Description
I was told I could roleplay anything I wanted on City of Villains. So I rolled a Black Dragon obsessed with Tiamat. CONDENSED SOUP VERSION: I really wanted to roll a dragon. Morlekai is that dragon. Since I'm a particular fan of Tiamat as compared to Bahamut (see Allastor Darkflame), I decided to conjure up this character.
Powers and Abilities
Claws, Teeth and Tail: Typical weapons of a dragon meant for biting, clawing, and bludgeoning both prey and enemies alike. His claws can rend all but the strongest of metals (Impervium and Adamantium), and his jaws can rip off the arm of a Hercules Class Titan. His tail can strike with the force of a semi-truck at sixty-five miles per hour, at full momentum.
Fire Breathing and Fire Manipulation: Something uncommon for Black Dragons, Morlekai can breathe fire like any common Red Dragon. Due to his years of servitude in the Drow's forges, he has mastered how to manipulate his own fire to conjure up an array of things: A burning patch of fire on the ground, a sword of pure flame, or a pyroclasmic burst of flame to strike his foes.
The Armor of Tiamat: Armor crafted from a scale of Tiamat herself, the Armor of Tiamat requires the blood of a follower of Bahamut in order to be worn. After it is equipped, Morlekai enters an excruciating bloodthirst for any and all Bahamut following dragons and humans, leading him to a near feral state as he charges them. As blood splashes onto the armor, the souls of those that Tiamat has punished flow from the armor to protect its wearer, increasing their resistance dramatically. Any power nullifying effects tend to remove the bloodlust from Morlekai, hence why he frequents Pocket D and other nuetral zones.
Background and Current Events
Morlekai, Enslaved to Drow
Drow. Sadistic, evil beings fond of torture who enslave a variety of species for hard labor. A truly despicable race of underground Elves, they worship the mighty Lolth, the Spider Queen. When they are not fighting amongst eachother with their typical back-stabbing ways, or going to war with other subterrainian races like the Mind-Flayers, they resort to sequential 'Slave Raids'. On one particular slave raid, they came across a wizard who held back the black masses of sadists with nought but the arcane magics alone. But it was not enough, and he was slain by a poison-tipped arrow. Within his possession was something remarkable... A black dragons egg.
Much of the young dragons life was spent in labor, using his 'magic' fire breathing to forge Drow weaponry. He was contained and bound by several runes of magic, limiting his access to his ever-growing strength. A dragons pride comes natural, and it was only a few years before he began to resist the Drow's captivity. Insulting and assaulting the Matriarch of the Drow clan, whilst slandering their depraved Goddess, he was exiled, and his wings were cut off.
Wandering an Endless Void Between Dimensions...
When he was banished from the Drow lands, he was thrown through several dimensions as a result of their magics. He crash-landed in an unknown land... It looked like a mountain floating in the middle of nowhere, suspended by unknown magics within a realm of chaos and writhing energy. Confused, the crippled creature began to trudge through the snow, before finding himself towards the top at a makeshift wooden cabin. The dragon stumbled in, before collapsing, only to be woken up by its curious residents an hour later. Morlekai retaliated fiercly before retreating to a far corner, until he sensed... Another Dragon.
The Cure to the Maimed
Morlekai met Allastor Darkflame, whom after hearing of Morlekai's predicament agreed to help restore his wings using the magics of Grahm Ashland. His wings restored, he left for the Rogue Isles, where he fell into a cruel, malicious habit of slaughtering villains and heros alike. Building up his massive hoard within a secluded cave in the Rogue Isles, he began to ponder and question his existence. What goals did he have? Why was he even alive? Out of ambition, he built a Shrine to Tiamat in the middle of his hoard, his instincts overcome by his withdrawn depression and his lack of self-purpose. Awakening the next day, he found the entirety of his hoard has simply vanished, leaving nothing but a massive scale of a chromatic dragon. He had flashbacks of his days amongst the Drow's forges, and for the first time in his forsaken life, he found a purpose. He would craft this scale into armor that he would adorn in combat.
The Armor of Tiamat
A slow and agonizing process filled with Draconic pride and a sense of perfection, he toiled away at the scale, until he finally crafted the suit of dragon armor... But there was an issue: He could not wear it. No matter how much he tried to strap it to his body, it simply fell to the ground, as glorious as it was useless. Irritated by this so called 'blessing', he adorned it on his wall before going out to slaughter a few members of the Council group. When he arrived back at his cavern, the armor pulsed under his touch before quickly fading. He looked down to his hands and noticed that it was still coated with the blood of his enemies... A thought occured to him. He must slaughter more and more enemies to sate Tiamat's thirst for evil. Yet another flashback, going all the way back to Allastor. His mind was filled with an incoherent rage that was not his own, and he knew that only the blood of Bahamut would sate her...
Confrontation
His bloodlust reaching its peak, Morlekai stalked Allastor throughout Paragon City, following him dauntlessly until the Mithril Dragon took a reprieve in Atlas Park. Morlekai struck from the skies, catching Allastor off-guard in the attack. After a brief verbal confrontation between the two, it became clear what Morlekai's goals were: He was to be the counter-balance on the scales between the war between Bahamut and Tiamat, ensuring that both sides never surpassed the other. He was a Shield to Tiamat, protecting her forces against the so called 'justice' of Bahamut, and striking out at those who dared to assault her forces. The fight raged on, but not until it was interupted by a member of the Iron Horseman's supergroup, ((reserved)). Coming to Allastors aide, Donavan interupted the fight by shoving Morlekai away, but not before he wrenched his claws into Allastor to draw his blood. The fight was over, but Morlekai got what he came for, and slathered the Bahamutians blood onto the armor, which spread across into various runes. Upon donning the armor, Morlekai fled for his life, his bloodthirst sated for the time being.
