Affiliations

Graywing has more recently sought out employment with the Reciprocators, primarily out of a desire to set her life well and truly on the straight and narrow and somewhat out of a desire to find a workplace where, blatently, people don't hate her.

Now issued with a real sense of motivation, Olivia pursues her job with a new air of inspiration. Seeking and going to extra lengths to ensure that Paragon's Heroes get every scrap of intel they need.

Personality

Graywing is a very sharp witted and intelligent character, often leading her to make use of her equally sharp tongue at times. While understandably very skillful, she often tends to be a bit arrogant, a tendency that has landed her in hot water several times in the past. Graywing also has a sharp eye for antiques and expensive items, a skill forged from both her days as a professional thief and her archeology knowledge.

Powers

Olivia has no "powers" to speak of. While very fit and very agile, her only form of offense is acquired or issued weaponry and her only form of defense is her reaction times and agility with a helping hand from her Stealth Suit.

Equipment

The Wyatt-Moss "Black Shadow" Tactical operations suit

As far as sneaking suits go, this is considered the big daddy. With ports installed to ready the suit for muscle augmentation and with inbuilt light registering and leveling cells which feed directly into the HUD, it is constructed from advanced polymers which are designed to be flexible, quiet, hard wearing and moderately bulletproof.

All of this makes the Black Shadow suit the most advanced mass production stealth suit of our time.

The "Eviscerator" Model D Phase Aligned Neuro-Disruption Blades

Graywing's primary weapons are a pair of high tech wrist blades. While at first glance they seem to be nothing but a pair of sharpened titanium blades, the fact is that the body of the weapon is actually intangible, the real sting of these weapons coming from the field that surrounds them. The field is designed to directly stimulate the pain nerves of any area it strikes, wracking the opponent with incredible levels of agony and eventually driving the brain into a "neurological override", a shutdown of the brain's higher functions, causing unconsciousness.

Should the need arise, this field can be deactivated and the blades returned to their usual razor sharp edge. Graywing has never done this nor seen the need to so far...

Weaknesses

For all her high tech equipment and training, Graywing is still human. Injury is still a very real concern for her and will hamper her ability depending on the severity. This coupled with her arrogance can land her in a lot of trouble.

Character History

Early Years

Olivia Erin De'Havaland was born the second of two children to Marco and Maria De'Havaland. Marco was at that time a somewhat troubled Hero, bearing the title of Shadowstormm was diagnosed with lymphatic cancer when she turned one. Her mother, ever dutiful in her dedication to her husband and children raised the pair with only the best of intentions, seeing to it that they both grew up fit and healthy.

Olivia's world would be swiftly shattered two years later when her father took it upon himself to use the lives of his own family as a bargaining chip to save himself from his own ailing health. A grand total of twenty-three would die on August 11th, among those the young girl's own mother. Olivia on the other hand escaped the horrors of her father's malice along side her aunt, one Agetha Morcombe. The pair of them would flee Paragon city and after a few days make their way to Agetha's birthplace of Los Angeles.

The next few years would be hard for Livvy, not knowing her aunt and having to cope with the death of her mother, the potential loss of her brother (who was by this time in Israel training with the Red Lions), and desperately trying to comprehend why her father, a person whom she should have been able to trust, had turned upon his own family so swiftly.

Schooling

As time wore on and as Olivia started school, she showed an incredible knack for history and sciences, especially anything pertaining to a computer. She also demonstrated a skill with lateral thinking and problem solving, something that would come in handy during her later years. Her true talent however was sports. Gymnastics and long distance running especially. By the time she was fifteen, she was immensely fit and even more agile. However not all was entirely smiles and sunshine in Olivia's life.

Agetha was by no means a well to do woman and with her health beginning to fail in her autumn years, funds became even tighter. With the pressures of a modern teenager weighing down upon young Olivia, she began taking risks in order to keep up with the social status quo. Shoplifting became a common occurrence for her,a sharp wit and a swift hand being the only thing keeping both authorities and prying friends off her back. While she was never discovered, it opened her eyes to the possibility that some things in this world were easier to take rather than to earn.

By the time Olivia finished high school, her skill with artifacts had garnered the attention of Paragon City University's Archeology Department, who offered her a full scholarship to study at the Steel Canyon campus. both Livvy and her aunt were ecstatic about the news and promptly moved back to Paragon despite lingering concerns for the young woman's safety. For a further six months Olivia would continue to bedazzle both PCU and her aunt with her hunger for the knowledge which they issued her. Things would turn for the worse toward the end of the year.

Further Losses

The Rikti assault had a profound effect on the entire world, most notably Paragon City. As typical civilians, both Olivia and Agetha spent the months darting from shelter to shelter until the crisis was over. With the world around them more or less restored to normal, she continued her studies as best possible, though PCU Steel Canyon certainly ended up weathering the storm better than most places. It would be on her only closest relative at the time that the Invasion would take the worst toll. Agetha was by this stage overcome with the stresses of both being a surrogate mother and the shell shock brought on by the Rikti Assault and in early 2003 suffered from a severe stroke which claimed her life.

Olivia was mortified. The loss of her (seemingly) only family member left her feeling alone and scared with now way to support herself aside from a meager part-time job. With her being the sole benefactor of a hefty stack of bills and financial problems, she remembered back to her less than legal days and made a decision that would affect the rest of her professional career.

Dawn of the Lighthand

Olivia had learned a seemingly important lesson from her days occasionally shoplifting expensive items: things were surprisingly easy to take providing you were good enough. Her new form of financial support began by utilizing the skills she had inadvertently gained from her rigorous training in high school, sneaking into small retail firms and emptying cash registers to keep her finances sustained while still keeping her somewhat useless job at Up and Away Burger as a sort of cover. Her big break into serious money would come when she first found her way into pawn broker and stole a particularly pricey necklace.

While initially considering it a foolish move, buyers for the item were oddly rather ample and most certainly cashed up.

She had found her new calling. From the age of seventeen, she would begin thieving her way across Paragon City, pilfering on behalf of rich fools with too much money and a serious envy for that which wasn't theirs. A year and a half later would see her outstanding bills long gone and her with the self inspired moniker of "Lighthand", a reference to the delicate nature of her job and the gentle hands required. In a rather odd note, her quickly growing knowledge of ancient artifacts and the ability to identify them only helped to bolster her skills as a professional thief.

As the jobs became more complex, so did the paychecks begin to swell. She had soon tapped into all the skills she had learned in her early to mid teens, her knowledge of computers assisting her to broaden her horizons into data theft and experimental Technology theft.

By the age of twenty she was an urban legend to many in the slightly shady underworld. Lighthand could get hold of anything, anywhere, for the right price. This reputation would only serve to see her in hot water in the coming year when she was requested to assist with a job in Cairo.

Turning Points

Her newest contract in Egypt couldn't have been timed any better if she had organized it herself. PCU had been preparing a trip to Egypt for their students which Olivia swiftly agreed to. While she was honestly there for the learning experience, her newest job was also a powerful motivator due to the unfathomably weighty paycheck.

What she would not expect would be her 'assistance'. A smallish band of mercenaries led by a man code named "Black Sword 7". His troops would be trouble from the get go, their complete lack of any stealth maneuvers or professional conduct nearly jeopardizing her Op on three separate occasions during the evening. It would be through a routine hack that she would learn a horrible truth behind the job. Her objective was to steal an Anubis statue apparently made from pure obsidian. The truth was far worse. The statue was actually made from an amazingly stable alien element previously unknown to many across the world. While harmless in its natural form, it had the ability to generate amazing levels of energy from the slightest influence of an electrical current. Its potential for weapons technology was terrifying to say the least. Even more terrifying was who had requested her job: The Council, more specifically a man by the name of Archon Burkholder.

Olivia attempted to relay the information to Black Sword 7 in the hopes that he would be just as shocked as she was. Her attempt failed miserably. It appeared that he Merc was only concerned with collecting his bonus from a successful delivery and issued her with a stern warning that failure wasn't an option. It was this that lead her to do the only thing she could: trip the alarm, and sell them out.

With the mercenaries stunned and baffled by her betrayal, she ran and found her way out of the facility and escaped with the Anubis, hitchhiking on a plane back to Paragon inside the well of the port side landing gear. Upon her landing, Olivia immediately made her way back to the only people that would listen, the only people that would recognize her concern: City Hall. Its various departments scrutinized the statue before coming to the very real conclusion that it was everything she said it was. Some congratulated her, some ignored her and some scowled at her for even laying a hand in it in the first place.

Whatever the response, It was Susan Davies, the primary supervisor for Paragon City's ELITE division that recognized the situation she was in and her unique talents to have obtained such a rare artifact. Instantaneously recognizing her skills, ELITE's wily director proposed a bargain: Utilize your skills on behalf of the greater good, help us help the heroes of the city and we can ensure your protection. Olivia's choice was swift indeed. As of that moment she would set aside the mantle of the thief and accept the new occupation of a fully fledged operative. She would become Graywing.

From now on it would be her job to ensure that the REAL heroes of Paragon City got every shred of intel they needed to put the city's most evil behind bars. Her Job would not finish there however, with the assistance of her new equipment she would serve as a shadowy enforcer, bringing down the worst of the city's criminals and ensuring that they met the full brunt of the law.

From the ashes would be born a mistress of the shadows, a matriarch of stealth, a silent lady of justice. She will never receive any form of thanks from the public, that was not her style. With every smiling face of appreciation however, she would see that her job was done. That would indeed be satisfaction enough.

With that, Graywing was born and a new era of evil shuddered in fear at the eyes of vigilance they could never see...
