Personality

Myer's-Briggs

ENFPs are initiators of change who are keenly perceptive of possibilities, and who energize and stimulate through their contagious enthusiasm. They prefer the start-up phase of a project or relationship, and are tireless in the pursuit of new-found interests. ENFPs are able to anticipate the needs of others and to offer them needed help and appreciation. They bring zest, joy, liveliness, and fun to all aspects of their lives. They are at their best in situations that are fluid and changing, and that allow them to express their creativity and use their charisma. They tend to idealize people, and can be disappointed when reality fails to fulfill their expectations. They are easily frustrated if a project requires a great deal of follow up or attention to detail.

Subjective Account

On the surface, Shinobu is a giant ball of endless enthusiasm. She seems to live life without a care, bounding from project to project without really considering long-term repercussions, living entirely in the moment. This is ironic, considering that she's a time-traveller. Her enthusiasm and love of life, however, are extremely contagious; she's been known to crack a smile on even the most stoic of faces, and even the most stalwart of hard-asses tend to suffer from protectionist impulses towards the young girl after little more than several minutes of meeting.

Shinobu does not like to talk about her past. She remembers more than her sister does, and she remembers more than she's told anyone. She remembers that men took her and performed experiments on her, and she remembers hurling insults at and physically abusing the men trying to take her sister until they took her instead. She remembers the punishments she received, and, most of all, she remembers the experiments themselves. All of this together has driven her to a slightly unhinged mental status. When queried about her past, Shinobu tends to get very quiet and mutter "not thinking about that" to herself over and over again until she suffers a mental lapse, which her brain developed as a security measure to prevent her from thinking about her painful memories over and over again.

Due to this, Shinobu may seem distant, vague, or unintellectual at times, perhaps even coming off as dense in certain situations. In reality, Shinobu is not "entirely there." Due to the scientific experiments conducted upon her mind and body when she was younger, Shinobu's mental capacity has become somewhat limited. She is not stupid, but her brain is only capable of processing so much information before it shuts down and reboots, effecting wiping out her short-term memory, a side effect of the mental lapse ability that her brain developed in response to painful memories. This seems to occur at random on occasion, but tends to have a greater chance to occur when she's under a great deal of stress or in very noisy, unfamiliar environments with a great deal of information to process. When such a reboot happens, Shinobu forgets about everything and anything she may have been discussing, have seen, have heard, or have done in the last few minutes or so. It is not uncommon for her to say exactly the same sentence with exactly the same syntax and tone inflections as she may have said several minutes earlier after a lapse.

Her mental disorder has manifested itself in other ways, as well. She is obsessive-compulsive about the order of certain things, and has arranged the books on her bookshelves in her room in exactly the same manner on each and every bookshelf. She also has a tendency to forget when certain things are and are not appropriate. Mostly, this shows itself as a penchant for materializing a fishing pole from her powersuit and fishing wherever and whenever she has a chance, including in puddles, in caves, on dry land, and off of skyscrapers.

Powers

Shinobu by herself is superhuman but not exceedingly powerful. She has above above average strength, is capable of moving very quickly when concentrating fully, has strong regenerative properties, and a mild resistance to most forms of injuries. These abilities can all be attributed to the nanomachines running through her bloodstream, which augment her natural human form. Due to these same nanomachines, Shinobu is incapable of contracting any standard illness from current Paragon time. She is resistant to most stronger diseases, illnesses, and poisons, but requires a booster shot of special nanomachines for overcoming such situations.

When Shinobu summons her powersuit, Woglinde, however, she becomes more than a mere superhuman. The suit, activated by a gemstone on her ear, is an intelligent hardsuit device, capable of chronometric manipulation (Kinetics) and invisible blasts (Mind Control). Oftentimes, these blasts have terrible effects upon her foes, rendering them incapable of actions within the timestream.

Woglinde has three modes. The first, Rheingold mode, is the mode most capable of time travel. It is a basic mode, without many of the bells and whistles of the subsequent modes, but it still retains most of the functionality of the other suits. It is, however, limited in output. When Woglinde is subject to backwards time-travel or in a situation in which power conservation is otherwise necessary, Woglinde automatically enters Rheingold mode.

The second mode, Walkure mode, is the mode most commonly seen in Paragon City. It has enhanced power output, stronger armor, and in general is much, much faster than Rheingold mode, capable of cycling attacks up to 60% more quickly. Shinobu has also been known to state that Walkure mode "just looks so much more shiney" than Rheingold mode.

The third mode, Gotterdammerung mode, has only been unlocked in one situation, wherein Shinobu and her sister Emi were escaping the Nemesis laboratory in which they were subjected to various experiments. Interestingly enough, it was the first time Shinobu truly used Woglinde under her own will. The mode is extremely heavily armored, but despite this is very, very nimble, capable of dodging all but the most accurate of attacks. It also displays increased accuracy and damage with attacks.
