The Pilgrimage

Jake's Pilgrimage took place for approximately six months after the second Rikti attack upon Paragon City, following injuries sustained in defense of Maggie's Rock. Throughout the journey he travelled across large portions of the world, encountering a number of other heroes and villains and in each destination he carried out a number of actions that would have lasting repercussions. In a sense this Pilgrimage was to allow Jake to realise who he truly was and why he fought for what he did. Some of the connections made would last to this day while others would be long forgotten.

Europe

Following Jake's injuries at the hands of Despair his first intended destination was Europe, for it was the closest he could get to the home he left behind in his native dimension. Indeed, that was the equivalent continental location where his clan was based and he had also been informed by family that there were relations, friends and family there that would willingly put him up with places to stay during his journey.

He set off some two weeks after he had recovered, though certainly not recovered to a state that others would have considered acceptable. His chest wounds were still raw, the carapace soft and barely healed and his movements were still unsteady...but in the end he could not just sit around and wait. To one of his kind that would be considered a stagnant death. He set off by sea, facing his incredibly high fear of water for a necessary journey, taking with him a rucksack packed with various supplies and his somewhat unique motorcycle, 'Malice' (thus explaining why he set off by sea rather than flying across the ocean).

Ireland

After a sea journey aboard a rather uncomfortable and drab shipping vessel which lasted for over two weeks Jake and his belongings finally arrived within port in Dublin, Ireland. His first goal was simple - Maggie Love's Irish based branch of Maggie's Rock. Or that's what was originally planned at least. What actually took place was a journey from town to town, stopping off at local bars, churches and the like as Jake sought to come to terms with his own nature and what the world had left for him at this stage.

In one such town, two weeks and two days into his journey, he would find something of an answer. Parking his bike outside an old Catholic Church he slept and come morning slipped in, face and identity hidden under rags and robes. To the people of this town he was just another traveller, looking for a place to stay a few nights, looking for some help on his way. At first there was no issue with this, for he kept himself seperate from others and gave nothing away. But come that evening he noticed something off about the place.

The Church session was sombre. Not quite a funeral but damn close to one and the concern was a local man's missing daughter. The people seemed anxious, afraid of something that lay outside the town but no one was willing to open up about it. And as he watched the Priest deliver this sermon something caught his eye. Old predator's instincts picked up the unnatural distortions in the air, the differing scents and without warning he struck, knocking the unseen assailant away from its chosen target...the man who's daughter was missing.

The assailant revealed himself, a known international mutant terrorist by the name of the Urban Jackal. Words were traded and a skirmish broke out, within sacred ground of all places. Two top level predators clashed and only when the Jackal withdrew was Jake himself brought low by a club to the back of the head from one of the anxious and frustrated locals.

When he later awoke and was questioned a decision was reached that he was not one of the Fae threats that had been plaguing the town of late. Furthermore, someone of his kind could help with the search for the missing child. Though his mood was still sour and his head still sore he listened, hearing of how the town had been plagued for months approaching the child's 14th birthday and how the attacks had gotten worse after she disappeared, two weeks prior. Though Jake admitted he could not track the Fae, for their kind had no scent he could however track the Jackal. Though the mutant was long lived and his regenerative capabilities exceptional he still had a scent and as such could be followed.

Despite his protests Jake did not set out alone. The girl's father, a man by the name of (TO BE ADDED), insisted on coming with him, as did a number of the townsfolk. In the end he relented to only the father accompanying him, knowing full well of a father's duty to their child. The rest would only get in the way. The journey took little over a day, leading to a sparse patch of the highlands where the scent finally faded out. The human recognised the place and after a few moments agreed to tell Jake of its history.

Haunted land, said to be cursed by the Unseelie Court, a place of exile for a traitor, even of their own kind. What he could not figure out however was what they wanted with his daughter, or indeed with him. This in mind the pair dismounted and set off, carefully so to scale the heatherlands. It wasn't long before they came across the Jackal once more...but this time conflict did not break out. Instead the terrorist had grown bored of his employers and their haughty ways and with an almost sadistic glee revealed their hiding place and the details of those within. But before the mutant disappeared off he left a warning - he would return one day to hunt Jake. Just to prove he was stronger.

The threat of such a domain was great. The threat of the banished Fae lady who made her home there greater still. Her name was revealed as (TO BE ADDED) and she was known as a trickster and deceiver from the old folklore. Together the human and Jake entered her domain, through one of the sleeping stones but upon arrival they were seperated. Not knowing where (TO BE ADDED) had ended up Jake found himself trapped in what seemed to be an endless hallway of mirrors. And in these endless mirrors two twin fae warriors danced, mocking him. At first he assumed it was nothing until a blade danced past him, slicing open his arm.

Unfortunately for his assailants Jake's rage was their downfall. As they danced past, cutting, slicing and slowly inflicting pain the berserker emerged and resorted to smashing the mirrors, one by one, trapping them in their dance. When two mirrors remained, each warrior trapped alone he savagely shattered them, grinding the shards to dust beneath the iron shod boots, unknowingly condemning them both to oblivion. From there he followed the sound of a child's crying to discover the main chamber of this domain, sculpted from mirrored ice. Upon a throne sat the Fae Lady and at her feet, curled into a ball was (TO BE ADDED). To one side a young girl wept, trying not to look at either of the two 'adults'.
