Background

On September 15, 1984, a boy was born in a sterile hospital on a sunny day in Independence Port. It was this day Mark Trenton Black took his first breath. Born to a stay at home mother, and a dock working father, Mark had the typical classic family.

Most days were normal, school, homework, and friends. Mark spent many days near the water. He was an outstanding student throughout school, and was a very athletic kid.

As high school came along, Mark matured. He had his first job at 16, was active in the community, and a star wide receiver for Independence Port High. There was nothing that could stop Mark from doing his best at everything that came his way.

Mark finished high school and began taking some classes at a small community college. On the side, though, he was working with his father at the docks, loading and unloading large cargo ships. He loved the job, and knew that what he did was what kept Paragon City alive.

After a while of working at the docks, Mark decided to venture into his own place. He figured a small apartment would be best, so long as it was close to the water. When he settled on a place, it was a great convienence for him, because he was within walking distance of the docks and the pier. His life could not be any better.

Mark's Personal life as a man was never too spectacular. He was too involved in his work and the community to worry about females. From time to time, he would find himself going out and finding a girl, but it would never go so far as to be called a relationship.

“Dad! Watch out!”

-A large container falls from the load carrier-

“Dad! RUN!”

-Mark begins to sprint towards his father, a mad dash to keep the container from falling-

-Mark's father looks up to see the large orange container heading right to him-

“DAD!”

-Mark jumps, pushing his father out of the way and landing flat on his front-

-The container comes crashing down, missing Mark's head, but completely smashing his arms-

-Mark blacks out-

-The sound of a heart monitor-

“Mark, sweetie, open your eyes”

“Son, wake up…”

-His eyes open-

“Mom? Dad? “

-Mark looks around-

“What am I doing here?”

“You had an accident.”

“Yeah, you saved your old man…but…”

-Mark looks down his body-

“…my…arms…”

-Everything goes black again-
