The 'Insektoroid' is a mechanical lifeform known as Daedalus, who awoke in a junkyard near Paragon City. Once an innocent and statistics-loving visitor of Gemini Park, Daedalus soon became completely obsessed with Bridget Steward. Though he eventually received a Hero ID through Jessie Justice, Daedalus's violent nature, terror tactics, and constant stalking of Bridget Steward have left him without much stature in the hero community.

In terms of the game engine, Insektoroid is a Martial Arts/Super Reflexes scrapper created by @Vangelus in early 2005.

Personality

To most people, Daedalus presents himself as a polite intellectual. He is often prepared to serve the minor needs of others, and occasionally eagerly pursues his hobbies of statistical analysis and surveying (though few reciprocate said eagerness). His attempts at friendly social interaction often surface in the form of careful note-taking or the presentation of nearly incomprehensible and lengthy paper surveys.

However, Daedalus is driven almost purely by Desire (often capitalized, reason currently unknown). His true intent is to do whatever he can to be with the object of his Desire, which is currently Dr. Bridget Steward. What began as an apparently-innocent crush soon became a near religious devotion, which has both threatened and claimed several lives. Daedalus holds Bridget in such high regard that his internal monologues often refer to her as "Her", using a deifying capitalization.

Sometimes, Daedalus's politeness is affected by his observations of Bridget, leading to many incidents where he has drawn suspicion upon himself. He also tends to lose his civility when discussing magic, which he abhors. This, along with incidents where his stalking of Bridget has been either noticed or hypothesized, has led to his reputation becoming very grey among the Paragon City community.

Powers & Abilities

Martial Arts

Daedalus uses a semi-improvised martial arts style, based off of incomplete training he received shortly after his creation. The maneuvers tend to revolve around delivering strikes with the sawblade-bearing parts of his body.

Body-mounted Sawblades

On Daedalus's forearms, shins, and shoulders are a total of 6 razor-sharp sawblades. They are usually idle when he is not in combat, though they have been seen to move in tandem with bursts of anger.

Upon learning of Bridget Steward's hemophilia, Daedalus forced himself to learn to retract the sawblades for short periods of time. However, this ability is rarely used anymore.

Superhuman Reflexes

His powerful mind and crafted body allow Daedalus to avoid many incoming attacks. This is partly due to the unknown alloy that makes up his physicality, as it does not handle extreme amounts of damage very well.

Fear as a Weapon

During his feud with the Fae queen Nimue', Daedalus began to study the use of fear as a weapon against others. Embracing the reputation his violent tactics have given him, Daedalus is aware of many forms of psychological warfare. Choosing words to frighten criminals, maiming their comrades before them, and purposefully causing physical and emotional discomfort are among his tools. Unknown to anyone but his victims, Daedalus has also on occasion employed extreme forms of torture to terrify his opponents.

A growing personality quirk is that over time, he is more often using terror tactics to vent his own frustrations over his perceived ongoing separation from Bridget Steward.

Mysterious Physicality

Daedalus's body is not that of a conventional robot or android. Given its strange traits, he is not easily stopped by most predictable anti-automaton means.

Some notable traits are explained below.

Puzzle Body

During his first encounters with Bridget Steward, she discovered that Daedalus's body was in a state of disrepair mostly due to its components being in disarray. Realizing that a majority of his physicality was made up of interlocking and shiftable plates, Bridget spent several hours 'solving' the puzzle of his damaged body to repair him. She succeeded in returning him to a stable form, but thus far it is unknown what purpose his modular physicality serves.

Artificial Soul

In the midst of Daedalus's initial adoration of Bridget Steward, the hero known as Gossamer Blush attempted a brief sojourn into his artificial mind in order to give him the bravery to ask Bridget to accompany him to a museum exhibit. She found that he appeared to have some form of palpable psyche, but given the nature of things in Paragon City she did not feel the need to investigate further.

Later, in the face of Nimue's accusations that he was a mere automaton, Daedalus declared that he felt differently. He was certain that his sapience was more than a web of artificial intelligence programming.

As he tends to avoid the prolonged company of others, nobody has investigated further the nature of what gives Daedalus life.
