Origin
Jason Silverson grew up in the Kings Row area as an orphan. His parents were Longbow leaders that were personally killed by Lord Recluse. Jason was a very athletic child and was always testing himself. He was also very rebellious and challenged everything the orphanage owners said. One day when they got in a huge fight, Jason ran out of the orphanage to blow off some steam. As he ran through the alleys looking for a trash can to beat up, he came upon two Hellions mugging an old lady. Without thinking, he ran towards the Hellions and punched one in the face. It was a quick fight as he was only thirteen years old, but before they could finish him off, a hero jumped on top of one and brought him to the ground. The hero then pulled out two swords and started fighting the other one. After saving the lady and Jason, the hero ran off. His ego hurt, Jason felt a certain hatred for that hero and swore he would get him back. On his way back to the orphanage he ran into the same Hellions and they convinced him to come back with them to a Hellion base where there was only a small number of Hellions. When they got there, they talked him into joining and ran him through some tests. Jason was so excited once he joined, he finally felt he belonged somewhere. He started out with a group of newer Hellions and they all did basic stuff, mugging, jumping, and beating people up. But before they were promoted, Jason, who was very ambitious, dragged the newer Hellions along to help him break into a car. The break in was successful and once the Hellion leader got word of it, the whole group was promoted. Jason felt he was doing something wrong and he was never that into fire and arson but they liked him and he felt good, so he stayed. Jason was flying through the ranks. At only seventeen years old he was already a Blood Brother Slugger. But someone important had become a part of his life. Jack Wyeg was in the same group that Jason was in that broke into the car. Ever since then he and Jack and been best friends. Jack and Jason were to lead a important mission, they were going to steal one of the most flammable acids in the world, but it was illegal. Someone had tipped off the authorities and when they were mid way in getting the acid in the containers, the same hero who saved Jason showed up with some PPD. Jason and the hero were fighting on the catwalk when Jason jumped to dodge a blade and his foot slipped and he fell into a radioactive acid. Jack and the others left him to die. His eyes were shooting out green lasers when he finally got out so he walked back to the base blind. When he got to the base they gave him some sunglasses to cover the lasers, and they worked. They forced him to run the tests again to make sure he was still capable. Not only was he capable, he did better than before. He had just turned 18, and was leading bank robberies. But again, someone tipped off the authorities and the same hero showed up. Jack and Jason ended up getting sent to the Zig for two years. A couple weeks before his 19th birthday, Arachnos broke him and Jack out of the prison. They offered to put them in the Bounty Hunter branch, an unknown branch of Arachnos that hires people to kill important figures but only for as long as their contract says. They both accepted and Jason and Jack were placed at #5 and #2 on the charts respectively. After one year of doing that. Jason found out how his parents died and decided to betray Arachnos. He spent months planning and finally the opportunity arose. The team was headed to Paragon City to kill the Mayor, it was the perfect time for him to escape. Once they had landed in a hidden spot in Atlas Park, Jason stepped outside while the others got ready. He placed bombs all over the helicopter and then ran as fast as he could. He found a nice little apartment where he could rethink his life. After a while he decided to become a hero, he could learn more about his powers and dedicate his life to stopping Arachnos from ruining any more lives. He redesigned his costume a little and went to register. On his 21st birthday, Jason Silverson become the Hero known as Laser-Beam.
Secret Identity
Jason has been interested in music since he was seven. Of course being a Hellion slowed that down, but he still played guitar and listened to music. When he reached Paragon, he joined a new band called Paragon Transit Authority or sometimes just Paragon. They had a lot of material and he had brought in his own songs, they had enough songs for two albums and so they started recording immediately. They would only play local shows because Jason didn't want to be too far away from Paragon. They released the two albums one month apart and both of them got to #5 on the charts. Jason is known for throwing wild parties in his building in Steel Canyon. He owns every bit of it and lives in it all. Critics have compared him to Jim Morrison and Keith Moon. He loves to have a good time and even though he seems selfish, he always ends up saving some ones life later on.
Powers
Radiation Blast
When Jason fell in the acid, the main point it hit was his eyes due to the fact he fell face first. Later, the radiation would spread throughout his body giving him the ability to fire the radiation out of his body and hitting the target. He can even make it fire in all directions hitting multiple targets and affecting the target over time. Over time, he could shape the radiation into a sphere and found it did more damage to the target. The radiation can also cause the targets to go flying backwards if Jason keeps the radiation energy in his hands instead of firing it.
Energy Manipulation
Using the same idea as knocking back the target, Jason decided to see what would happen if he kept the radiation's power in his hands. The result was his punches strength and speed being increased and also being able to knock the target over and even stun the target. Since doing these attacks use up quite a bit of his endurance he only uses these if the enemy has gotten too close for comfort or if he needs to stun a target.
Flying
Not even Jason is sure how he can fly. Somehow he channels his radiation to boost him into the air and propel himself forwards. The most popular solution is that the ground acts as a positive magnet and the radiation acts as a positive magnet if he uses the right amount of radiation.
Strength
The radiation as given Jason an increase in his speed and strength. The radiation somehow affected his muscles and enlarged them and given him high stamina.
Equipment & Costumes
Laser currently has three different costumes. They all feature vision enhancing visors, anti-stain suit, anti-tear cape, bullet proof suit, night vision visors, extra strong gloves (for better punches and less hurt on the fist) and, special boots (his feet are well supported and won't get hurt from highest test point: 40ft) There have been rumors about an upcoming "Lasermobile."
Weaknesses & Limitations
Jason has admitted to having a weakness for women and alcohol. He also has a weak spot for "misunderstood" teens because he can relate to them. He once had a weak spot for money but now hides it and tries to end it. His limitations are usually based around the lack of energy and endurance. Even though he has high stamina he still feels tired after a battle and usually has to rest after a large fight.
Hyperion Force
After a month of being a hero, Laser felt alone and clueless. He went to City Hall and looked at the top 100 Super-Groups. After reading a brief description about Hyperion Force and reading a few of the members (two before he started jumping up and down crying with joy) he contacted them and was soon made a member. He became an associate on 1/27/10. Ever since then he's felt happy and no long clueless... minus all the confusing things that go on with Hyperion Force
