and started to cry. Sam took Kat into her arms and soothed her gently, "No matter who or what ya are, you are still my daughter Katrina. Never forget that"
Time to leave
Sam and Kat had been able to keep the secret from Larry, Kat's adpoted father until she was 16. He had found out on accident when he attempted to shoot a transformed Kat who had attacked a pack of coyotes who had been roaming on their land, and attacking some of the livestock. Sam had stopped him from opening fire on Kat, by pushing the gun up towards the sky "It's Kat Larry! Don't shoot!", and that is when Kat shifted back to her human form. Larry just stared at her a moment, before letting out a sigh.."Well I thought you gals had been hiding something from me..Just couldn't put my finger on what though", was his response before locking the safety on the gun, and heading back into the house. He walked back into the house and started to work on fixing the sink in the kitchen. Sam smiled at Kat, and she returned it, thinking he didn't care about what he had just seen. They were wrong. It soon became apparent that Kat was not a mutant but something more when, Larry's mother had sent Kat a silver chained pendent as a Christmas present. When Larry put it on Kat, it immediately began to burn her skin and she broke out into a horrible rash around her neck, causing Sam and Larry to take her to the emergency room for treatment. When Sam did research on silver allergies, she came upon a legend about werewolves. It was then that she realized what Kat was, and told Larry and her daughter about it. After that, things started to change within Larry.
Finacial pressures had started to build as the gunshop that Sam had inhereted started to slow down when it came to profits. Debts and bills were starting to pile up and though Sam took a part-time job at nights, money was still very tight. Kat had noticed a change in Larry, but couldn't place her finger on it. He had started to become very distant, not wanting much to do with her, other than making sure she was eating and getting exercise. He made it a point to make sure she was healthy, other than that he didn't seem to care. Kat chalked it up to him being stressed out and didn't think twice about it. Then the night happened. It was three days after Kat had turned 18, and she was looking into getting a full time job to help make ends meet, or at least enough to help support herself to not be a burden on her family. Larry told her he had set up an interview with a potential employer for her, at a resturant. Kat went to there at 3pm for the interview. As she waited she looked around and noticed something was not right. It was 3pm and there was no one about, and before she could get up, a rag soaked in chloroform was wrapped over her nose and mouth.
When Kat came too, she woke up, chained with silver shackles to the walls of the basement in her home with a cloth wrapped and tied tightly in her mouth. She looked up with frightened eyes to see Larry standing before her. A sly smirk on his face. He spoke coldly to her.."Now freak..time to earn your keep." Kat shook her head not understanding what he meant, and he grabbed her by the top of the head and slammed it back into the stone wall, "It's real simple. You are gonna make pups for me to sell. You are gonna be my meal ticket out of the debt you and your mom have brought on me. So be a good little doggy and do what your master tells you." he laughed a moment. Then suddenly a loud smack was heard coming from behind him, as Larry fell to the ground, with Sam standing behind him. A frantic look was in her eyes as she started to search Larry's pants for the key to the shackles. Sam found it quickly and started to undo the chains, freeing Kat's hands from the burning silver. Kat pulled the cloth from her mouth and looked at her mom, Sam shushed her "I heard him, everything he said. Kat you need to..." that is when Larry hit Sam upside the head knocking her to the ground, he shoved her out of the way and went to chain Kat back up. He had not knocked out Sam though, and she grabbed his legs, holding him as best she could..Kat quickly undid the chains about her feet and as she was freed, Sam yelled at her "Run Kat! Run! And don't look back!!" Kat sprinted from the house and shifted into her wolf form, doing as her mother instructed, never looking back. Kat traveled from her home in Montana, across the US, before hopping a ship which lead to the Isles.
The Iron HorseMen
A person, only known as "She" found Kat on the streets of Mercy. It was a cool day and Kat was sitting on the steps looking out over the water. "She" approached Kat and sniffed at her. Kat spun around to see who it was that approached her from behind. "She" stared at her a moment, and then smirked. "Hey there, looking lonely. Need a friend?" Kat smelled the air, and realized, that "She" was just like Kat. Only more confident, more domineering. Kat nodded her head, and "She" and Kat started to spend time together. "She" told Kat about their kind as best as "she" could, taught Kat how to track prey, how to control herself more, and most important, how to behave as she should, as a wolf. "She" offered Kat a place to stay, a place where Kat would be safe, a place of others like her, a pack. "But first. You need Nelo's say so" "She" told Kat. And so, that is how Kat met Nelo. "She" brought Kat before Nelo in the D. He looked at Kat, up and down as "She" stood next to Nelo. "Nelo is the Alpha Wolf, He is in charge so be a good girl and do whatever he askes when he meets you" Kat was told. So Kat did as instructed when he approached her. "So, Nelo..What do you think? Can I keep her?""She"asked. Nelo scratched himself and grunted. "If'n ya want her, make sure she knows 'er place" Nelo replied. Kat let out a sigh of relief. She had a home again, and hopefully a family.
Nelo and "She" had started up a relationship. And Kat was fine with that, Nelo was a good Alpha, and made it a point to get to know her. He and Kat would often talk about nothing at all, just enjoyed each other's company. But Kat knew where she stood in the pack, and did not want to try anything to mess up what she had. "She" became the Alpha Female and Kat respected and adored her. At long last it seemed Kat had a home. She had a boyfriend named Deuce, she had a roof over her head and food in her belly. Everything was perfect. At least for a little while. And then, everything fell apart. Deuce had been captured and thrown back in jail and "She" and Nelo broke up, after a horrible falling out, and "She" took their son Dravin, with her. That is when it happened. Nelo and Kat started spending more and more time together. Kat supported Nelo as best she could, being the ear that he needed, the warm body in the bed when he couldn't sleep, and the shoulder for him to lean on. She let him vent and she hugged him when he needed it. Soon, their relationship bloomed into more than just a friendship, it blossomed into love. When Deuce was released from prison after 4 months, and returned to the IHMC, Kat ended things with him, so that she could truly be with Nelo. After that, Kat became Nelo's mate and the Alpha Female of the pack, helping him rebuild the IHMC when many members left. She also took Nelo's son Dravin, as her own when he was brought back to his father.
She now spends her time with the IHMC going through with her with duties as Alpha Female of the pack, being a wife to Nelo, and raising their two sons. And since her mother came back into her life, after leaving Larry, Kat's life has never been better.
Personality
Kat is a strong willed woman who loves her friends and family above anything else. She is fiercely loyal to them. She can be very loving and sweet, also very friendly, so long as no one is rude to her, or her pack. Kat is bisexual and as long as she loves the girl and Nelo loves the same girl as well, it is not uncommon for them to bring her into their relationship.
Alpha Female
Though Kat is the Alpha Female of her pack, she tries to treat all of the females as equal. She is fully in her right to throw her weight around, though she doesn't too often, unless a situation occurs among the women that calls for it. Other than that, the girls are her family and she loves them all.
Family and Friends
Nelo Angilo- Nelo is Kat's Alpha, mate, and husband. Though they have had rough times, Kat loves Nelo with all her being. She respects his position as the leader of both the IHMC and the pack. They were married in January of 2012 and on their wedding day she gave birth to their son Gavin.
Skye Delcinea- Skye Delcinea is one of Kat's best friends, which is funny considering she is a vampire. Skye is the girl that Kat has said, "If someone is trying to mess with your man, and you want to deal with the girl, Skye is the chick who is first to ride with you to handle her." Skye is the only vampire who is able to tell Kat how it is, without losing her tongue. Because Kat knows, it comes from a place of deep love and respect.
Deadly Delirium- DD is another one of Kat's best friends. DD has helped Kat on many different occasions, mainly with Kat's relationship with Nelo. DD has always been there for Kat, been a shoulder for her to lean on when she needed someone to cry to. DD even was involved in a relationship with Nelo and Kat for a time, being their girlfriend. Though that is no longer the case, Kat still holds DD as someone very special and she is always welcome in the IHMC in Kat's eyes.
Aerie Blue- Aerie is the sweetest person that Kat has met. The sweet and innocent wolf spirit won over Kat and Nelo with her gentle yet agressive ways. She has been there to help Kat with both Dravin and Gavin. And has been accepted into Kat and Nelo's relationship. Aerie loves both Nelo and Kat, and they both love her as well.
Dravin Macleod- Dravin is the son of Nelo and "She". And though he isn't biologically her son, Kat loves him as if he were. Dravin calls Kat his mom and Kat wouldn't have it any other way.
Gavin Macleod- Gavin is the youngest of the two sons of Nelo. He is Kat and Nelo's son and is a scrappy young pup.
Samatha Airling- Without Sam Kat would have been used to breed pups for her adpoted father. Sam loves Kat regardless of her being a werewolf and Kat loves her as her mom, regardless of her being a human. Sam left Larry and found her way to the Isles and is back in Kat's life permanently.
