Before the powers
Before Mia ever got her powers she was loved and given pretty much everything she ever wanted. Her parents often took her to the zoo to view the animals that Mia found so fascinating. Her mother was a lawyer, working as a criminal defense. While her father was a Neurologist at the local hospital, money was never an issue in her life. Her parents rarely had to punish her due to bad behavior; Mia was the definition of an “angel child”. By the time she was five years old Mia was a proud big sister, her parents had brought in a bouncing baby boy. Life was great, it wasn’t until Mia had been accepted in to an academy that she began to have issues in school, by her first grade year Mia had to be held back due to lack of understanding of the material. This made problems for her with her peers, they often openly mocked her because of her supposed stupidity. No one knew the real reason Mia was having issues; deep down something was beginning to develop which left her tired and made it difficult to focus in class. Her parents, thinking it was just a stage, pushed Mia in to performing in school musicals. This left her far more drained them before due to the long hours of practice. It wasn’t long until Mia was starting to fail her first grade year again. The school headmaster warned her parents that if she failed again she would be removed from the academy. In desperation her parents hired only the best and brightest tutors, they eventually helped enough. At the age of 8 she was finally entering the second grade, sadly it would not last long. On the first day of school, her powers manifested during a physical fight between her and one of the older students…
After powers
The fight was little more than a blur to Mia, the girl hit hard and fast mainly aiming for her face. She didn’t know why this girl was attacking her she just knew that it hurt. It made her angry. And she knew she needed to hit harder if she was to have a chance to get away. One hit was all it took. One hit Mia didn’t know she had thrown to knock the girl in to a wall 6 feet away with three broken ribs. Mia’s powers of energy manipulation had become known. The headmaster contacted Mia’s parents immediately and informed them that their daughter was a mutant. Not wanting a freak, they gave her to foster care. For the next year Mia bounced from foster home to foster home until she was finally shipped to paragon city for their foster system to deal with. She has learned to never unpack her things, knowing that in little more than two months she would be moved to a new foster home for various reasons. It wasn’t long before she just didn’t care about her grades anymore. The only thing she wanted was a family that would keep her and love her, but that was a thing of the past. Her powers made people edgy around her, never sure when she was going to have a control issue and accidently hurt them. She is slowly losing hope, beginning to not care what happens. She has even taken up the name Lil Energy, working as a unlicensed hero (due to age).
