History

Eighteen Years ago, Julie was proudly beginning her education in Kindergarten. What she didn't know is that the school was downwind from an industrial complex that had a rather poor safety record. One day, there was a "small" leak at the plant. It was quickly fixed and the plant manager didn't bother to tell anyone about it. However, the gas had the potential to have a rather profound effect in isolated individuals. There are some people who are genetically prone to superhuman powers, but would not develop them naturally without some form of external stimulus. This gas proved to be that stimulus.

Julie was not the only person in the school who was so affected. There was a small group of people, all of whom were in the sixth grade at that point who would likewise be changed.

The changes were not immediately noticeable. Indeed, it was nearly 13 years before the first person began to notice that she was different. The older group gained their powers first, and when they realized what had happened, they formed their own small supergroup, dealing with the low end troublemakers in their area. They were Madame Insight, Wiendre, Lady Blackout and Paradocs. Julie saw them "at work" every now and then, as she worked a variety of typical teenaged jobs in pre-Rikti Baumton.

Eventually, that group shattered, with Paradocs dead, and Lady Blackout insane. The group went their own ways, with Madame Insight focusing on her investment portfolio, and Wiendre running a small bookstore.

Julie was a student at the University in Steel City the night the Rikti came, a night that would change her life. Not only did she lose her parents that horrible night, but it was also the first night that her ability to manipulate gravity began to show.

After the Rikti invasion, Julie moved to a small apartment in Atlas Park, where her powers continued to develop. She'd amuse herself at times by throwing her stuffed animals around without even touching them. As her powers grew, she looked around her block and saw the roving bands of Outcasts. In that moment, she realized that her powers were far more than just a cool thing to do at night, but a call to do something about the world around her.

At about the same time, Madame Insight and Wiendre got back together, along with Alandrina, a reformed convict they'd run into in the past. Little did they expect to have Julie join in on their "fun", but she did. Since that day, Guidestar has been a regular presence on the streets of Paragon City.

Other distinguishing features

Guidestar almost always has a bright smile on her face.

Strength level

Guidestar possesses the normal level of strength appropriate for a girl her age, height, weight, and build that engages in physical activity.

Known superhuman powers

Guidestar is able to create intense gravitational fields. She's learned to use them in various ways. At times, she creates micro black holes near a villain to freeze them in place. They don't last long, but the fiends never enjoy the feeling! She's also learned to create anti-gravity fields to throw things high into the air, as well as directed gravity to throw items at her target.

She also can put a gravity field around herself, creating a very effective forcefield. She's not experimented with her forcefield abilities too much yet, but she plans upon.

For a time, she used her gravity fields to allow her to run with no friction, but more recently, she's taken to using them to enable her to fly. She's also recently learned to directly blast power from her hands to attack her foes.

Other abilities

Limitations

She's always been a very open person, and she's finding that makes her even more vunerable to psychic assaults.

Paraphernalia

Her costume is home made, and since it's not one piece at all, it does take her a fair bit of time to get into it.

Weapons/Arsenal

None
