Background

A father's technology turns his daughter's disability into a superability

Altair's only true power lies within the nanometer computer chip fused into her cerebrum at the expense of sexual arousal. At birth, Altair's brain was abnormally slow in regulating consciousness, attention, and information processing. Her father used his superb knowledge of cybernetics to design a super-small computer that would work closely with the reticular activating system in the brain stem, the autonomic nervous system and the endocrine system, in controlling Altair's arousal. This not only solved the problem of Altair's disability but gave her the ability to surpass the human level of sensory activity. Basically, her father boosted her brain capabilities from abnormally slow to superfast, meaning Altair can willingly move and think at thrice the human speed (30m/s at maximum sprint, the same speed as a Cheetah). This scientific accomplishment remains secret from the scientific world in order to protect Altair. Speaking of secrets, Altair has always assumed that her abnormally low sex drive was due to her natural mental disability, which in someways is true, but her father purposely programmed her computer chip to suppress sexual arousal completely, successfully maintaining and monitoring his daughters virginity.

Cyber Telepathy

At the age of sixteen, Altair agreed to have her computer chip upgraded with state-of-the-art nanotechnology so she could communicate remotely with computers and other computer-powered equipment, at will. At the time, she thought it'd be 'cool' and on a few occasions, she exploited this power and influenced cash dispensers to her advantage. That's when she learnt that her father had access to her visual memory.

Jet Propellers

Codename's bodygear is completed by a set of jet-propelled inline rollerblades and a backpack modified by Daniel Stevens. The jets are tiny and designed not to capsize at sudden burst. Altair's own inhuman equilibrium allows her to boost without falling over. The jet-propelled skates are capable of accelerating to 90 miles per second, rivaling the speed of the world's fastest diving bird; the Peregrine falcon, or a high-speed train. The camouflaged backpack holding her equipment is also jet-propelled to allow enhanced jump in those situations where a high wall becomes the greatest adversary.

Battlesuit CB-3

The battlesuit CB-3 is an improved lightweight nanotechnological armour and stealth unit with built-in speed-booster jet for enhanced leaping, hovering and sprinting. Its made with cryo-steel capable of withstanding continuous machine gun fire, grenades and mine explosions. It also cools down body temperatures when subjected to fire damage or built-up friction at high speeds. The small jet-propellers are capable of burst speeds up to 100 miles per second. The helmet piece folds away backwards to allow freedom of movement but when worn, it offers limited protection from EM pulses to Altair's key vulnerability; her cerebral chip. The designer, Daniel Stevens is currently working on more machines for his adventurous little sister.

Superabilities

Altair's scientifically boosted sensory system allows her a unique advantage in the field as well as everyday life. She can sense disaster just seconds before it strikes, effectively allowing her time to dodge incoming attacks. This enhanced speed and reflex allows her to evade most ranged blasts and melee attacks below the speed of 30m/s. Altair's body is used to withstanding the pressures of high-speed reflex. Her muscles are supple and ultra-flexible. Other abilities include extra-fluid movement and motion; giving her en edge in (cheerleading) gymnastics and extreme sports.

Vulnerabilities

Altair's superhuman speed, reflex, and cyber-telepathy is due to the nano-computer fused into her brain, so the vulnerability here is quite obvious. When subjected to extreme voltage or an electro-magnetic pulse, Altair's computer activates a fail-safe mode, triggering an emergency teleport to base before automatically shutting down. Too much voltage could override the fail-safe, fry the computer chip and destroy her cerebrum, rendering the brain of activity; an instant death. Despite this danger, Altair continues to risk her safety for the greater good. This alone makes her a real hero, but Sabrina reckons she's just plain suicidal. Its noted that Altair favours missions concerning rampaging robots or inhuman creatures allowing her full and legitimate use of lethal force. When engaged in combat with human hostiles such as thugs, cults and terrorists, Altair reluctantly uses minimal force; flames designed to singe the skin, shock explosives, freeze-ray firearms and armour-piercing live ammunition carefully targeted to maim or stun.

Her father greatly disapproves of her fighting robots and other electrical enemies but Altair does so anyway; secretly, she thrives on the dangers involved and the risk of death, but mainly, robots are pretty much the only targets upon which she can exert maximum force. Typically, Altair's greatest weakness is her emotions. Her deepest desire is a world free of suffering and hate. Deep inside, she loves everything in existence and appreciates its beauty whether it be made by man or God. Wars and conflicts are fun at first, but the deaths and destruction is extremely saddening. She fights in line with an understanding that sometimes, lethal force is the only answer. However, before engaging combat, she makes a point of offering a peaceful resolution. Truth be told, Altair would rather use her skills to further human scientific and physical advancement rather than for war and fighting. She enjoys the adrenaline rush from extreme sports and cheerleading gymnastics enough not to miss her weapon suits. Other vulnerabilities include the fact that she's only human; however skilled she is in defense tactics, she's very much prone to injury.

Trivia

When she's not cheerleading or cleaning the streets, Altair makes time for inline-blading, skateboarding, snowboarding, and BMX racing. Other extreme hobbies include skydiving, scuba diving, surfing, rock climbing, mountaineering, storm chasing, hang gliding, and even bungee jumping. Altair's a big fan of Christian Rock and almost always as her iPod feed music directly to her ears. Her favourite artist is Demon Hunter; her favourite album is the Triptych and her favourite track is Undying. Fashion-wise, she wears black almost 24/7 (she even has a black version of her battle suit) with baggy trousers and loose t-shirts.
