History
"Stay'd me a prisoner in my chamber when
Those suns of glory, those two lights of men...
Beheld them, when they lighted, how they clung
In their embracement, as they grew together"
-Henry VIII, WIlliam Shakespeare
Nacht Ihr Vati's mentor, father, and only man he cared for, was none other than the 5th Column robotic mastermind, Vandal.
As a teenager, he was found shortly after a 5th Column incursion into an unknown villain's lair - the boy could not been seen, aside from a severed finger on the ground near the secret underground tunnel system. When a troop of Mekmen were sent to investigate, it was found there was a technological mastermind down there - they came back and began to decimate the entire squad of spec ops., often known as the Nacht. The Mekmen were quickly destroyed, and the entire squad, or what was left of it, went down to search for who had reprogrammed the brilliantly designed robots. Those who survived say they were assaulted on all sides by a single enemy, a man with speed to match that of light. Knowing there was no way out, or else the boy would have been far gone by now, the soldiers had but to wait for their leaders to arrive. Vandal and Requiem arrived, and soon got to the task of trying to capture the delinquent - they each saw possibility. While Vandal believed he could take the technological side of this child, Requiem thought he could unleash the more primal side of the young man, and fuse him with an experimental alien being. The two went in, each willing to die to unlock the boy's secrets. They found only a shriveling, sobbing 12-year-old, with the only a ratchet and sauter in his hands. The man called Requiem sat down a while away from the boy, noting he was covered in burns. He began to speak to the boy in German, who only continued to cry. He then began to speak French. The child still only cried. The only other language he knew, Italian, still evoked no change in the boy. Vandal quickly realised the small boy was British, and began speaking in English to the child. The exact exchange of the two is unknown, and for quite a time has been speculated. It's the main theory of many that the conversation was about the boy's heritage and recruiting him to the 5th.
We have recollections from many of the troop of 5th Column are piecing together what happened next. The boy and the two leaders of the largest spy-network inside the U.S. at the time came out from the tunnel system about 15 minutes later, content in their discovery. The man Vandal had the ratchet in has hand, his other arm wrapped around the young boy. The young boy's face was covered in tear streaks, dirt and burns, but looked wholly happy. Only Requiem was in a sour mood, knowing he would never be able to use the boy as a jumping off point for super speed in the Galaxy program. The few 5th Column soldiers captured say they 'remember Vandal looked as happy as a new father would'. The three left for the nearby 5th column base, needing to speak. Vandal and Requiem spoke first, about what they would do with the boy. The conclusion was that Vandal would take him under his wing, learn his talents, secrets and various other sundry facts, and train him to be a powerful force in the 5th Column. They then spoke with the boy, asking about what he knew of his father, his technological masteries and how he had the ability to move at speeds faster than the Mekmen - the boy lifted up his pants to the kneee, and the two men saw he had artificial legs, very well disguised.
After the interview, the young boy was soon taken under Vandal's wing, taught even more about robotics, and turned into a 5th Column killing machine. Not much is known about him or his work in the 5th after that point in time. The most we know is that he designed many failed robots, and highly improved Vandal's existing robotic armies.
The next piece of information is from the near-past, when he joined the Sixth Column, taking upon himself Ihr Vati, including the complimentary Nacht. In German, Ihr Vati means "your father". This is a factor in the fact he has not forgotten the 5th Column completely, and misses Vandal - or possibly his real father.
Personality
The hero called Nacht Ihr Vati is a complicated network of a little robot, mostly human. He is a somber fellow, unless engaged in his usual Warburg repetour against people who insult the Sixth Column.
On the outside, he is an avid hater of the 5th Column, hoping only to face and kill each of them. Angry at the slightest inquiry of himself, Vandal or the 5th Column invokes upon you the rage of 34 years of torment upon a young boy. He's not one for much talking big, unless the other man won't put up nor shut up, and pisses him off. He doesn't normally fight and run, prefering to duel with a single enemy instead. Outside of battle, if ever, he reads science fiction books, along the line of Ender's Game. He likes to walk through the halls of the former Sixth Column base, reminiscing of the times there.
Inside, his real battle is with the Council, for throwing him from the only father figure he ever had. His comrades within the Sixth Column having deserted him, he is now but an empty shell of his former self - depressed unless with Mahargenin, the only other Nacht still in touch, or angered while fighting any of the monsters of the Fifth Remnant, believeing them a mockery of the real 5th.
Deeper still, Ihr Vati is only lonely. His life has been filled by death and fighting, and the two groups who had accepted him have long gone away. He longs only for the thrill of battle, besting an enemy who has not been bested, defeating the Rikti (we believe he hates them for the world domination at the same time as the 5th Column) alongside his villainous counterparts, and tweaking his system to beat the unbeatable, break the indestructible, and destroy those who may insult him. He relies heavily on his "kamerad"s in Warburg, to some extent. Dueling anyone who wishes is his only way of expressing his feelings of superiority, and oft, inferiority.
The Swords
The blades Nacht Ihr Vati carries, his Talsorian blade, Rikti blade and Impervium-crafted katana, all have the same monograms, on one side a small "6C" and the other a V with a skull inside. The Talsorian blade is speculated to be not a laser, but of a glowing chemical burned onto some other metal, though no one has ever been close enough and live to tell us.
The Rikti blade he carries is not a replica, it is a true sword from the homeworld, taken from a Rikti soldier defending the Mothership. Along with it, the Impervium blade he carries was given to him by the Lady Grey herself, for valiant effort againt the Rikti.
He also carries the damnable Talsorian blade, seemingly made by hand.
He also carries many another blade upon his back, hidden by his robes. He carries a Japanese Shogun katana and wakasashi blade, bestowed to him by various members of the Shinsengumi. Beneath those is a broadsword, placed in his care by Paladin for heroism in Siren's Call against the villainous Recluse's Project: Destiny, though under an alias, his other 'suit' doesn't use blades. He carries only one other blade, a small dobie, seemingly from a simpler time, but origin unknown.
Powers
Swordsmanship and Stamina
Nacht Ihr Vati is known to posses only the power of what his robotics can give him; the ability to sense bullets, or any attacks for that matter, and dodge them, his amazing swordsmanship due to his replacement wrists, and his universally envied nanotech, made with Vandal in his service of the 5th, which acts as white and red bloods cells as though on steroids. They carry many times the amount of oxygen than normal cells, allowing him to stay active for days, if not weeks. He also has a small robot acting as his heart, increasing bloodflow.
Regenerative Abilities
However, the reason he has the amazing regenerative ability is yet unknown - no one asks either. Many suppose it is a side-effect of 5th Column experiments with Nicti, some say it was his mysterious father, and yet others go as far to say it's actually the Talsorian blade's glow which allows him to heal at much faster rates compared to other heroes. This much is known - it's hard to get through his amazing regeneration. He can heal bullets wounds in a few seconds, and limbs are repaired in about 5 minutes. Any poisons or radiation entering his body is nigh-useless - hiss cells are immune to mutation due to a specialized genome that memorizes their structures.
Morale Speculation
Ihr Vati assumes his role as a hero in Paragon City. In the 5th Column for a major part in his life, many psychologists speculate he should be using his powers for evil, or he would be deeply disturbed by having his father ripped from him at young age; however, his blades are stayed against heroes, unless they wish to duel him in a friendly match. His morales are in full sight of himself - he knows he was doing wrong in the 5th, and does not wish to atone - his actions against the Council and other world-domination groups is not for the bettering of humanity, but moreso for vengeance.
Vulnerabilities
If you're reading this, you're obviously a villain out to get this Nacht Ihr Vati. For you, he will have no weaknesses, no strengths, no fears. He will be as robotic as possible, calculating as a murderer, while out to kill you. While not entirely a feasible thing to do, there are few ways to kill Ihr Vati, or at least force him to use his MediVac. His heart, which is really an amped up pacemaker, will be offbeat if short-circuited, leading to a reduced energy level. His blood carries only so many nanites, and as such making him bleed large amounts would render him weak.
However, he has strengths - if you were to assault a Sixth Column member by any name, he would go in an all out attempt to kill you. He will succeed. Assaulting any rogue members will invoke his wrath also. Attacking anyone who is at peace with him, or if he is in a duel will ultimately result in your death.
Or being a Stalker. Seriously.
Associates
Being deserted by everyone you knew, you use the term 'friends' or 'allies' sparingly. He does, however, have a few;
Mahargenin - A man of the Sixth Column, Mahargenin is one of the four reamaining Sixth Columners, or 'Sixthies'. His alter-ego, when he fought crime, was Nacht Opus, a fellow swordsman and highly-regenerative man. At the collapse of the Sixth, he turned rogue, fighting and using his powers for money in the Rogue Isles. Now, with the rebuild of the Sixth, his emotions evolved his mutation yet again, bringing new powers - potential and kinetic energy manipulation and latent psychic abilities. He still oft villain-izes the Rogue Isles with his Radiation and Icey powers, earning the ire of many a Sixthie, and Ihr Vati is often playing 'Switzerland' between Mahargenin and other Sixthies. His strengths include Radiation and the freezing cold, and his costume is a dark purple and bright green. Oft seen in his only happy mood around him, Mahar is the closest friend of Ihr Vati.
Dark Lord Necros - Another of the reamining 'Sixthies', our Dark Lord has known ties to Nacht Falcon, a man who used blades on his hands and speedy-quick reflexes combined with heightened senses from robotics to fight crime. Upon the rebuilding of the Sixth, his alter-ego came back from wherever it was, and was quickly promoted to General. He is Mahargenin's older brother, but from another world where a flesh eating disease rips through their people.
Shigetaki Kadekawa - Ihr Vati's idol, Herr Kadekawa is a true Japanese man who uses a katana to fight crime, sometimes alongside Ihr Vati in Warburg, sometimes against him. Unfortunately, Kadekawa was killed by another, Shinyu Miyazato.
Dark Reperation - This hero is one of Ihr Vati's own heart, another using a katana along with amazing regenerative abilities to fight crime. Though of unknown origin to many, Dark Reperation is a valiant fighter alongside those in Warburg.
Chernobyl's Fist - Though not seen in quite a while, he has been seen under other names, such as Kuihi and Nacht Viper. He is the last of the four remaining 'Sixthies' and another close friend of Ihr Vati. A mutant who gained his powers in the Chernobyl accident, he is unforgiving, using his awesome strength coupled with the amazing ability to make fire around himself at will.
Quyan - A man who uses artifacts to manipulate the mind's sight, Quyan or 'Q' is another heroic man who oft graces Warburg with Ihr Vati. The two are not known to be close in any other respects besides battle.
Paladin - The man who calls himself Paladin was one of the few people Ihr Vati remembered when he returned from the 5th to the normal world, Paladin is still fighting in Siren's Call today, with a lack of Killer Whale and Irish Luck.
Shameful - A villain by nature, Shameful is the leader of many a Mothership raid. To reiterate, he despises Rikti and what they stand for, and will go along with anyone at anytime to defeat them.
