Physical Description

Beatrice is a strikingly attractive woman in her early 30s. Her skin is smooth and without blemish or scar, and her frame is well-toned and fit. She is a common sight among those that follow the super-powered of Paragon City, as her work modelling for Icon has placed her face in many advertisements and catalogues.

Slightly more risqué photo shoots have proven the bunny ears and tail to be natural, not costume parts. Her eye-patch has been shown slightly out-of-place in leaked candid shots, revealing that she is, in fact, missing an eye.

Biography

Beatrice grew up knowing she was pretty. Her parents would tell her every day what a pretty girl she was. Once she got to school, she was surrounded by friends who were always telling her how pretty she was, or how much they wished they had her hair, or her eyes, or her hands, or some other feature. As she approached maturity, she started to learn that being pretty could get you more than just admiration; boys would be glad to do your homework for you - and even let you cheat on tests! - if you'd just spend time around them under the pretence of "studying". Beatrice breezed through school on no merit of her own.

Starlet

Having grown up around Hollywood, Beatrice naturally knew where pretty girls went to get discovered. After high school, against her parents' wishes, she left home and set out to make her way in the film business. The first few months went well; she was cast in a few commercials, got some modelling work on the side, and seemed on her way. But Hollywood is full of young, pretty blonde girls looking to make a name for themselves, and as time went by it became harder and harder to find legitimate work. A year later, she was living on the street, scrounging and begging for food. Living on the streets of Hollywood is not a pretty life; after a few months, Beatrice took a job at a "gentleman's club" just to get off the streets.

The work wasn't too bad, and the clientèle was mostly polite. Beatrice stuck with the job for some time, managing to somewhat rebuild her life; things started to be almost normal, if she could just forget what it was she did for a living. After a few months, she started dating one of the club's regulars; he seemed a nice guy, always tipped well, treated her like a person and not just another "entertainer" working out of the club. He was a college student by the name of Richard, just finishing his graduate degree. Within a year, Beatrice had moved in with Richard. With the promise of a better life to come, Beatrice continued working at the club, funding Richard's post-graduate career.

Several years later, Richard had finally finished his doctorate and started to look for work in the real world. Beatrice quit working at the club; Richard was supposed to be able to support her now, but the needs for theoretical physicists at the time were slim. For a full year, the couple lived on a strained budget and even more strained nerves as Richard grew more and more frustrated with his situation, and Beatrice more and more unhappy with her life. She'd been promised wealth and luxury, and had neither.

Idle Idol

It was not until the aftermath of the Rikti War that Richard finally found work. Rebuilding from the destruction, Crey Industries had several openings in Paragon City. Finally able to fulfil his promise, Richard and Beatrice moved to Paragon City on Crey's dime and the couple started their new life - Richard finally able to develop several of his pet theories, and Beatrice finally enjoying the life of luxury and ease she always felt she deserved.

For the first few months, Beatrice was satisfied with idleness; she'd paid her dues and was now reaping the rewards for her sacrifices. But idleness can only amuse for so long - Beatrice soon grew bored with being a housewife. She started looking for more ways to spend her time: first it was volunteering with the neighbourhood association, then political candidates, then charities and churches. As she grew more and more involved with the non-profit world, so grew her awareness of the ills and follies of the world. She started advocating for causes, picking pet projects to nurture and drive, and got into a lot of arguments with Richard over his work and the work of Crey in general. When a group organised by Beatrice picketed the lab Richard worked at, he finally snapped.

Richard had never wanted a wife or a partner in his life. He wanted a pretty girl he could use. After leeching off Beatrice for years, Richard had thought he'd found a girl that would just passively take whatever he would give her. She had a nice apartment, money to spend, and no need to work. Why couldn't this girl just be happy with what she had?! But Richard had a solution: his work with Crey was in the field of genetic manipulation and mind control. Beatrice was once the girl of his dreams, but no longer. Thanks to his work with Crey, Richard could make her so once again.

After a particularly heated fight between them, Richard decided it was finally time to remake Beatrice. Under the pretence of apology, Richard invited Beatrice to his laboratory "to see his work first hand". Once there, he locked her in the test chamber and started his experiment. All the tests had gone perfectly: a small stable of perfectly docile and obedient wolves, snakes, and monkeys were testament to that. But Beatrice was the first human to be tested on, and something went wrong. Beatrice changed, but she didn't become the "submissive Playboy bunny" Richard thought he was creating.

Beatrice tore the door off the test chamber and trashed Richard's lab in the process of hunting him down. Her wrath was obvious, and thanks to Richard's failed experiment, she had the strength to make it felt. She left Richard alive, but cowering, and his entire lab was in shambles. When Richard got home the next evening, after being released from his contract with Crey for misuse of company property, he found the apartment neat, and largely bare. Everything Beatrice had bought was gone, as was Beatrice.

Paragon

Blessed with new-found superpower, Beatrice moved to a new apartment in Steel Canyon and registered herself with the city as an official hero. She finally had a way to directly address the issues plaguing the city, rather than having to lobby for others to do it. With less gangs on the street, the city would become much safer. Street-sweeping was easy at first. None of the street punks would take the blue-clad bunny girl seriously, which left ample opportunity to hoist one up and bowl over his friends with his body. After a while, however, it got tougher. Lapin Lazuli started to get a reputation among the Skulls and Hellions, and resistance to the blue-clad bunny girl became stiffer. No longer were fights over in seconds as men scattered from a surprisingly strong woman. Instead, knives, bullets and super-powers came into play as she was treated like any other super-powered enforcer of the streets.

Beatrice always figured her super-strength was coupled with a nigh-invulnerability, as was the case with many of Paragon's other super-strong heroes like Statesman and Ascendant. She never seemed to have any wounds or nicks from her fights when she got home, despite damage to her early costumes. It seemed a logical extension of her abilities; but she was wrong, and her overconfidence in her invulnerability soon cost her dearly.

During a fight with some Hellions, Beatrice found herself surrounded. Instead of trying to defend herself, she relied on her "invulnerability" to stave off attacks while she evened the odds. She saw the Hellion with the knife coming at her and decided to ignore him, instead chucking a trash can at the one with the gun. The blade stabbed down, and after a flash of intense pain, she found herself suddenly blind on the left side. A fit of rage put the Hellions down until the PPD could pick them up, but the damage had been done. Beatrice was not invulnerable, just supremely tough and quick to recover from injury. Some injuries would not heal, however. Her face sealed without scar, but the eye never grew back.

Beatrice took a break from active heroing while growing accustomed to her new field of vision. Instead of doing good by taking gangs off the street, she instead turned her attention towards the root of the gang problem: the poor and homeless of Paragon City. Beatrice became a common sight in shelters and soup kitchens around the city, devoting her time (and, when asked, her super-powers) to bettering the life of the miserable.

It was at one of these shelters that Beatrice first met Serge.

Icon

Serge has been looking for models for some of his more daring designs, but the number of super-heroines willing to forego the protection provided by Icon's unique fabrics to their vital organs was small indeed. Since Beatrice was not actively patrolling the streets, she was perfect for the job. Her striking looks were simply a bonus for the eccentric designer.

Working as a fashion model wasn't quite the Hollywood lifestyle she had grown up dreaming of, it was pretty close. Being the centrepiece of Serge's new line afforded her great celebrity and had her face plastered over numerous trade magazines. Beatrice's star was finally starting to rise, and her self-confidence grew. Between her good works in the city, her growing status as a hero, and the fame heaped upon her thanks to her work with Serge, Beatrice finally felt worthy of the ample praise she'd earned in her youth.

A couple seasons of modelling with Serge later, Lapin Lazuli was back on the streets aiding the heroes of Paragon City against the many plagues that troubled the streets. Confident and sure now of her abilities - as well as her limitations - she dives into the forefront of most tussles, drawing attention to herself and letting her quick-healing body take the brunt of the assault. Since her new physiology healed wounds without scar, this didn't even jeopardise her career.

The latest season at Icon has seen her working with Carson in Founder's Falls to launch her own line of fashions - all in blue, of course.

Powers

Super-Strength

The failed experiment performed by Richard left Beatrice changed on a cellular level. Every cell of her being was suffused with power, making each individual cell effectively super-strong.

The most obvious effect of this was a tremendous increase in physical strength, both in the upper and lower body. Beatrice is able to lift several tons of weight, deliver bone-shattered blows with her fists, and shake the very ground with a stomp of her foot. The increased strength of her leg muscles is even enough to propel her through the air with extraordinary ease and speeds matching even freeway traffic. The super-strength also makes her body much more impervious to harm than that of ordinary people, allowing her to shrug off dangers that would wound, maim or even kill a normal woman.

Cellular Regeneration

A side-effect of her cellular super-strength is evident in her immune system, as each cell that protects and repairs her body operates with super-natural efficiency and effectiveness. Her skin heals without needing to grow scar tissue over wounds, her bones knit themselves at impossibly fast rates, and her metabolism works in overdrive to purge her body of toxins and impurities. The net result of these effects is a remarkable healing factor and a nearly bottomless reserve of stamina to call upon in times of need.

It also has the pleasant effect of allowing her to eat whatever she wants without gaining a pound and has pushed her alcohol tolerance to an impossibly high plateau, which makes her the envy of virtually every woman in Paragon City.

Heightened Senses

Beatrice's sensory organs also operate under the guise of "super-strength", granting her remarkably sharp vision for a woman with one eye, as well as super-human hearing, taste, smell and even touch. These talents are largely un-honed, but they do allow her to sense danger and avoid blows otherwise undetectable.
