Princess Pranks

Princess Pranks is what many would refer to as “comic relief”, adopting a funny-girl façade that borders on cheesy more often than not. She doesn’t consider herself extremely witty, and will in fact admit that many of her “jokes” are pretty lame. However, her laid back personality is appealing to some, enhanced by the fact that she never takes herself too seriously.

Character

Jak hails from the Rogue Isles, and is the only daughter of the infamous Don Scarlatti. For the most part, she is your typical, privileged socialite and enjoys all the perks of living in high society, regardless of the means by which her family has acquired such a lifestyle. Those that read the Rogue Isles society pages will recognize “Jaqueline”, for pictures of her family appear often. However, very few know that she and “Jak” are the same person. Those that have crossed paths with both “Jaqueline” and her alter-ego may experience a sense of de ja vu; the lilt of her voice, or the vaguely familiar impish grin that so frequently makes its appearance. However, they will be unable to place where they may have seen such things before, preventing them from putting two and two together to discover her secret.

This comely comedian goes looking for trouble more often than it finds her. Fond of making mischief, she never passes up the opportunity to pull a prank on some poor, unsuspecting soul. Her antics result in brushes with the law on a regular basis. When she works alone, she never fails to leave her calling card. As a result, the PPD and Longbow have dubbed her “Princess Pranks”.

Jak appears harmless at a glance, but beneath the funny-girl exterior lies an ambitious, intelligent, ruthless woman that lets nothing stand in her way. This would be well-known if the PPD were able to connect her to several gruesome crime scenes. However, such deeds were not her work alone, so she refrains from leaving her calling card. What little honor the “Princess” has dictates that it is uncouth to take full credit for what she does not achieve herself. Add to the mix skill, cunning, and a good deal of money and one is able to cover her tracks very well.

Background

Jaqueline “Jackie” Scarlatti

Jaqueline’s father is the infamous Don Scarlatti. He met the current Mrs. Scarlatti in Tokyo while on a business trip. Smitten with the demure Asian woman’s beauty, he swept her off her feet during a brief courtship, married her, and took her back to the Rogue Isles. The Don became the proud father of twin boys within their first year of marriage. Five years later, Jaqueline made the only female addition to the Scarlatti brood, and would be the last.

Jaqueline showed signs of being a spirited, troublesome child at an early age. Her almond-shaped eyes (her best and most unique feature inherited from her mother) always sparkled with mischief. An impish smile almost always graced her lips, but was more noticeable when she’d done something naughty. She was the bane of her elder brothers’ existence, living in their shadows simply to make their lives miserable. Very few of their girlfriends lasted thanks to Jackie’s antics. She didn’t misbehave because she was deviant; that quality didn’t develop until much later in life. She did it simply because as the youngest child and only girl, she could get away with it.

Having had the privilege of attending a variety of expensive boarding schools, Jak is well educated. Through out childhood and adolescence she studied ballet, gymnastics, and fencing. She continues these studies on a part-time basis, unwilling to commit full time to college. To do so would interfere with her…extra curricular activities as Princess Pranks. Her athletic abilities come in quite handy while masquerading as Princess Pranks. Agile, light on her feet, with the lithe, graceful body of a dancer, she's honed her abilities to near perfection, making her an entertaining, yet worthy foe for anyone she may cross paths with.

Princess Pranks a.k.a. Jak

For most of her adolescent life, Jackie was oblivious to her family’s less-than legal activities. It wasn’t until her late teens that she discovered the true source of her family’s wealth. The Scarlatti family owned and operated several medical facilities through out the Isles. Most believed they were contributing to society in a positive manner. However, these establishments were merely a front for what went on underground. The Don had invested a great deal in experimental drug development for black market production. These drugs had various uses ranging from physical enhancement to recreational use. Thus far, their best selling product is LAFF, a stimulant meant to produce a high capable of lasting for several hours without the user developing a dependency. Side effects included sporadic bouts of unexplainable laughter, a lasting state of euphoria and increased strength that comes and goes over a period of several hours.

Jackie’s accidental discovery of the truth led to a rebellious stage that most attributed to simply being a teenager. Her near celebrity status as a socialite made it extremely easy for her to gain acceptance in pretty much any entourage. Particularly the seedy underground clubs where drugs produced by her father’s company were easily acquired. It was at one of these clubs that she experimented with LAFF for what would be the first and only time.

For reasons unknown, the drug didn’t have the expected affect on her. Sure, she experienced the typical high, but she also became violently ill for a period of several days. The drug somehow altered her physically, which she would discover over the next several months. Not only was she more nimble and stronger than before, she healed faster than what is considered normal. The latter was discovered by accident while shaving her legs, of all things. The razor slipped in her soapy grasp, and what should have been a very nasty cut that would take weeks to mend, healed before her eyes without leaving so much as a scar! It was then that she began to suspect that these changes were somehow tied to LAFF.

Over the next few weeks, she put herself through a series of experiments to test her theories about her new abilities. Being the Don’s daughter, with convenient access to his office made it easy for her to sneak in to study his research. She spent hours pouring over case studies, gleaning bits and pieces of the puzzle with each new discovery. Finally satisfied that she’d learned as much as possible about the drug, she now had a decision to make: Go to her father and confess what she’d done to see if she could be cured, or keep it to herself and use these abilities to her advantage.

She chose the latter.

Physical Description

Princess Pranks
Jaqueline "Jackie" Scarletti

When in "costume" Jak favors the appearance of a Jester, clad in red and black leather from head to toe. She wears a mask, covering much of her face, save for the habitually impish grin that graces her lips. Out of costume, she is not what one would refer to as a breath-taking beauty, but is fairly attractive. Fair-skinned with the aforementioned slightly slanted, almond-shaped eyes indicate she is of mixed racial heritage. Her features are delicate, with high, sculpted cheek bones, framed by auburn hair with golden highlights. However, she does not appear fragile in any way, exuding an exuberant defiance that suggests inner strength, with an abundance of intelligence and enthusiasm for life. Her figure is that of a graceful dancer, toned due to her history with ballet, gymnastics and fencing. Her curves are nothing out of the ordinary and are equally proportioned to her lithe frame. One might say she moves with self-assured, cat-like grace, attributed to her athletiscism. She does have one tattoo between her shoulder blades. (described in more detail further down the page.)

Personality

Jak is a self-admitted tomboy at times. As the only female child in her family, she actually admired her older brothers a great deal. However, since she was five years younger, and subject to alot of teasing, she took it upon herself to be a permanent thorn in their sides. Though she loved them, she also envied them for the time spent with their father. The Don saw her brothers as capable of taking over the family business, while he saw her as merely his adored little girl whose purpose was to behave like the classy lady her mother was. This did not sit well with Jak. Although she gave in to many of her mother's wishes and participated in activities more fit for a "lady", Jak was the one that insisted her parents allow her to take up fencing and basic self-defense.

That's not to say she doesn't have her girly moments. She appreciates the finer things in life, but doesn't feel they are always neccessary. She can have just as much fun roughing it in the great outdoors as she can living it up in a swanky club. Like most women, loves shopping. She also has a great deal of apreciation for all arts, and is quite fond of poetry. Despite being a bit of a tomboy, she cleans up rather nicely when out of costume. However, she's not one to show alot of skin, being a firm believer in leaving a little to the imagination. Of course, costume parties are an exception to this rule depending on the dress code.

Her sense of humor can be twisted at times, finding amusement in the discomfort of others. Especially if said discomfort is due to one of her pranks. This is more evident when she is in costume, for it suits her purpose very well. Out of costume, she is more reserved, demure, and lady-like so as not to give away her secret identity. This is not to say she has two completely seperate personalities. She simply presents herself in which ever way the situation calls for. She also makes certain that she never takes herself too seriously, capable of laughing at herself as well as others.

Jak is far from anti-social. Indeed, she is a villainess, but her heart is not completely blackened by life in the Rogue Isles. She is perfectly capable of functioning in society without resorting to deviance. She enjoys the company of others, hero or villain, depending on the setting, and is grateful for the friends she has made along the way. In some cases, she feels a bit of guilt for hiding who she is from certain people, especially those that have been completely accepting of her slightly excentric qualities. However, she realizes the need for duplicity is a neccessity and has learned to live with it. Though she would willingly stand against anyone that offends even a hero friend, some things are better kept secret.

Despite coming from a very wealthy family, and making a fairly impressive fortune of her own through various nefarious deeds, she doesn't make a big deal out of it, preferring to use her clout for mixing and mingling for information purposes. She has no desire to climb the social ladder any further than her family already has, and at times, feels slight annoyance that the papparazi are never very far away.

As far as relationships go, she is extremely jaded. This is largely due to her father's numerous affairs. Though he loves her mother, he has a wandering eye and a great appreciation for the ladies. Seeing how her mother tolerated years of infidelity with a quiet dignity despite the humiliation, led Jak to vow never to put herself at risk of suffering the same fate. Should she take a lover she will have a great deal of respect for the individual, will consider them a dear friend, and would hope for the same in return, regardless of how long the liason may or may not last. Some may not understand why she has no desire to settle down, get married, and have children, therefore she is very particular about who she becomes involved with. For Jak to take a lover, it will be very important that they accept her wishes and agree that it is in the best interest of both parties not to complicate things by expecting more than she is willing to give. There is a good chance though, that one day she will find Mr. Right, but should that day come, she certainly doesn't intend to exchange her blade for an apron and a white picket fence.

Abilities & Assets

Princess Pranks gained her super powers through the use of an illegal drug. Because of this, one would think that science would be her origin but it is not. Her origin is technology, which will be more evident down the line when more costume slots are available to her. Since her fighting abilities are based more on natural athletic prowess, her super powered ability to regenerate is downplayed. Regeneration is less-noticable as a super power than shooting fire from finger tips or the ability to fly, so for role play purposes, she will lean more toward the use of technology to aid her with her less-than-legal activities.

Fighting Prowess

Jak has limited martial arts skills due to basic self-defense classes. As mentioned before, she studies ballet, gymnastics and fencing. She's used the skills she developed through her studies to hone herself into a graceful, agile fighter. She also enjoys toying with her foes by leading them to believe she's the fool she appears to be due to her garrish, flashy appearance. Gymnastics have come in very handy, enabling her to flip and tumble out of harms way with ease. Ballet has kept her very light on her feet so much that the enemy rarely hears her coming. That, combined with honed reflexes from fencing make her a worthy, lethal adversary. Regardless of any trickery she may use, when in combat, she is always entertaining. Whether she's tumbling about like a jester or pirouetting out of reach, there is grace in her movements that makes it appear as if she is leading her foe in a deadly dance of skill and witts.

Weapons & Gadgets

One item Jak never goes looking for trouble without is her calling card.

Jak's Calling Card

Princess Pranks favors twin rapiers as her weapons of choice. She is also very adept at throwing knives, therefore keeps many throwing daggers hidden on various parts of her body.

Secreted away in strategically placed compartments of her costume, she carries an array of potent, entertaining, sometimes lethal concoctions. To name a few: various powders and liquids meant to cause the imbiber discomfort, such as sporadic farting, belching, itching, and laughing. Among the more deadly items are several lethal poisons that, when given in just the right dosage, can cause paralysis, unconciousness, blindness, and sometimes death. She carries smoke capsules that enable her to escape with ease. Disguised as jingling bells upon her hat, is a molecular scrambling device she "borrowed" from the lab of one of her father's associates. It enables her to appear and disappear at will simply by pressing one of the activation switches hidden amongst the ruffles of her collar and gloves. The device is completely useless without these pressure switches, so if her hat is lost in a fight, anyone that happens to pick it up will be unaware of its capability. She also makes good use of inhalants that enable her to recover small amounts of energy, heal minor wounds, and give her boosts of strength and accuracy while in combat. These inhalants are emitted in minor doses through the ruffles of her collar by activating yet another pressure switch hidden along the grips of her rapiers. The neck ruffle also acts as a sort of filter, keeping the air she breathes pure so that negative air borne inhalants have a slim chance of affecting her.

Though her jester costume is a bit hard on the eyes to some, she designed it herself. She also makes any repairs or replacements on her own, unwilling to order in bulk from catalogues to avoid suspicion.

Strengths & Weaknesses

Princess Pranks is human, inspite of her super powers. Therefore, she is prone to the same weaknesses as any other mortal being. She can be seriously wounded in spite of her ability to regenerate. Minor injuries heal very quickly. Severe wounds will still regenerate, but will take a bit longer, sometimes days before fully recovering. She has not yet discovered whether or not she can regenerate limbs.

The material used to make her costume is a special combination of leather and kevlar. It is flexible, comfortable, and provides some protection from fire and bullets, but not immunity. In some places, the material may be vulnerable to extremely sharp blades, provided she is struck with enough force. Her mask is custom made to fit her face, securely held in place, and shatter-proof. Therefore she cannot be unmasked unless she removes it herself.

For some unknown reason, possibly due to her one-time use of LAFF, she is highly resistant to mind control, but not completely immune. Therefore, her mind is nearly impossible to read. Those that manage to bypass the strong barriers of her mind will glean very little information in the process.

She is not completely immune to things that may be injested or injected into her system. Because she can regenerate, her body will fight such things, requiring higher doses than the average person. To her advantage, most people will not know this, and will not take it into consideration when attempting to neutralize her in such a way.

Perhaps the one thing she is completely immune to is possession, demonic or otherwise. Though she respects other's beliefs, she is not what one would call religious, she is more spiritual. She believes in the existence of alternate dimensions, spirits, demons, angels and the like. However, she does not feel she answers to one specific higher being. Years ago, during what her parents refer to as her "rebelious teenage phase" she went to a shamaness and had a ward of protection tattooed on her back, between her shoulder blades. To one with no knowledge of such things, it appears to be nothing more than an intricate tribal design. This tattoo, combined with the ceremony performed during the proccess, protects her from any sort of "possession" of her body, mind or spirit.

Trivia

Favorites: Oddly enough, she adores the color pink. Go ahead, gag if you must. She loves chocolate, citrus flavor, plain potato chips and anything that involves cake. She's a steak and potatos girl, none of that rabbit food nonsense. When she drinks, its either beer or something fruity, unless she's feeling brave, then its vodka. She prefers men, not boys. Her most prized possession is a "David Bowie's Greatest Hits" CD. Her favorite movie is "Who Framed Roger Rabbit". She still has a ratty, blue, stuffed teddy bear that she received on her fifth birthday. Ironically, its dressed like a jester. She prefers silver jewlery. Her favorite trivia game is "Fact or Crap". She likes poetry, scrap booking, and playing with matches.

Talents: As mentioned before, she's a dancer, gymnast and competes in fencing. She also has an impressive ability to sing, being a fan of just about every genre of music. Except rap. None of that crap....puhleeze. She knows a few slight-of-hand tricks that are great for confusing the hell out of someone whose had too much to drink. She's also very good with a paintball gun.

Hobbies: Causing trouble, making trouble, finding trouble, practical jokes, video games, hanging with friends, paranormal novels....too many things to list.

Just once, she'd like to see the Joker thwart Batman. Even if Batman does look good in tights.

She can't stand people that don't take "no" for an answer, and feels these people should be set on fire if they persist.

She loves dogs. And birds that can be taught to say colorful phrases.

Deep Thoughts By Jak

- "Get the last laugh....or die trying". (the phrase found on her calling card.)

- "Diamonds are forever? Please...diamonds only last until you get mugged." (a bit of random conversation at the D.)

- "I've been accused of alot of things....being desperate isn't one of them." (said after being on the receiving end of a really really really bad pickup line at the D.)

- "Side affects of standing near me may include but are not limited to: extended periods of laughter caused by extremely lame jokes, nausea, nervous twitching, embarassment, moderate to severe discomfort depending on what I slipped into your drink, and potential rectal discomfort depending on how far my foot makes it up your ass if you have it coming."

OOC INFO

As of now, Jak has only 2 costumes. The first is her Princess Pranks costume. The second, is her civilian look. As mentioned above, very few people know that Princess Pranks a.k.a. Jak, is the same person as Jaqueline a.k.a. Jackie. This is mentioned in her in-game bio. If another player has met one alter ego while she is dressed as another, and begins to act as though they know her, I will make every attempt to steer the rp in the right direction, or at least inform the person to read her bio. While I respect the rp style of others, I ask that Jak's secrecy be respected as well. Those that have a "special sight" and can see some of what lies behind Jak's secrets, I will respect that, but please do not attempt to force a scenario that attempts to completely "blow her cover". Any attempts at "god-modding" will be blown off. Though I am open to rping with pretty much anyone, I will resort to the /ignore command if neccessary. If you spot Jak, feel free to say hi! And please don't take anything I may RP as a personal afront OOCly. If Jak's being snotty, its RP, not personal. I am open to joining other player's story-lines. Just note that I also play hero side. So even though Jak is the villain I play the most, she may not be around every single day. for any pre-planned events, I'll need a heads up.
