Origin

Locke's life was forever changed when he found the strange meteorite in the woods near his home. Believing that it was a strange geode, he took it home and set it on top of his computer tower. It was nearly a week later when Locke began receiving strange chat messages while using his computer. He enjoyed the conversation, though, and never put much thought into where their origin. He soon learned that the meteorite was the cause of the messages.

The geode confided in Locke that it was, itself, a computer possessing an incredibly strong artificial intelligence. It had been created by a highly advanced race and was considered the key to victory over their enemies. Amused by this, Locke began calling the computer Keye.

After learning about the limits of earth technology, Keye became aware of the threat his creators posed to the earth if they were to locate him, after all, the Ritki invasion had been devastating. He devised a way to shield his unique energy signature from outside scans, but the energy required was enormous. A lightning storm would be the easiest way of obtaining such power. The two worked together to build the device Keye designed and waited for the next storm. Their plan would have worked if not for faulty wiring.

The result was an overload of the device and Locke's computer. Locke himself was horribly injured by the lightning and the resulting explosion of equipment. It was chance that Keye, charged with energy, had landed on Locke. Unable to physically help the boy who had become his friend, Keye used the energy to merge with him. Keye then used his knowledge of materials and biology to begin healing the damage that had been done. The result was the new hero, Locke and Keye.

Affiliations

Locke and Keye is a member of the Black Book and is seen as the groups "poster-boy."

Personality

Locke is an extremely friendly and open person. He is also extremely self-sacrificing. He always tries to be the first into combat, and he will always attempt to help a friend in need.

He truly believes in a world where heroes are absolute, and he strives for it everyday.

Powers and Weaknesses

Keye is able to manipulate Locke's physiology to cause bursts of strength, speed, and invulnerability. He is also able to focus the energy put off by Locke's cells into devastating attacks. With the proper materials at hand, Keye can repair Locke's body from anything but brain death.

The side effects of Keye merging with Locke are visibly apparent by the strange scars that cover his body. Keye, though quite adept at making the repairs, finds it difficult to work organic material as fast as he would like. Locke's scars are actually inorganic repairs.

Also, in order to help protect Locke from the horrors they face, Keye maintains a high level of endorphin release in Locke's brain. This has resulted in Locke developing a mild case of ADD. Fortunately, there is no shortage of things to do in Paragon City.
