Affiliations

Mister Virtue is a member of the Justiciars. He highly respects and values his teammates, and encourages the many heroes he works with to use their status and celebrity to make a difference in the world by doing more than just fighting crime.

Colin is also a spokesman for many charities, the most high profile and successful one being the Global Goodwill Foundation.

Personality

Colin is friendly, outgoing, and always happy to lend a helping hand to whoever needs it. Being virtuous is very important to him, and as such, he tries to always be extremely polite, courteous, and considerate. He carefully watches his language and tries to avoid offending anyone, and tries to always do the "Right" thing. In short, he exemplifies the typical Boy Scout persona.

He has a good sense of humor and easily fits in with any group, but he also takes his self-appointed job of setting a good example for humanity very seriously, and is quite humorless about anything that might damage the public's trust in himself or any hero. This desire to be trusted inspired him to be public with his identity, not hiding the fact that he is Colin Vash. He believes that people will be better able to look up to him and trust him if he doesn't hide who he is.

Extremely driven, Colin believes that it is his responsibility to stop his future from coming to pass, and becomes extremely agitated when he believes he may have hurt his ability to do this. To him, every time he fails to help someone, he is failing not only them, or himself, but the entire world, and everything it might become.

He is extremely passionate about charity and social work, considering crimefighting a much lesser means of doing good in the world. Fighting villains is seen by him as a necessary evil, both because there are some enemies that law enforcement cannot handle, and because it allows him to be percieved as a hero so that his message for positive change in the world will be taken more seriously. He dearly wishes he could spend less time fighting and more time helping out with other good causes.

Relationships

Mister Virtue loves his adopted family, the Eddings, very dearly. He is constantly worried that his public identity puts them at risk. He has them under constant guard by various law enforcement and bodyguard agencies, as well has his fellow Justiciars. Whenever possible, he stops in to check on them personally. Colin and his sister Samantha are especially close, and Samantha is very proud of her big brother's efforts to make a difference.

His closest friend is the alien from Saturn known as Mi-ik Mh'kaels, or the Saturnian Psychic, who has aided Colin on many occasions and saved his life more than once. Tim Tyson, or Professor Proton, is also a dear friend who has used his scientific knowledge to help Colin try to understand why he lost his powers for a time after being sent back. Due to Mi-ik's ability to sense the best in humanity through his mental link with them, and the Professor's efforts to eradicate disease and improve the world, Colin has a close kinship with both heroes, feeling that they truly understand his mission.

Colin also enjoys the company of Liberty Rose, who reminds him of his younger sister Samantha. He has taken an interest in Champion Girl's development as a hero, seeing great potential in the young girl. Virgil Viceroy and Richter Scale are among the other Justiciars who Colin counts among his trusted friends, though he likes and respects all his teammates.

Mister Virtue tries to avoid romantic relationships due to the fact that, between crimefighting and charity work, his mission takes up all his time. His attentions would never be able to be devoted to the relationship, which would be unfair to any significant other he might have, he believes. Any sort of flirtation or interest shown by anyone in him, he attempts to politely deflect. Thus, whether or not he has even slight feelings towards anyone is unknown.

Powers

Colin has an extremely dense and strong musculature, which allows him to perform astounding feats of superhuman strength as well as take enormous punishment without flinching. He is also capable of self propelled flight at close to the speed of sound.

Recently, his close friend and fellow Justiciar Mi-ik Mh'kaels, the Saturnian Psychic, has discovered that Colin's mind possesses a telekinetic center. This evolved portion of Colin's mind allows him to focus his mental strength on his own muscles and tissues to increase his strength and durability further than ever--at one notable point, he was able to hold more than 400 tons for a time. The ability has been dubbed "Tissue Based Telekinesis" by Mi-ik, as Colin is unable to use it on anything but his own body. The Saturnian also believes that this telekinetic center is what has allowed Colin to fly all this time.

Due to the evolutions mankind has undergone by his time, Colin is immune to almost every disease and illness that exists in the modern age. He also needs far less food, drink, and sleep than the average person, functioning fully on one meal a week and about a half hour of sleep every few days. Additionally, it takes extreme heat or cold to make him feel even uncomfortable, and even higher degrees to do him any harm--he can comfortably survive in any existing climate on Earth.

Abilities

Mister Virtue is a skilled combatant, having spent the first 13 years of his life in a distant future fighting many superhuman foes.

He is also an extremely charismatic negotiatior, and has been known to occasionally talk villains down rather than resorting to violence.

Weaknesses and Limitations

Colin lost his powers for 22 years after coming back in time, and it is theorized that another concentrated burst of chronal energy could cause them to abandon him once more.

He is not yet experienced at using his telekinetic abilities, and if he does not keep them under careful control, they have been known to 'eclipse' his brain activity, effectively shutting off all other centers of his brain and sending him into a coma that only the Saturnian Psychic has proven able to awaken him from.

Though his body can take almost any kind of punishment imaginable and keep going, his mind is much less durable. Though no less resistant than an average person, Colin's mind has no particular defense against psionic attacks, and they are able to put him out of commission much easier than actual force.

Character History

Colin Vash was born in a distant future, where the vices of mankind have led the world to ruin. Greed, paranoia, and selfishness have led countries to war time and time again, leaving nothing but ruined wastelands. People found themselves less and less concerned with fixing the world's problems and advancing the human race and more with their own personal survival and gain, until, in Colin's time, humanity lives in scattered "tribes", constantly at war with one another, nearly all advancements and technologies of human history forgotten.

In this time, humanity has evolved greatly to survive in their troubled world. Incredible resistance to disease, illnesses, and toxins, as well as greatly decreased need for food, drink, and sleep are common. But more notably, a large number of men and women are born with incredible natural powers and abilities. Colin was one such man.

Born and raised in a hidden bunker in what was once the United States, Colin was taught the moral values of long dead civilizations. His parents were two of the few learned men and women left on the planet, and they raised him with a firm sense of right and wrong. In the bunker where Colin lived for his first thirteen years, his parents and their friends sought to research ancient technologies, to find ways to fix what the world had become. Meanwhile, Colin used his incredible powers to try to help in the world outside the bunker, keeping the peace between various scattered factions as best he could, despite his young age.

Colin's parents finally discovered that one of the ancient machines they had been working on was in fact a time machine. Not knowing if the machine could handle more than one person, or one trip, they decided to send their son back to a time where he might have a better life, and perhaps could make a difference, and stop this future from happening. The sent Colin back through time to Paragon City, in the year 1985, their last words still echoing in his ears: "If you can, son, make them listen. Help them change. And always remember that we love you."

Upon arriving in Paragon City, Colin found that his powers no longer functioned. He wandered the streets for a time, amazed by the sights, and hoping his parents would follow him back, but they never arrived. He was eventually taken in by the Eddings family, and lived a good, normal life. But he always remembered the words of his parents, and tried to make a difference in the world. In his school years, he spent a great deal of time doing volunteer work for local soup kitchens and charities. As he got older, he became a social worker, as well as a dedicated worker for various charities and good causes. His good nature and passion for the various causes led him to become a well known spokesman for a number of charities and other good will organizations.

But when his powers returned on his 30th birthday, he decided he could inspire more people acting as a costumed hero, and so he became Mister Virtue. He would be a living example of the best qualities of mankind. He would be open and honest about his identity, and keep his behaviour beyond reproach, in the hopes that people would look up to him, and be inspired to live their lives better, to have compassion for their fellow man.

Since then, Colin has become a respected hero in Paragon, and the charities he acts as spokesman for have made great strides around the world.

Trivia

Colin out of costume in his Global Goodwill Foundation t-shirt

- Colin's costume was designed and created by his sister Samantha, a design student at Paragon University.

- Colin wears closely trimmed beard that he refuses to shave under any circumstances because his father, Kent Vash, wore his beard the same way.

- Having spent much of his youth in a time where technology was scarce, Colin has never become comfortable with electronic devices such as computers and teleporters and such. He is also extremely uncomfortable around artificially intelligent beings such as robots, never being quite sure how to talk to them.
