Early History

As a child, Jennifer Sanchez, like a good number of element-wielding mutants, was outwardly different. Her skin was blue, and her eyes seemed to cackle with electricity. Now, one would assume she would get picked on for this, however, she displayed an early penchant for her gift, and used it to impress and/or intimidate her fellow students. She grew arrogant, and often misbehaved and caused trouble. She eventually dismissed authority completely when she realized that her teachers had more to fear from her than she had to fear from them. She was 9 at the time, and almost literally ruled her school.

In an incident that is etched into the minds of many of Jen's classmates, she assaulted a teacher with her burgeoning powers. He survived the attack, though wished he hadn't after Jen, who'd been arrested, informed anyone who would listen of why she attacked him: An inappropriate comment he made about her body.

She was 11. Due to her age and the specifics of the matter, she was allowed to go home, but she was no longer allowed back in school.

Jen was soon back in jail however, on a much more serious charge: Assaulting her parents. When asked what they had done to deserve being electrocuted almost to death, Jen happily replied "I felt like it." She was 14 and considered a threat to society. A plastic cell with an electromagnetic dispersion field awaited the young girl for the rest of her life. However, it was then that a young mutant named FrostFire, who wanted to be a hero but was too disenchanted with how misunderstood mutants were treated by law enforcement and other heroes, ambushed the convoy taking Jen and other mutants to their "new home". Most of the mutants followed FrostFire, who promised to lead them to a better life... or vengeance, whichever they preferred. But Jen declined, not wanting to have anything to do with anyone who might even think of being an authority figure to her.

Over the next several years though, Jen found out just how hard it was to survive on one's own with little education and no support. When she tried to steal, other, more organized criminals tried to stop her or take a share of her wares. She tried mugging, but other muggers would go so far as to CALL FOR HEROES to stop her from getting what they felt was theirs. She couldn't even sell herself without pimps or prostitute gangs trying to either recruit or kill her.

Then the Ritki struck. Jen likes to believe that she survived by the skin of her teeth, but it was only the timely intervention of FrostFire's Outcasts that saved her from a collapsing building. Finally submitting to the idea that the world was too much for her to handle, she joined the gang of mutants. She noticed, however, that Frostfire's once semi-noble intentions had been twisted by paranoia and hate. Which on one hand caused her to be weary, but on the other hand, she liked going out and busting heads whenever FrostFire decided the neighborhood smelled too much like Troll. Jen got preferential treatment from FrostFire, mostly for her place in his bed... when someone else wasn't in it.

Having to share FrostFire's attention was bad enough, but when heroes kept coming after him and the Outcasts, Jen saw just how weak he really was. Battle after battle was lost. FrostFire kept getting arrested (And released, thanks to his slick attorney, Chris Jenkins). And then, when for the third time in ONE day, a small band of heroes came after him and he hardly put up a fight at all, Jen called it quits and surrendered to the heroes...

The Heroes of Paragon City

Those heroes, Balaka, Patty-Sue Ivanova, Pynx, and some Troll who was trying to join Longbow, took the mouthy young woman into custody. She was soon intrigued by Balaka's nonchalance, Patty's attitude, and Pynx's cheery disposition. After she told them her story, she was amazed that they didn't have much sympathy for her. A little, but not much. They tossed her into the Zig, but promised they would make sure she got a fair trial.

After said trial and some legal finagling, Jen got something of an opportunity. For turning state's evidence against the Outcasts, she was allowed to enroll for probation, assuming the following conditions were met: Someone would take her in and take responsibility for her, and that she perform 500 hours of community service. When she asked if catching criminals would count as community service, and the answer was yes, she accepted the deal. And she even had someone in mind who she could live with... much to Balaka's disdain.

Thankfully, JenericElectricChick, as she started calling herself, wasn't much of a handful, outside of harassing Patty and giving Balaka lip occasionally. So long as she was able to take out her violent urges on SOMEONE, ie, thugs and criminals and evil robots, she has remained mostly docile when at home. In fact, her overeagerness in combat is sometimes a benefit to the team, though once in a while she threatens to go too far when meting out justice. Of course, maybe it was the presence of the near-omnipotent alien, Elo, who didn't approve of her, which led to her restraint.

Personality

He doesn't need money, he's dead!

The term "cold, hard, bitch" describes Jen quite well. There is no sweet and sugary center, no inner turmoil, nothing. Well, maybe. Despite only being out for herself and enjoying inflicting pain on others, she's grown somewhat fond of her allies, if only because their occasional suffering amuses her. She'll insult, belittle, and chew out anyone for any reason if for some reason blasting them isn't an option. Yet despite always trying to make everyone feel small and angry, despite her past full of reckless abandon... she is fiercely protective of those she considers her friends.

Some would think Jen cannot be trusted. To be honest, despite her past and somewhat vile demeanor, she's learned that if she watches other people's backs, they'll watch hers. And that benefits her. Recently, she's also become big on returning favors (if only because then people are more willing to grant her favors) . The lump sum of this translating into such: She will not backstab her allies, or run away from a fight. It's not her style. It's almost like she's developed a twisted sense of honor. Which is better than nothing, one would rightly surmise.

Jen also has a demented sense of humor. She loves telling crude jokes, making fun of... well, anyone, and being as disrespectful and as insulting as possible. However, if one encounters her and becomes the subject of her verbal barbs, they should remember one thing: It just means she likes that person... the poor soul.

Powers

Jen can channel and manipulate electricity in a variety of ways. She's still learning her powers, never having given much thought to learning to do anything other than give people shocks. She's taken some hints from other Outcasts and can summon a field of lightning at her feet and has had some success at flying, but that' about it, so far. Thankfully.

Even though Jen seems to be a hero who is devoted to her friends, those close to her await with trepidation what happens when her 500 hours of community service are up.
