Introduction
5 AM: I wake up to the dim grey light of the sky not yet lit up by the sun. My feet roll onto the cold, rough wood floor of my room. I quietly pull on athletic shorts and a top and make my way towards the threshold of my home in Galaxy City. As I begin my run down to Gemini Park I think about how much fun it’ll be seeing all my school friends again for my birthday tonight, and can’t help but smile to myself.
6 AM: I finish showering and put on a pair of sweats and a tank and head for the kitchen. A few minutes later I’m enjoying my usual morning ritual of eggs scrambled, toast, and OJ. As I’m finishing my breakfast Dad shambles in, still half asleep. I toss him a few playful jabs as he stumbles by and smile “Morning!” He chuckles and cracks a joke, but I can see it in his eyes that he’s proud. “Won’t even let me make breakfast for the birthday girl?” he jokes. “Your mother would have been proud.” He says, and he seems to stare off for miles. I hug him tight and whisper “She would be proud of you too, I know. I am.” then I’m off to my room to get ready for the rest of the day.
7 AM: As I walk by Dad’s room I shout to him “Going to the dojo, love ya!” I’ve got my duffel with my fighting gloves and boots and a change of clothes. I take two connecting buses to the gym and get to work. I’ve been training hard for my next big fighting competition for months now, and my birthday is just another day as far as I’m concerned. Winners don’t take breaks.
12 PM: Another shower and a new set of clean clothes later and I’m meeting my best friend Jessi at the mall for lunch and an all expenses paid shopping trip for a new outfit to show-off tonight. Afterwards we go our separate ways until dinner and the bars later tonight.
Personality and Reputation
Laura Moretti was voted most likely to succeed in her class and it's plain to see why. She is tackles(sometimes literally) any challenge with such zest that it is difficult to imagine her failing. She is driven to help people who are unable to help themselves by the example set by her father and the stories she's heard of her mother. She is well known among her community for being deeply involved in several philanthropic organizations as well as her aggressive work in fighting crime in Galaxy City through neighborhood watch programs and organizations benefitting the local police precinct in which her father works. She is also renowned in her community for literally fighting crime on occasion. As a fighter with several championship wins under her proverbial belt she feels it is her duty to directly intervene when the opportunity is presented, despite her father's pleading not to get involved. She may say that true altruism doesn't exist, but it's easy to say that she's as close as you can get to it.
Goals and Motivation
Her goal as a hero is as simple as can be; to stop crime and protect Paragon's citizens. She has been criticized by media sources for being too concentrated on helping the individual, rather than sacrificing one person for the good of all; a point she takes great pride in. She has been quoted saying that "Every citizen of my city deserves to be protected, even if it means working twice as hard on the part of our heroes. Heroes don't take breaks." She is motivated by the example her father set for her growing up, and has been inspired and driven by his example to become the selfless patron saint of the weak that they call The Gut Check Girl.
