Francis Talmasca was originally a student in Paragon University who had a fascination with the heroes of the city she called home. Even going so far as to be a fan some of the heroes the city sported. Wanting to get closer to these heroes with out disturbing their work, she decided to take an intern job at S.E.R.A.P.H. where she knew many heroes came and went. Her job was going well for several months, being the 'gofer' for the scientists that worked in the labs. Fetching what was needed, being taught how to handle the equipment when carrying it so she didn't break anything, ect.

As careful as she was though, one fact remained that Francis had always been a slight klutz in her life and sometimes didn't pay attention to her surroundings. So one day, on a simple coffee run she made for some guys in the lab, she tripped over a rise in one of the rugs they kept in the lab and went barreling into a large glass vat of experimental chemicals. During this moment of panic, everyone gave a sigh of relief when they saw that Francis' body crashing into the vat didn't break it, only to suddenly panic again when they realized her body weight was still enough to topple the vat over, causing it to smash open anyway, the resulting crash causing Francis to get doused in the chemical that was contained within the vat.

It was only a matter of seconds for the chemicals to become absorbed into Francis' body causing her to suddenly grow and undergo a minor transformation. Francis of course didn't notice this as she was too busy panicking about the fact that she was just doused in an experimental chemical compound that the scientists hadn't even named yet. When the scientists tried to assist the panicking girl to a chair to calm her down, they were suddenly met with a blast of electricity striking them against the near by walls. With the situation suddenly reaching an escalation, one of the scientists quickly ran to the labs emergency hot line to contact a HAZMAT team and any assistance from the cities heroes as well to contain the situation.

In a matter of minutes, a HAZMAT team in the company of Synapse a couple other less famed heroes in the city appeared to handle the situation, eventually managing to subdue the panicked girl and get her to a hospital. It was here that the doctors realized that the chemicals Francis was exposed to had bonded themselves to her DNA, causing her bones and muscles to grow larger and denser, as well as cause mutations in her body that enabled her to generate powerful electrical fields effectively granting her what was deemed off the record as "Electrokinesis". After over coming a few minutes of shock at the fact the chemicals didn't kill her, Francis began to work on figuring out how to control her newly gained abilities so she wouldn't accidentally hurt anyone. When she was finally able to figure out how to keep her powers in check, and generate minor fields around key points of her body she decided to register herself as a hero of the city, knowing that her powers were something she shouldn't put to waste (plus she'd always wanted to be a super hero herself).

When deciding on a costume and name for herself, the only thought that came to her mind was one of her more favored heroes she was a fan of, Statesman, and knowing what his presence was supposed to represent. So, deciding to follow his example, she took up a mantle that she hoped would invoke similar feelings in people that saw her. It was at that point, Union Girl was born, and for a fair amount of time as she learned how to better use her powers in her new career choice, she managed to gain a small amount of prestige in Paragon City. Though eventually it was realized that she was far from being a girl as pointed out by the strange magician Rinaldo, though she technically was an 'old girl' being in her early 20's. So, after some brief consideration, officially had her moniker changed to Miss Union instead.

Personality

Miss Union is a fairly up beat individual with a 'never say die' attitude toward the world, though at times a little sarcastic in some situations as well. Enjoying interacting with others be they hero, villain, or civilian as long as they don't do anything to try and provoke her.

Public Opinion

This section is reserved for anyone to leave opinions, comments, reactions, or rumors about Miss Union.

"A very charming woman who is, by all accounts, a splendid superhero in her own right. I expect good things from this one! She carries a little too much tension in her back, though." -Charlatan

Trivia

Miss Union originally possessed a costume that was made using Impervium fibers. Her recent mastery over her powers how ever, have lead her to conclude that the Impervium protecting her body wasn't necessary, and she settled for a more comfortable (and economic), light weight leather that was detailed with metal arm guards to help her better conduct and maintain her electrical fields.
