African Warrior Glyph
A African warrior and a Earth Element wrapped into one body, Jakiro is a threat to all Villains that stand in his path. After surviving for 10 years in a dimension entirely inhabited by Warwolves, he is a master at the hunt. Manto Boesak was not always as Jakiro. When he was a child soldier in western Africa he was known as "Mista Cool". When he was a young scholar in Paragon city he was known as Richard Dawson. Whatever the name not much is certain about this mysterious warrior.

History

Early Years

((Jakiro is from a alternative dimension, that was relatively the same as todays earth, until 1996 when the Shadow Seed was activated))

Jakiro wasn't always known as "Jakiro", but he had always been a hero. Until his pact with the Element Jakiro, he had been known as Manto Boesak a name his African mother had picked. Growing up in the Sierra Leon jungle, the child of an American Missionary and a African Warrior Women, he was excluded from normal childhood activities due to his Caucasian heritage. He spent most of his time with his mother, as his father would not acknowledge that he was indeed the father of this half African child. His mother recognized Manto's strength even when he was just a child, and trained him as a warrior. Practicing for almost 8 hours everyday, Manto honed his skills until he could compete with boys twice his age. Manto lived a relatively peaceful life under the protection of his African mother. Living in a small village of 100 Manto saw little of the outside world, until one day a group of rebels from Liberia raided his village.

His mother was killed in the raid and his village was burnt to the ground. The rebels offered him a choice due to his appearance and his superior fighting abilities, fight for them as a soldier or die like his mother. He choose to join the rebels, but only long enough to get his revenge. The rebels trained him in the way of Guerrilla warfare, advanced tactics, and stealth. They also taught Manto how to kill, a lesson that would come in handy later in his life. Manto was almost successfully brainwashed as a child soldier, he wanted nothing more than to loot and destroy villages with his "boyz". After a couple raids Manto had been fully indoctrinated, he was a full blown child soldier. One day on a raiding mission, something went wrong. UN forces were situated in the Village where they intended to raid, and the rebel forces quickly retreated leaving Manto behind.

Manto was only 12 years old but he had seen things that not even a grizzled retired veteran could have dreamed of. Manto was taken in by the UN, to be reeducated. Many thought Manto would be scarred for life, and that him living a normal life would be impossible. He was resistant to their teachings at first, but eventually settled down and decided to learn what they had to teach. This is where he was taught his basic English and math skills by a volunteer teacher Charles Theron. He studied with Charles for a number of years learning at an accelerated rate. It was clear Manto was a child genius, and at the age of 15 Charles Theron had a plan to get him out of the country. Africa was no place for an aspiring prodigy. He had Manto's name changed to Richard Dawson and said that he was a young student from America on a family holiday who got lost. The poorly paid security at the African airport did not care enough to look into the matter further, and due to his Caucasian heritage it was a relatively easy lie to pass off. Manto now knows as Richard Dawson arived in the United States January 8th, 1990. Meeting Charles Theron's colleague and partner Professor Watros at the airport Manto was thrilled to be in the company of such a unusual man. From the thick white eye brows to the strange round glasses Professor Watros was certainly an oddity. Manto moved into the Professor's 50th story penthouse. Watros started giving Manto basic lessons, but Manto caught on so quick it was hardly worth the time. Professor Watros seeing the Genius of Manto that was described to him by his colleague at the UN, taught him the one skill set that he was lacking from his underfunded school house in east Africa. Watros taught him about technology, showing Manto how to reverse engineer a color television and a microwave oven. Soon Manto was a natural, and when the first PCs started to emerge the now 16 year old Manto was the first to master them, programing games and basic applications. Manto never went to public school, his time with the Professor was enough education he needed. Manto always had a lust to learn, and if he ever got an urge to know about a certain subject, he would scour the Professor's library and used book stored until he found what he was looking for.

Manto didn't leave behind his combat skills when he moved to Paragon City, he found a new use for them. Late at night without the Professor's knowledge he would skulk around Brickstown battling low level thugs, and try his best to thwart crime whenever he came across it. With his newly learned engineering skills he came up with many non-lethal ways to take down criminals. He developed arrows that let out a blinding flash on impact and glue tipped arrows that secured his foes to the ground, so the Police force could deal with them. He was well knowns to the police force and as he got older, his skills increased. He was now able to take down threats that a normal police officer would shudder at. He was studying with Professor Watros during the day, and rescuing helpless civilians at night. He soon came to the attention of other Heroes who admired his non-lethal tactics and to the villains that he thwarted at every turn. It wasn't until Manto turned 18 that he finally realized, that he was a Hero.

Manto continued fighting crime in the same non-lethal, casual way until the events of 1996 when the Nictus descended from the sky and the world went black.

Shattered Future

Jakiro posing after a victory over a Warwolf

Originating from Lamda Rho 57-20 (better known as Werewolf World, by the Portal Corp), an alternate universe where the 5th column succeeded in planting the Shadow Seed (a artifact that summons a army of Nictus). The world is now in Perpetual night, and most humans have been either killed or turned into Warwolves. The world is ruled by the Requiem of that dimension and his legions of Warwolves.

When the sky went dark and the Nictus started raining down from above, Manto knew what he had to do. He urged the Professor to stay inside, to make sure that he wasn't a casualtie to the initial chaos of the event. As the police, the military, and Heroes fell, Manto looked on in silence. He knew that if he fought now his death would be for nothing. It was a massacre. Distraught Manto started looking to the future, how would the survivors of Paragon survive? Manto was the one who came up with the idea of using Paragons vast sewer system as a refuge. Villains had always used the sewers as a hiding place, now it was the Heroes turn. Requiem had won within only two days of the war starting. Human survivors that were captured by the Warwolves were placed into camps where they were bread for Warwolf food. The conditions in these camps were dismal, humans were raised like animals, with no knowledge of language or of what had happened to their mighty empire. Manto's sewer idea quickly put him into a leadership position but the people of Paragon needed more. They needed a Hero.

First of all he knew he had to change his technique, non-lethal combat no longer would serve a purpose. He switched his Glue Arrows for Acid Arrows that burnt at his enemies flesh, and carried a sharpened machete that he wielded with only one hand, as his Mother taught him. He also began to recruit from the remaining survivors, picking the strongest out of them and teaching them the basics of combat. After being taught all his life Manto was finally on the other end of the stick. Manto found that being a teacher suited him better then being a student, and after only a month of training him and his group of 30 were ready. Him and his elite squad of warriors fought valiantly, using guerrilla tactics to undermine Requiem's rule. He fought non-stop for a century, but his effect on Requiems reign were sleight. He knew he would need more strength if he ever hoped to bring his world back to normal.

Seeking out Baron Zoria (a public figure, and a hero in this dimension), Jakiro told him what he needed and what he was willing to give up to achieve it. Baron Zoria a renowned expert in magical being contracts, realizing that this was the only way to stop Requiem, contacted a Earth Element and bargained with it until it agreed to share some of its power with Manto. For a cost. After a couple rituals and a rather painful "Merging of the blood" Manto was turned half Earth Elemental. His heart turned to stone and magma flows through his veins. Manto now fought with the strength of the hills, crushing all in his way. This is when Jakiro first adopted the name "Jakiro", naming himself after the Elemental known as Jakiro that gave Manto his abilities. He was a unstoppable force and every day he fought against Requiem's legion of Warwolves, he came closer to driving the Nictus back from his world. Requiem became aware of Jakiro's progress and set out to stop him. Requiem decided that if he wanted to stay in power, he was also going to need more power. Seeking council from the Nictus leadership he explained the problem to them, and proposed his solution. The Nictus who are normally hesitant when transforming a human, took the opportunity to change the most powerful man in this universe into one of them. With his new power he set out to defeat Jakiro.

Meanwhile

A group of Paragon Cities finest Heroes were exploring unknown dimensions, for the Portal Corp. What they found in Lamda Rho 57-20, chilled them to the bone. A world of Darkness controlled my 5th column and their Nictus servants. They decided that this world would be restricted and cut off from general use but as they were leaving they heard the sounds of fighting in the distance. They decided to investigate and what they saw will be remembered by them until this day. Jakiro's group of survivors were massacred, all killed by the same strange wound, Jakiro was reposed in the middle of the destruction, left for dead by Requiem. Remaining Warwolves were feasting on the remains of the dead, howling at the Night with hunger. The Heroes quickly dispatched the Warwolves and assessed the damages. Thirty-one dead, all with a strange black wound on their upper chest where they had been hit by some sort of a blast. Turning away from the slaughter, the Heroes made to leave again. As the heroes started to walked away from the ghastly scene they felt something tremor. It was sleight at first but overtime it got more frequent and harder. They soon realized that the quakes were coming from the area where Jakiro lay. Calling on the power of the Earth he had revived himself. After a long discussion with the heroes that had unwittingly saved his life, he had agreed to go back to their dimension with them. He was willing to go, but it still hurt him deeply to leave his people behind. To this day Jakiro hopes to re-visit Lamda Rho 57-20, and defeat Requiem once and for all.

((Jakiro is based off the story arc "A Path into Darkness" and an actual world that you may visit through portal corp: "Lamda Rho 57-20"))

Present

Jakiro hates Warwolves and anything with fur, that resembles a Warwolf (sorry cat girls). Due to such he joined the supergroup Seraphic, a group bent on the tracking and regulation of "Un-humans" or anamorphic humans. Recruited by Battlion, a member of the team that rescued him from Lamda Rho 57-20, he shows undying loyalty to Seraphic. Manto used to just be a carefree teen, but Requiem changed that. He is now a battle hardened warrior, that is as serious as stone.
