Personality

Yamakei Ikaku - He's a proud young man, ingrained within his Japanese heritage. However his blood lust is a bit of a miff, it's not known why he enjoys killing. Possibly from the extended use of Superadine/Rage while with the Tsoo.

Oni - A cunning and intelligent creature. He is Ikaku's guiding spirit, he lives within the hallows of his heart and mind. Unlike a symbiote, he comes to Ikaku's aid when he can no longer fight on his own. The tattoos that the Tsoo applied to Ikaku allows Oni to physically manifest over Ikaku to protect him from additional harm and expediate his recovery.

Character History

Quick Overview

Yamakei Ikaku was once a Dragon Enforcer for the Tsoo, but his promotion proved to be the undoing of his membership. His swordsmanship was impeccable and was well on his way to becoming one of the great Tsoo leaders under Tub Ci. Then the Oni appeared, instead of an Ancestral Spirit pointing him for potential, the demon(ogre) was the guiding spirit. His superiors coining him as the Mountain Ogre. Many of the ancestral spirits were extremely wary of this young man, because of what chose him. The ink was applied over the course of a week and finalized his place as a full member, however the red ink of his tattoos glew an ominous hue. Ikaku began to train even farther than before pushing his body well beyond his limits. That became the breaking point. Aptly dubbed the "Blood Rage", the longer a fight goes on and the more damage he deals or receives, the red ink glows even brighter and awakens an Oni within him turning him into an 8-foot tall red-skinned monster.

Early Life

Yamakei Ikaku was born in Tokyo, Japan to Yamakei Ichiro and Hoshino. Ikaku lived the typical Japanese life as a student trying to get by the extreme pressures of doing well in school so he could later become a great businessman. Nothing ever tragic happened, so he led a fairly boring life. However he excelled in learning the English language and was able to teach himself to pronounce "L's" so he could avoid the dreaded "engrish" that so many of his peers spoke.

Foreign Exchange

Ikaku's ability as a linguist helped his school determine that he would be up for a foreign exchange study to the United States. It become official that he would travel to Paragon City, Rhode Island on his sixteenth birthday. The arrangement was for him to actually live with a family during his studies, but for some odd reason that family had to back out, leaving Ikaku to an apartment to himself. Adjusting to American life was little difficult at first, no parental guidance, but he was close by the school in which he was to attend allowing him easy access without the fear of someone he didn't know follow him.

Ikaku found a small group of Asians there that went to school with him and tried to bond with them, to ease himself into his life in Paragon. However he didn't know at the time, they weren't the kind of crowd he assumed they were. He had always heard the term "in Rome do as Romans do", so he figured it was best to do what Paragonians did. His counterparts at school had parents involved with the Tsoo, so they were able to obtain Superadine easily. Unbeknown to Ikaku he was about to be tested to his will of power against that of a shot of Superadine. One night they all decided to hang out at Ikaku's apartment. They were going to try Superadine, laced with Rage, for the first time. Ikaku watched as each of his friends injected themselves and then it was his turn. Injecting it into his left arm a voice in his head spoke, Are you sure you have the willpower to over come it, it asked. Ikaku merely gulped in the hearing of the voice.

Ikaku traveled, where he didn't know, but it was at a mountain top. A cave embedded into the rock had a bright red light coming from it. Walking towards the light and into the cave. A red human-like creature sat there in the yoga position. A helmet adorned on his head, two big yellow glowing eyes, big sharp teeth jutting out of his mouth, a bare red chest with scars across it, armor plated shoulder pads, a large Chinese broadsword hung over his right shoulder and a tiger skinned pants were these creatures features. "Greeting Ikaku," the creature said.

"Who are you, how do you know my name," Ikaku asked in fear.

"I'm sure you're are aware of your own country's spirits and I've been with you since your birth," the creature told Ikaku.

"O-o-oni," Ikaku stuttered.

"Very good, Ikaku. Do not fear me or this place, for this is our utopia for us to communicate without the distractions of society," Oni said, "Oh, I can hear you friends, they're trying to wake you up. I think it's time you returned to the world." And with that Ikaku found himself back in his room, opening his eyes, staring back at his friends, they all had horrified faces. Ikaku's reaction to the Superadine had turned his skin red, though temporarily, not the usual green from extended use. "What are you guys staring at," Ikaku asked. One of friends picked him up and pull him to a mirror to show him the red tone of his skin, it was slowing fading at this point back to his normal skin hue. "We think you need to meet someone," one said.

See you Tsoo'n

That someone was Tub Ci, the leader of the Tsoo. Entering Tub Ci chamber, may looks from the Ancestral Spirits, though cover by their masks, gave Ikaku an slight uneasy feeling. Mind them no heed, they fear you because of me. This was the first time Oni had spoken to him before he had injected himself. Once more, he was asked to inject Superadine into his system to recreate what has transpired at his apartment not so long ago. Ikaku once again had come to their place of peace. "Is there a reason you are here again so soon, Ikaku," Oni asked.

"They wanted to see what had happened to me before," Ikaku said.

"Who is 'they'," Oni asked.

"Tsoo."

"If they want to see us so badly, I will give you a way to be one step closer to me," Oni said.

"How?"

"The simple phrase 'keitsuu kimon' will summon my broadsword to your side," Oni muttered.

"Is there another way to see you, besides the use of Superadine."

"Yes, however your skills are still too minute to conquer such a feat," Oni said, "Why did you ask?"

"I know how dangerous it is, and my shin seems to turn red, unlike other known cases of people turning green."

Oni thought for a few minutes and then answered, "It is actually bringing you closer to me, allowing a possible physical manifestation of myself in your world. I would not worry, your willpower is very great, so I would not worry about your use of Superadine, you seem to be immune to its toxic side effects." Shortly thereafter Ikaku awoke from his trance, still skin still glowing red. "Absolutely amazing," Tub Ci said as he had been watching the entire time, "however I don't see any proof that he would be of any use to us, can you prove me otherwise?"

Ikaku wasn't sure what Oni had told him would work, but attempted it anyway, "Yes," he said extending his arm out, "Keitsuu kimon." Just as Oni had said the Chinese broadsword that Oni is always seen with appeared in his hand pointing straight at Tub Ci. "Impressive," Tub Ci said, "come, we must prepare you for training, I believe we could use you as a Dragon Enforcer."

Ikaku now regularly used Superadine in his training and communication with Oni. It was only a matter of time an ancestral spirit would come to Tub Ci and cement Ikaku's position into the Tsoo. However the ancestral spirit never came, but it was Oni in its place. It was late that evening and Ikaku was resting from his intense training earlier that day. Oni let him sleep. Oni wasn't completely in a physical form, but an ethereal form seen by everyone in Tub Ci parlor. Many stared at what had just past them and some of the ancestral spirits were unease by Oni's presence. Oni merely gave them no heed and entered Tub Ci's quarters to converse with him. Only Tub Ci's most trusted leaders were allowed to witness this meeting between himself and Oni. "Then it is finalized, Yamakei Ikaku will now be known as Mountain Ogre. We will need to begin the ink preparation," Tub Ci said to his cabinet, "You are welcome to leave whenever you like Oni." Oni bowed, dissipated from this realm back to his own, and waited for Ikaku to awake.

"You were chosen," Oni announced when Ikaku had awoken, "you will have an even greater connection with me once the tattoos have been placed."

So began his extensive training in becoming a chosen one to Tub Ci. Days lead to weeks, weeks lead to months before any ink had been applied. Ikaku became impatient because he had yet to be fully embraced by the Tsoo, but the time finally came where he was to be inked. It took two weeks to complete the work, cover both arms from the elbow up and wrapping all the way around his body stopping at his sternum. "I wouldn't be surprised if you will be very sore after this, I would take it easy for a day or two," one of the Tsoo tattoo artist's said. Ikaku only nodded, knowing he wouldn't heed the advice. That same day wrapped in plastic and gauze from shoulder to stomach he went to continue working with the Dragon Enforcers. Many thought he should be relaxing in his recovery. Ikaku wouldn't have any of it. "So is there no one here that is willing to train with me," Ikaku asked. The others mostly milled around the edges of the room, they didn't want to have anything with what could possibly happen, Ikaku's weakened state could cause extensive amounts of damage to him or even kill him. This only angered Ikaku. Sitting in the center of the ring, he went into the lotus position taking him to Oni. "Why are they so reluctant to train," Ikaku said to Oni.

They fear us.

"Why?"

It is the unknown, only few have seen me, and they do not know what would happen in a fight.

"They have fought me before, how does that change anything?"

That was before you were given the tattoos, and this has given you a position of leadership. There is a resentment because you received the blessing before many of them.

"I see..." Taking a deep breath Ikaku returns to his view in the center of the training mats. "You there," Ikaku said pointing to a serpent enforcer, "I am your superior now, come here and train."

He wasn't very eager to come to the center of the ring to face off against Ikaku. "Let's being." Ikaku was slower than usual, the scabs over his muscles and skin ached with every movement. Ikaku was doing well enough despite the pain, but he cursed himself every time the serpent landed a hit on him. The training had drawn out to a couple of hours at this point. Ikaku could barely stand up, using his sword to prop himself up. With heavy breath Ikaku asked, "Is that it?"

"You're done, you can no longer continue, just rest already," the Serpent Enforcer said.

"No, I'm not..." Ikaku struggled to make another step towards him. You must stop this madness, you are no position to fight. I must agree with your sparring partner. Oni initiated Ikaku's tattoos and took control of him. He resisted long enough to push the serpent out of the circle. Many of the ancestor spirits had been watching. More than a handful of them stood around the sparring mat around Oni. "What are you looking at," Oni asked.

"THAT'S ENOUGH," a voice said from above. It was Tub Ci, he had been watching the entire time, "Ikaku we must speak now."

In Tub Ci's quarters, Oni was still "protecting" Ikaku saying, "You must forgive him, he has always been stubborn. I takes a lot of strength to keep him back." Tub Ci only nodded.

"I hate it has come to this, but there is way too much upheaval, because of what you are," Tub Ci said solemnly, "but do not think I think any less of you. It seems you are here for much greater things far beyond my scope. I must ask you to leave us. It really does pain me that I had to say those words, but I wish you well, and continue training for what is brought to you after us."

Broken Katana

Ikaku had stormed out of Tub Ci parlor. "What does he know. He just as fearful and jealous at us as the ancestral spirits were." He at this point did not need Superadine to communicate with Oni, his training had given him great control and had brought Oni much closer to him. However his rage against the Tsoo would prove to change how he would handle things in the future.

Ikaku figured it was time to move on. Leaving through Siren's Call, he snuck onto an Arachnos Flier making it to Sharkhead Isle. He squatted from abandoned building to abandoned building until he got accustom to the Rogue Isles. One day in St. Martial he came across a Tsoo safe house. Probably housing things he was used to he decided to claim it as his own base of operations. A confrontation with Katana was all he needed. Cracking the door slightly, in Katana's main quarters, to make sure he would notice. Ikaku sat and waited. It had been a few hours, sounds started to come from otuside, his men had returned from whatever they had been doing. Katana walked up to his room and noticed the door. "Odd," he said as you could hear the 'shink' as he extended his claws from his fists.

Mountain Ogre's base of operations in St. Martial

"We're glad you didn't let your guard down," Ikaku said from the shadows and whispered 'keitsuu kimon' summoning Oni's sword.

"Who's there?"

"We're surprised you haven't already figured it out," Ikaku grinned underneath his mask.

"Ogre!"

"Before you summon your men, you might want to hear our proposition."

"I'm listening," Katana said, slightly perturbed.

"You have two options, leave and live, or stay and die. If you don't believe us, we're right behind you ready to kill you."

"You're bluffing," Katana said not willing to move himself from where he stood.

"Try us," Ikaku and Oni said.

"MEN QUICKLY, INTRUDER!"

Ikaku waited until some of his men had come into his room. They didn't see anyone. Ikaku stabbed Katana through the back of his spine, blood spat out from stomach. A dragon enforcer had just killed Katana. "Get'em," one of the Serpent Enforcer's said not knowing who or what it really was. Flashes of steel, sounds of chinks, torn flesh and cloth filled the former room of Katana. The number of Tsoo were starting to get to Ikaku, heavy breath, sword felt more weighted, and blood. You must rest, Ikaku. With a heavy sigh and glowing tattoos, "I think you're right." A blinding red flash of light engulfed the room and Oni appeared in the place of Ikaku. The remaining Tsoo saw this towering figure and promptly turned around in a panic and left their safe house. It had been claimed by Mountain Ogre.

After his recovery from the wounds he suffered from their battle with the Tsoo, he put out ads in the Rogue Isle Protector as an Assassin/Sword for Hire. Taking just about any job to build up some funds, mostly medical supplies, to help reduce his recovery time between each job.

Enter the Bushido

In the midst of meditation. There was a knock on the door, with broadsword in hand Ikaku asked, "Who's there?"

"I am here because I've seen you in the papers as of late and also noticed your ad," the voice said on the other side of the door.

"How did you find me, we don't take jobs from here."

"Quite the contrary, you will now," the voice said. In a split second an orange glow swung at Ikaku, blocking it with his broadsword. Fire and steel met. "What's the meaning of this," Ikaku said irritated. "Now that I have your attention, may we discuss a proposition," the voice said.

"State you name and purpose before I kill your friend."

"I am Tyranno, the one with the fire sword is Renascent, we are Bushido, Praetorian bounty hunters," Tyrannical said, "I-we, could us another arm in our endeavors."

"If you can give me something worth while, I'll help, but don't go assuming we're working for you."

"We," Tyranno asked.

"If you want to find out, tell your man here to try and kill us."

"What good would that do, we want you alive."

"You question our power?"

"No."

"Then can you trust us when we say such a thing," Ikaku said.

Tyranno sighs, "Very well, Renascent, kill him." Renascent only nodded and began flinging fists and swords of fire at Ikaku. He wasn't impressed. Ikaku embellished a little allowing for Renascent to land a few hits here and there, just enough that Oni even asked, What are you doing, he isn't worth my summoning. Ikaku said, "Just work with me here." Then I shall. Ikaku's tattoos began to glow and a flash of red light brings Oni to view. A quick slice of the broadsword it shattered Renascent's fire sword and just stopped short of the clothes in his chest. "Are you satisfied," Oni said.

"Yes, we have much to discuss," Tyranno said as Oni let him in the door.

Kumo vs Oni

Mr. Wong was still fuming over his lose of Superadine, but he knew he couldn't tell anyone of the Tsoo, they'd surely have some sort of punishment for him for having something like stolen. He searched for someone outside of the Tsoo circle to deal with Grant, not only to kill him, but also return the stolen Superadine. "Ah, yes, Yamakei Ikaku or should I call you Mountain Ogre," Mr. Wong asked fidgetly.

"Ogre is fine, even though those who gave it to me are no longer on the same side," Ikaku answered.

"Are you here for what I requested," Mr. Wong asked as if doubling checking Ikaku was here for what he was asking.

"We've no other reason in being here," Ikaku asnwered annoyingly.

"Good, I need you to kill this man right here," Mr. Wong said pointing to the picture, "His name is Grant Miller, he has my Superadine, and I want him dead."

"Any additional information we might need," Ikaku asked hoping to rattle Mr. Wong cage.

"He should be easy enough to dispose of..." Mr. Wong trails off, "just stop asking questions and get rid of him."

"Alright, sounds easy enough," Ikaku said putting his hands into his pockets walking out of Mr. Wong's apartment.

Ikaku had been trailing Grant all day, he didn't seem to have noticed him. The Superadine was something he could careless about, but the thrill of killing someone was always more fun than a side note on a task at hand. Though Ikaku was starting to get bored, everything Grant did was almost beyond boring, he was going to watch paint dry at this point if it got any worse. Apparently Grant had planned on hanging out in Pocket D that piqued Ikaku's interest, Finally, something he thought. Grant has made his way halfway up the chalet to see some of his friends. Ikaku let them speak with each other for while before walking past them. Ikaku noticed Grant seemed a little tense, had he actually noticed him earlier that day or merely unsettled by Ikaku's aura.

"Guys could you give me a minute," Grant said after Ikaku had passed a few minutes earlier.

Ikaku laughs, "Very interesting, Wong never mentioned that."

"Go tell Wong that you failed, you're not getting the Superadine back," Grant said.

"We'll give you more than that... sayonara, Grant," Ikaku said vanishing before Grant's eyes.

Later that evening Ikaku returned to Mr. Wong's apartment. "Well, did you get my Superadine back and is Grant dead," Mr. Wong asked.

Ikaku said deadpan, "No."

"WHAT!"

Mr. Wong attempted to swat Ikaku in the face for not doing his job. Ikaku grabbed his arm and turned it behind Mr. Wong back. "ow, Ow, OW, OWOW," Mr. Wong said in pain. Ikaku held his lips inches away from Mr. Wong's face. "We're very disappointed in you Mr. Wong, you failed to mention anything after we'd asked, but we can tell you this much. Have you ever heard of Bushido," Ikaku asked. Mr. Wong grimaced in pain, "Y-yes."

"You should've never trusted us, we have our own motives and this proved to be very helpful in tracking down some key figures. You know what this means right," Ikaku said to Mr. Wong. "No..." he said still wincing.

"We no longer have use for you. It is rather unfortunate that you didn't get the Tsoo involved with this and you might still have your life." Mr. Wong's eyes grew bigger. Ikaku said a short phrase in Japanese, "Keitsuu, kimon." His Chinese broadsword materialized in his other hand, his muscles bristled, his body burst into a bright red light and Oni appeared. Ikaku licked his lips, "Now you die." Grabbing Mr. Wong by his head and then thrusting his broadsword into Mr. Wong's stomach disemboweling him and sending his entrails to the floor, quickly turning around to slice his head off as his body began to fall to the floor. Ikaku figured Mr. Wong would've wanted to die that way, to save face if you for failing your master, is known as seppuku. Mr. Wong's lifeless body now lays there pooled in his own blood, it sat there for three days before anyone had noticed he was dead. The stench from his body alerted a tenant to his apartment in horror. Originally ruled as an assisted suicide it was later established as a homicide, even though authorities had no leads as to who wanted Mr. Wong dead.

Grey Ogre

The grey version of Oni.

Mutiny. That was the plan. Sly Spyder and Ninjette were all for overthrowing Tyranno, because they too thought he wasn't fit to be a leader. Ikaku employed Dr. Aeon in creating the N.E.D. (Nanite Extraction Device) to remove the nanites Tyranno had taken from Masked. Ikaku knew that any chance to throw Tyranno off guard was to give the appearance of having who he wanted almost in his grasp, Rave Spider. Ikaku devised another confrontation in Pocket D, in the Cage. Mid fight Ikaku let it be know that he had Grant's parents in Bloody Bay near Meteor Char on top of the oil silos. The knowledge Grant gained opened him up and Ikaku thurst his broadsword into Grant's shoulder. However Grant was able to keep hold Ikaku's sword. It was a small price to pay for a greater goal. Calling for Spyder and Ninjette they waited in the shadows atop the silos. Emblishing a bit, Ikaku told Tyranno that they had Rave Spider and were just waiting for him to show up. Instead of seeing Rave Spider, Asunder had come in place of Grant. Ikaku wasn't pleased, but moments later a wounded Rave Spider came walking up throwing his broadsword to the ground. Ikaku nodded and showed him where he had left his parents. "Let us finish this."

It was chaos, but it was intended. Leaving Spyder and Ninjette to their own devices and giving no heed in protecting Tyranno from Rave Spider or Asunder. The battle was long, it was like a bad square dancing group two heroes dealing with four villains, switching between themselves. During their fighting, Ikaku told Tyranno that he would claim nothing. Initiating that Ikaku had no plans in actually letting Tyranno capture Grant and take him to Praetoria. Tyranno fled to Emperor Cole's palace in perparion of overthrowing Tyrant. Finally it was just between Grant and Ikaku. Rave Spider in a weakened state was able to overcome the trial that Ikaku had set before him. He knew it was time to leave. Defeated, but only at the cost of letting Grant live another day, Ikaku retreated back to the Rogue Isles with Spyder and Ninjette where they went to Vernon von Grun to transport themselves to Praetoria and Cole's palace. Tyrant was already there trying to subdue the endless number of ninja's that Tyranno had employed in Bushido. Ikaku, Spyder, and Ninjette came to his aid and fought their way to the top of the palace cornering Tyranno on the roof, Ikaku extracted the nanites that gave Tyranno his power and injected himself with them and turned Oni in a grey-ish version of himself. Destroying the N.E.D. to keep anyone from ever having it used against him. They turned him over to Tyrant who arrested the traitor.

New Bushido

With the majority of Tyranno's army either arrested, killed, or left on their own accord, Bushido was very thin on members and agents to do any extensive planning. Ikaku, Spyder, and Ninjette began putting back together the Bushido Earth Prime base after it had been damaged by Rave Spider and Heatpulse. New ideas were in order, so Ikaku shipped in building supplies from his home country and began to rebuild the Bushido base as the Dojo. Progress was slow by lack of additional man power, Ikaku taking it upon himself to do most if not all of the work.
