History

Most of Plip’s background is known only to her. She has no official birth records, no social security number, and the identities of her parents are not known to her. What is known about her, is that she was abandoned by her parents (possibly unwed teens) on the steps of an orphanage. As Plip grew up, her ability to generate and discharge electricity manifested itself quite spectacularly, as she caused a blackout of the orphanage and the surrounding areas. In the confusion, Plip grabbed her few belongings and fled the home.

Apparently, she spent the next few years living on the streets, scrounging for food and stealing what she could to survive. It was then she was abducted by agents for Crey, seeking test subjects for an experiment. When it was determined she was a mutant however, the scientist in charge chose her for a different experiment; one geared towards unlocking her growing powers full potential. The experiment was painful but eventually it produced the desired effect in unlocking Plip’s full power. However, due to her young age, she had virtually no control over these powers and after several unfortunate accidents, was fitting with a set of power-dampening gauntlets to keep her powers in check.

The Countess decided to use the young girl for and experiment in tapping into her body’s energy field as an alternate source of power. However, Plip was not interested in taking part in more freaky experiments, and promptly escaped from the Crey lab; and finding herself miles from her original home and now in Paragon City.

Trapped in unfamiliar territory, she once again found herself wondering the streets and stealing what she needed to survive. That was until she stole from a member of the Skulls by mistake. She was assaulted by a group of Skulls, unable to use her powers due to the gauntlets on her hands, When asked of the happend durring the time captive she will not speak of it. Fortunately, she was rescued at that moment by two other runaway youths, Maverick Atom and Ace. The two youths defeated the gang of skulls, using neutron blots and ice to scare them off.

The three would remain together for a couple more years, sticking together and helping each other out of any predicaments they got into. Years of tinkering with her gauntlets enabled Plip to access her powers with at least some control, as well as enabling her to use another power unlocked by the experiment: teleportation. This would come in handy when the three teens would find themselves in situations needing a quick escape.

Eventually, the three young mutants came to the attention of Freedom Corps, who were able to bring the three of them in and give them some help finding a new home to live in. Namely at a place for other children like themselves. Run by a young woman the three would come to think of as their own mother. And so, Plip Maverick and Ace were brought to Shining Hope and placed under the guardianship of Colossal Girl. With the help of both her and Hyperion Shield, the three teens were given the opportunity to have a chance at a normal life. It also gave Plip not only a chance to better understand her powers, but to also find someone who loved her, in the young geomorph named Quentin Vincent.

Today, Plip has become a full-fledged member of the Young Gods of the Golden Age; alongside her boyfriend Kid Quarry. Also, she is back in school, balancing her time between fighting crime and learning to control her powers better.

Other distinguishing features

Plip has a knack for gadgeteering, she can create some interesting devices and fix others, from the junk and broken tech she finds around and in the Greylock Storage bins, she also can use computers and hold her own against some pretty impressive hackers.

Limitations

Because of her Gauntlets and the need of them to limit her power and regulate the electricity, Plip never learned to swim, nor can she go long without her gauntlets, the overload and discharge could cause another blackout and sever harm to her and others.

Plip must wear her gauntlets, and she has a special costume made to provide limited protection from the elements.

Plip will use anything she can get her hands on as a weapon in a time of need; she has been seen with a sledge hammer, baseball bat, and old wooden bow.
