Background

Growing Up

Growing up in a suburban neighborhood, surrounded by houses and the trappings of a quite normal life Anne didn't really know anything nearing strife. She was never considered a gifted child, never smarter than her peers, never stronger or more talented in anything. In all respects she was normal, perhaps even a little below standard in some areas (mostly math and the sciences.) Her father, however, was quite the intelligent man, the sort who was pushing the boundaries of science and technology.

With the apparent mutant capital of the world so close by Fredrick quickly became enamored of the idea of artificially creating these beings, doing research in his spare time and eventually managing grants to continue his work and further it. At Anne's fourteenth birthday her mother died of a cardiac arrest at a young age, beginning a series of questions and rumors circulating about the family, especially considering Fredrick's apparent lack of care that his wife had died and his continued absence in his children's life.

Changing

When Anne was sixteen her father brought her in to be part of his research, beginning a process of home-schooling and effectively removing her from the outside world. According to records from the time Anne was enrolled in a foreign school and began tour of studying abroad that could never be confirmed, indeed had been proven false. During Anne's time working in her father's lab, a self contained structure located beneath a storage warehouse in Paragon City, she could be considered to be a lab assistant, working with her father to augment humans with technology recovered and reverse engineered from the Rikti invasion as well as a multitude of different sources, including but not limited to alternate worlds, artifacts bought/acquired from travelers and people stranded on Earth.

During her seventeenth year Fredrick began to augment his daughter, at first minor changes in her nervous system, leading eventually into complete replacements of body parts. It has been noted that during much of this time Anne was either drugged or otherwise incapable of escape or fighting back. The methods used have still not been fully identified.

Escape

After three years of having her body augmented Anne was considered ready for general testing. After vigorous attempts to gauge her strength in a closed environment have proven her capabilities she was set out with a task and set free to do it. It will be noted that Anne has been concluded to have been suffering under Stockholm syndrome. Successfully completing her task, which involved grand larceny, Anne was returned to the lab where more tests were undergone.

Information regarding her escape is currently incomplete. According to reports and evidence found Anne managed to subdue the lab technicians and minor security in a facility and escaped with only a single casualty. Fredrick M. was killed in his lab his body burned almost beyond recognition though pathology exams have concluded he was already dead from blunt force trauma to his skull before the fire in the lab consumed him.

Anne escaped into Paragon city where she was picked up for vagrancy shortly after, brought to the local jail for processing and the intent was to release her into the care of local facilities until a fingerprint match returned implicating her in a recent robbery.

Incarceration

Pleading guilty to the crime of grand larceny and confessing to the murder of her father (to which she was never convicted, the case remains pending to this day upon the further gathering of evidence, the official word that she would be pardoned of that charge never given) Anne was sentenced to a time of seven to ten years for the larceny to be served in Ziggursky Penitentiary.

During this time Anne underwent numerous psychological testings, always proving to be quite polite and well mannered. She displayed no violent tendencies with the exception of any attempt to gauge her abilities. Such tests were met with hostility and in one case a guard was injured in her attempt to remove herself from the testing bay.

It is noted by her psychiatrist that Anne displayed signs of remorse over not only what she had done but also a regret that she was no longer considered normal, her official classification as an augmented being putting her under the same rules and treatments of mutant villains.

Escape 2.0

It is noted that Anne refused to escape during the several Arachnos prison breaks, instead completing her sentence and being released on parole. Anne has since relocated herself to the Etoile islands and made her home there, outside the jurisdiction of the US with the help of her parole officer who manages to keep the officials unaware of her flight from US soil. Further reports of her whereabouts and activities are incomplete. It is speculated that Anne has since begun work with an agency involved in a multitude of contracts, though Anne's specific involvement has not been confirmed in any suspected case.

Personality

Anne is an extremely open and unguarded personality, oftentimes seeming friendly to the point of fault by most. She lacks proper social conditioning and often finds herself speaking her mind without filter. She has an ingrained sense of politeness that is often tempered by her lack of knowing how to function in certain social situations. She is considered easily influenced by the opinions of others and displays frustration in bursts of violence, most often to strangers. It is known that she has tested her own strength at times, going so far as to break down the walls to her cell (to which she received a lengthy stay in solitary confinement.)

Notes

Physical exams during her incarceration have outlined the changes to her physical form. Both arms and legs removed and replaced by mechanical parts. The outlying skin is synthetic, with extensive sensor relays to simulate touch and feeling. Her inner organs have been modified, no longer classified as human however the function remains the same. Her olfactory and auditory systems have been enhanced, her ears reshaped and changed to function at a higher capability. She has been given a tail to help in with balance and movement. The most traumatic change however would be the inclusion of a control system in her brain. This mini-computer acts as the receptor to the information received by her mechanical parts (touch, scent, sight, taste and hearing) interpreting it and working independantly of her brain to function on the knowledge gained. In this way her reaction speeds can be considered super human, except when she takes voluntary control over herself. At this point there is a marked decrease in her sensory abilities.

Affiliations

- Erri: Initially knowing the girl as the blind ninja, Anne has quickly tried to be closer friends with this elf, finding her intriguing and perhaps as close to a person as she has been in quite a while. In recent days however Anne feels quite nervous around the other, feeling her presence has brought more strife than help.

- Raine Heartfall: Only knowing the girl through insulting and confrontational encounters Anne has learned to trust the girl, though she considers her violent and dangerous, not only to herself but others. Her knowledge of the others chaotic nature shows itself most evidently in how often this woman seems to hurt those she might consider a friend, though Helli's belief that the girl is loyal to her friends has made her eager to be considered one.

- All Hallows Evil: Known as Michael, or her affectionate petname Twitchy, she met the formerly blind man at Pocket D, tending to him when she decided to work as a part-time bartender there and when given the choice between two boys who liked her, chose him. Their relationship, in her mind though, is a close friendship, since she has no proper definition of what a boyfriend might be.

- Sinclair Waters: Her parole officer and the man who made it possible for Anne to live outside the US (breaking a few rules in the process but no one really minds) The man has become a sort of surrogate father for her, oftentimes going to him not only on the required visits but just dropping in or calling in order to talk, or to have someone to give her advice when she doesn't understand how she should react. Brash and jaded himself, Sinclair doesn't necessarily give the best advice at times, though he does seem to consider a daughter of sorts.

Current Events

Breaking Down

Her non-organic systems (all things cybernetic) are kept in working order through nanites developed by the man who created. However, these nanites have a relatively short lifespan and while they are usually able to heal her wounds, repair broken bones and restore her systems to what it considers normal, their declining numbers has left the nanites to prioritize their functions. Because of this change in priorities Anne has been left in a steadily declining state, at first weak, easily injured and most often tired and has culminated in her inability to function at a higher than vegetative state of late, a last ditch effort by her nanites to keep the host alive, even if non-functioning.

Recovery

When Anne went missing for a few days, her boyfriend Michael decided to go looking for her. Using a variety of methods he was eventually led to the door of her parole officer, Sinclair Waters and given her address. Breaking into her home Michael found Anne unconscious and unresponsive, putting her in the care of the military while he went searching for a way to save her. Meanwhile Sinclair, realizing that Anne hadn't just decided to stop with her necessary visits, went to seek out some friends of Anne's, more specifically Erri, Raine and someone named Reiko. Finding the first two he made them aware of the situation Anne was in, including where she was being held in custody in Paragon city as well as giving them the information necessary to find a source of the nanites Anne needs.

The pair not only acquired the nanites but magicked Anne away from the hospital, keeping her safe until she was able to recover and keeping an eye on her well beyond the level of friendship Anne might have expected, especially from Raine. Upon waking up from her near-coma Anne has discovered that some of the systems normally regulated and maintained by her nanites have been compromised, including but not limited to a lack of hearing.

Trivia / Minutiae

-Some of the changes to her systems included how she sees, hears and smells things, giving her extra-sensory abilities, though the cost was her sense of taste. Most often it fluctuates between a normal and having everything taste like lemons.

-The metallic nature of much of her bone structure leaves her quite susceptible to cold and heat, her body taking these temperatures and keeping them for long periods, making a normalized temperature difficult for Anne.
