Razzoriel is a Mutant Brute from the Freedom server. Considered by many as a "masterthief" in the Rogue Isles' crime syndicates, and as a "major villain threat" in Paragon City. He is the youngest of all Lord Recluse's Henchmen, but no one argues that he's the one with the most potential. Razzoriel's criminal record shows that his thieving skills has no boundaries, and his mercenary and rogues crew, The Razors, are one of the most skilled thieves around. His power to absorb any kind of energy in the enviroment and convert it into various types of energy to enchance his destructive power is feared among villains and heroes alike, since he hasn't shown any sign of limits in his powers.

Character History

The Career as a Low Street Thief

Little is known about Razzoriel's past as a low thief. Whatever is known is that he started his life as a pickpocket in Kings' Row in a very young age. In little time, he managed to save enough cash to try bigger stuff, like small frauds, forgeries and pickpocketing, his specialities. In little time he learnt that the most profitable thefts were the most daring ones.

His first big robbery, at the age of 17, was at Atlas Park Bank. In a daring move, he managed to breakthrough the vault with a gang of thugs. However, the plan was foiled by a small group of heroes. While trying to escape with a sack full of money, Razzoriel was stopped by a hero hovering in front of him. A single blast of energy from the cape was enough to get him down. The energy from the attack triggered a deep latent mutation in his DNA, that almost got him killed. Sent to the hospital, and later to the Zig, doctors diagnosed his case as "latent seizures".

Prison

Inside the prison, Longbow documents are rich in details of how was his life inside the Zig. At his first day, Razzoriel was forced to fight for his place. His mutation was still dorment, but started to show off slowly since his arrest. He felt invigorated for a short while when being exposed to sunlight. Electric currents from cable wires around the prison slowly faded away while he was near them, and looked like there was some attraction connected to him. Everything was very weird, but he felt like those things made him feel better, and in short time it would make him stronger.

During lunch time, Razzoriel got bullied by a group of prisoners, who wanted to have fun by kicking his ass. While trying to fight back, Razzoriel felt like every punch and kick landed on him, his fists became lighter to swing, yet heavier to his opponents. And every punch was stronger than the last. While feeling like being pummeled by a hand filled with lead inside, the prisoners were literally wasted, while Razzoriel was also extremely wounded from the brawl. Dragged by RIP officers to his cell, with a lot of bruises and a few cuts, Razzoriel started to re-create the fight in his mind.

How did he managed to beat 5 of the toughest Zig prisoners all by himself, and how was he able to create such powerful punches? It was time to put these unknown forces to the test.

The Awakening

Every day, Razzoriel absorbed a bit of energy from an un-jacketed wire next to his bed. By placing his hand next to it, he felt the electric current flow inside his body, yet without harming himself. The situation would change if he touched it; he would get shocked, but would still absorb the energy. With every time lapse he spent absorbing it, he tested his own strength. With 30 minutes, he was able to lift a heavy rock placed inside his cell for a while. With 2 hours, he was able to lift the same rock above his shoulders, with a lot of effort. With 6 hours, he was able to lift it with a single hand for sometime.

This was a good way to start some workout, since the idea was to teach those cowards that ganged him how a true fight in the streets is done. At sleeping time, he attached the wire next to his bed, so that the electric current would flow through it without risk of an electric shock.

The next day, Razzoriel left his bed late, on lunchtime. Waking up for lunch, he went to the Zig' restaurant (that looked more like a trash depot). This time, the same prisoners who gave him the beating, brought up a big group, all armed with lead pipes, wood clubs and the like, and started chasing him. The first guy was almost landing his pipe on Razz' head, when he clenched his fists and punched him hard at the chest. The blow was so hard he was left disoriented, coughing up blood. He realized his hands were glowing red after clenching his fists, and then he ran to the prison's outside. Luckily, he was able to lead them into a bright sunny day outside the prison. The guards tried stopping him, but every prisoner worth his pants knew that RIP guards are total idiots, so the only thing they were trying to do is catch him, while leaving the mob alone. Receiving all the sunlight radiation increased Razz's strength enough for him to throw a heavy wooden crate at them, while a few others dodged and continued the pursuit. With one of the gang landing an overhead hack with a lead pipe to Razz's head, he fell on the ground. Almost unconscious, Razz regained his senses and woke up to tear him up with a flurry of punches, imbued with a weird red glow. A one-two punch was enough to shatter some of his teeth.

Razz knew that he had to do something to leave the Zig, otherwise he would get killed by the local gang. He ran back to his cell, and grabbed his things: it was time to escape, even if he would risk his own life.

The Escape

Razz was in prison for only a few days, but even then he had some "friends" inside to lead him out, if the payment was good of course. However, he didn't had a single dollar in his pocket, so he resorted to brute force. Some prisoners knew where the prison's mainframe was, and by following his contact, he broke inside the room. Guards trying to stop him were met with Razz's heavy red-glowing hands in their faces.

Tearing the equipment in half with a single overhead strike, he saw all the sparks of electricity slightly fade into his body. With some concentration, he pulled all of them, and felt a strong electric shock in his body. But instead of frying him, it only gave him more power. The shock was harmful to his body, but not enough to kill him, and within seconds, he felt like he was at his full power. With a single punch at a brickwall, a big hole was created. Razz knew that those effects last only for a short time and fade away with time, so he jumped outside and ran upstairs towards the main wall. There, he started punching through it. The holes made were big enough for him to go through, yet much smaller than the last one (since his power was fading). The siren rang, and then guards started to run towards the hole, while prisoners looking at that big crater on the wall with Mercy Island at sight, all were enough to create a big mayhem with fugitives and busy cops.

Swimming towards Rogue Isles' shore, Razz was "rescued" by an Arachnos boat crew, only to be interrogated for why he was leaving the prison without proper acknowledgement. Making up a story of how the Arachnos' organization was their gang's supporter, they left him without much problem at Mercy's dock. Razz's swift tongue once again saved his behind.

Razzoriel, the Masterthief

He had to restart business into a villain-filled place with no other way to earn money but work either for Arachnos or start his own gang. With some errands done, like beating the crap out of some Infected and Snakes, together with some side-thieving, Razzoriel managed to get solid contacts, from corrupt cops to mad scientists.

In Atlas Park, Kings' Row and Grandville were Razzoriel's biggest targets. His slippery nature managed to thieve important artifacts from these locations for criminal organizations, mainly Arachnos, as they were the best customers (high payments). All was going well, and Razz was able to start his own operation branch; a gang of mercenaries known as "The Razors". Those were highly skilled thieves, burglars, assassins and mercs hired by him to do the dirty jobs in his place. With acknowledgement of the Rogue Isles of his professional work and undoubtfully skilled talents, "businessmen" would bid for the use of his services. Of course, Razzoriel himself would play his part if it demanded too much of a skill job for them. In a short time, he was known in Mercy Island as "The Masterthief".

The Eluvium Chains

Mostly, Razzoriel's powers were beginning to be clear: he was able to absorb any kind of energy in the enviroment, as long as it entered contact with him. Kinetic, electric, pure, radiation, solar, thermal and even gravitational or magnetic energy. The more aggressive the energy, the more it would empower him. However, the absorption was always lower than the raw input he received, meaning he could absorb only partially those sources, and his body would be damaged in the process, probably. However, his absorption is like a short-life, empowered battery: it increases his power exponentially up to a certain extent. If there's no energy in the enviroment to be used, Razzoriel uses his own metabolism as a weapon. However, this generates much lower power.

He already had a pretty impressive offensive tool; his mutation. However, he still was just a normal human: gunshots could kill him, concussive forces and any kind of energy, although could be absorbed, still would damage his body. Cuts and bruises would still hurt his flesh. In a contract mission with Arachnos, Razzoriel needed to steal a hovercraft prototype from Longbow. It was believed to be in a secret base in Perez Park, it's entrance near the swamps. Breaking in, Razz did his job like almost everyday theft. Arriving at the prototypes room, and surrendering the scientists, he saw many prototypes of stuff he never heard or seen before. However, time was short. The alarm was already on, and soon the area would be filled with Longbow. As a good looter, Razz managed to escape with the prototype ("Works very well, thank you losers!", he said while escaping using the same hovercraft) and a heavy metal crate, labeled "Eluvium Chains".

Arriving at Mercy, Arachnos' spot, he delivered the hovercraft to the arbiter he dealt with. The artifact he captured with him, however, was his spoil. At first glance, the chains were like almost every other metal chains, but had a vivid teal color. Upon touching the chains, Razzoriel was able to effortlessly create a powerful electric current around it. Also, it was harmless to him when he did it. On closer examination, the crimson electric current was in fact part of Razzoriel's own energy flow, converted into electric force. Very weird, he thought, but then again, he would find out soon that those same chains would save his life.

During a mission to steal a powerful artifact from a group of Freakshow, he was discovered by some of the gang. Fighting his way to the exit of the building, with the chains he stole wrapped on his waist, he fought a fearsome Freakshow Tanker. With a powerful swipe from his gigantic claws, he cut through Razzoriel's flesh, but by some weird reason, the eletric current from the Eluvium encircled his body, absorbing some of the impact. Although Razz still suffered a deep injure from the attack, he was able to fight back with his fists and quickly dispatch him with his superior skill.

Deciding to wrap it around his body, as a "talisman of good luck" like himself labeled it, he soon found out that any blow delivered to him was softened by a great margin when the currents were encircling his body. Later on, Razzoriel would find that these same electric energy flowing through the chains could be manipulated at his will. He couldn't convert his energy into anything other than a red-glowing destructive energy before.

The chains were throughly examined by Arachnos scientists, by Razzoriel's demand. Delighted by it's power, Razz would find out as his career of villain progressed, that the Eluvium chains not only unlocked his dormant ability of creating protective eletric currents, contrary to his belief of thinking that the chains provided this feat, but also could be manipulated by assorted ways, like distorting gravity itself. Lord Recluse, hearing from his henchmen of a talented youth with a promising future, granted Razzoriel the right to be his own henchman, with the promise of creating an armor entirely made by the same alloy. Of course, he accepted, with the condition of not having to disband The Razors.

Today

At 22, Razzoriel is the youngest of Lord Recluse's henchmen. His power increases by every mission given to him and he's seen handling both his job and his gang, The Razors. Recently, a Razor tried to take Razz away from his throne, spreading rumours that with his pledge of allegiance to Recluse, he would soon eliminate all Razors, but he has been missing for sometime. Many believe Razz himself shut his mouth for good, and others that he has left the gang after not finding many followers. The merc gang is one of the most feared around the Rogue Isles, with their primary activity being theft and robbery.

Razz is seen around Grandville and Sharkhead Isle, doing errands for his contacts and trying to earn some money stealing, robbing and fighting other criminal groups for power. Lord Recluse has Scirocco to keep an eye on him, since any hint of conspiracy should be dealed with. However, Razz has shown more than once his loyalty to his master.

Personality

Razz is unlike many Brutes. He's a swashbuckler type of man. He shows no fear, and likes to mock his opponents, like capes (his favourite type of target). His easy-going nature, combined with a steel nerve, makes him a very fearful opponent, and yet a very capable and valuable ally, as well. Although all of this could make him the perfect killing machine, he isn't ashamed of running from a battle he knows he will lose. However, he always likes his opponents close and personal, where he can smack them dead. This sometimes makes him lack prudence, sometimes biting more than he can chew.

He's considered a very dangerous villain, but he doesn't like having to kill innocents, unless he's paid for it. Not that this feels "inhuman" to do it, but it's rather like a question of personal honor: it feels like "unworthy" to kill someone who can't show a good fight or challenge.

If Razz is in a theft mission, however, he shows a completely different side: cold-blood and no-mercy are good dual-words to describe him during such events. He shows a complete lack of feelings, and is focused on only finishing his mission, even if it requires killing innocents. If needed, he also disguises himself very well, mimicking others quite accurately.

Off-action, he always seems to try to improve himself. Seeking both combat training and thieving secrets, it's said he was teached by many famous villains before entering the Zig. His hobby is honing his thieving, be it with hacking security codes, or lockpicking.

Powers

Arachnos Patron RangedAoEModerateDmg.png Energy Absorption Arachnos Patron RangedAoEModerateDmg.png

As stated before, Razzoriel is able to to absorb any kind of energy in the enviroment, as long as it enters contact with him. Kinetic, electric, pure, radiation, solar, thermal and even gravitational or magnetic energy. The more aggressive the energy, the more it would empower him. However, the absorption is always lower than the raw input he received, meaning he can absorb only partially those sources, and his body would be damaged in the process, probably. Also, Razz can make his own kinetic energy by his own combat moves, increasing his own energy as long as he keeps hitting them. This kind of energy is absorbed much better, and increases his power. However, his absorption is like a short-life, empowered battery: it increases his power exponentially up to a certain extent. If there's no energy in the enviroment to be used, or he isn't producing his own kinetic energy, Razzoriel uses his own metabolism as a weapon. However, this generates much lower power. A true sight to fear is when Razz attains full power: a true killing machine.

Energy Melee

Converting any kind of energy in contact with his body into destructive energy on his fists, Razzoriel is able to deliver powerful strikes. From single punches to overhead strikes, his power combined with his hand-to-hand combat skills makes him a deadly opponent to be dealt with.

PowerPunch EnergyPunch.png Energy Fist PowerPunch EnergyPunch.png

With minimal focusing, Razzoriel infuses his fist with pure energy and delivers a powerful and direct punch. Weaker foes can be left dizzy with the sheer power of this quick, but effective attack. It's also worth noting that he can distort the kinetic energy involved to perform this move, so it strikes with much more power than a human of his size and strength would. Razzoriel has mastered this attack with such perfection that he's able to create a slight psionic distortion in his fists. This makes the victim take intense damage to his mind, while still suffering the physical damage from the attack. However, this is a very difficult technique, and Razzoriel is only able to trigger it sometimes.

SuperStrength Jab.png Duo of Pain SuperStrength Jab.png

While it's slower to perform than sending one straight punch, a one-two combo is one of the most used moves of Razzoriel. Simple, yet extremely effective. Energy channeled in Razzoriel's fists is divided equally between both fists when performing this move, so while it's quite obvious using one fist is much better because of the quickness, it isn't as damaging, since Razz also takes opportunity of the kinetic energy momentum in both arms.

PowerPunch BoneSmasher.png Skull Masher PowerPunch BoneSmasher.png

A much more powerful strike, where Razzoriel tries to link both gravitational and kinetic energy into one single overhead smash at the target's head. This attack often disorients his targets. However, this requires much power to perform. The attack leaves his defenses wide open, but this isn't a completely bad thing at all, since Razz needs the energy dealt in the form of attacks at him to reach his peak of power. Like with Wing Ripper, sometimes Razz is able to distort the gravitational energy in his target, knocking him up for a moment.

PowerPunch BuildUp.png Energy Pull PowerPunch BuildUp.png

This technique is very difficult to perform, as it needs all of Razzoriel's concentration to be successful. This consists in pulling every type of energy in the environment to his body, in an attempt to perform an overload. However, instead of storing inside his body, the energy is left free at his fists. Although it dissipates very quickly, the power attained with this move is very high.

PowerPunch Flurry.png Whirling Dervish PowerPunch Flurry.png

The attack was named after Razz' mentor, Scirocco. It consists of a spinning punch to the ground, that shakes the ground with sheer energy power. Any nearby opponent takes damage from this move, and weaker ones are also left disoriented. While this attack is fairly simple to perform, it demands more energy since it's intended to use the ground as a conduit to the impact.

PowerPunch EnergyTransfer.png Final Blood PowerPunch EnergyTransfer.png

This is Razz' complete mastery over his power. His metabolism is able to generate his own energy to power his attacks, even though it's much weaker than not absorbing any kind of energy. But he's also able to convert his own blood into a catalyst to burst energy forth his foes. The impact is so high that the damage can implode a normal human. The open-handed strike has the intention of diffusing all of the burst of energy as quickly as possible through it's target, to decimate him quickly. There's a limit to this move, however: Razz can only convert a certain amount of his life blood into this strike, and performing this while he's wounded can be reckless.

Electricity Armor

The Eluvium chains grants Razzoriel the ability to use his own energy into electricity. This force protects him from harm, and is mostly used as a defensive power. However, it can be manipuated as a field of aggressive electricity that damages all nearby foes slightly over time. There's a rumour that Razzoriel's contact with this material has been for long enough for him to absorb all it's properties and be no longer dependant on it to make use of this ability. However, he still is seen using it from time to time. It's possible that although he can mimick the Eluvium's property, he still isn't able to do it perfectly, so he wears the chains around his body as precaution.

ElectricArmor SelfBuffDefensePhysical.png Eluvium Shield ElectricArmor SelfBuffDefensePhysical.png

On contact with Razzoriel, the alloy called Eluvium converts his energy into a powerful charged magnetic field around himself. It attempts to reduce and nullify the most common types of energy not absorbed by him, like kinetic, electric and nuclear energy. Holes in this type of field include thermal, psionic and Netherworld energy. The energy spent to keep this field on is somewhat trivial, but it can and will tire Razzoriel in time if it's kept on in the midst of combat. However, it's almost unvaluable to reduce significant wounds taken by bullets, hand-to-hand strikes, lightning bolts, and others.

ElectricityManipulation LightningField.png Lightning Aura ElectricityManipulation LightningField.png

While Razz can't emit his energy around his body (except his fists), he can transform it into lightning energy with the help of the Eluvium chains and still keep it's original destructive form. This creates an impressive and chaotic field of shocking electricity around him that damages any enemy around. The damage done is enough to shutdown any high-electricity demand circuitry, like mainframes and electronic devices, if kept near enough for a period of time, as well as synapses of nearby foes, slightly and slowly draining their neuronic activity. Naturally, this demands a lot of energy from Razzoriel, so he can get tired very easily by keeping this technique on.

ElectricArmor SelfResistMez.png Neural Shield ElectricArmor SelfResistMez.png

By keeping his synaptic activity protected by a powerful static microfield, Razzoriel is nearly immune to any damage done to his neural system. Stuns, synapse drains, psionic attacks, mind damage, everything is very well-protected by this microfield. It isn't impenetrable, however, and Razzoriel can still have his neural system damaged if an enemy decides to keep punching a hole in his defense.

ElectricArmor PBAoEEnduranceDrain.png Energy Leeching ElectricArmor PBAoEEnduranceDrain.png

Razzoriel's body is a living energy battery. But he can't convert this energy into fuel for his organism. So the energy stored in his body can be divided into 2 groups: Power and Fuel-type energy.

Power-energy is every type of influence over his body that can, even if minimally, damage him or enter contact. The more aggressive this type of energy comes into contact with him, the more Power-energy he absorbs, increasing his strength and destructive force. This increase is only temporary, and will fade with time, if Razzoriel doesn't find a way to receive it or to unleash it in the form of attacks.

Fuel-type energy is the energy that lets living things do anything, from walking to jumping. This can be anything, from metabollic energy of living beings' cells from energy reactors of robots.

This move concept is to drain the Fuel-type energy off foes. Razzoriel realized that to keep his peak performance, he needed a way to keep this type of energy always in top-shape, as well as his stamina and constituion. His attacks demand a lot of Fuel-energy to perform, and his electric shields weren't different. In constant attempts to manipulate his command over electric energy, he developed a very complex move that drains the Fuel-type energy off foes by violently draining it, as he creates a "faux-energy-black-hole", as himself describes. This move wipes this energy to fuel Razzoriel's body. Although for some reason Razzoriel can't convert his Fuel-type energy into Power-energy, he can get back some stamina lost from constant combat.

ElectricArmor SelfBuffDefense.png Power Form ElectricArmor SelfBuffDefense.png

The ultimate mastery of Razzoriel over this kind of power is the transformation of his living matter into electricity. This renders him extremely enpowered defenses to all kinds of damage, although this doesn't grant him extra psionic energy defense. This transformation is short-lived, but ends in a very powerful EMP pulse that drains all his stamina. Considered by him his last-resort against big groups of capes or tough targets.

Abilities

These powers and skills are not related directly to Razzoriel's mutation or electric armor, but relate to his personal training and/or equipment.

Flight ArialAssault.png Wing Ripper Flight ArialAssault.png

This overhead slam is very similar to Skull Masher, and has the exact same motion. However, this move has an entirely different purpose. The attack is much easier to perform since it doesn't imbue Razz's hands with energy, so it deals less damage to his opponent. But it's imbued with a faint electric energy, invisible to the naked eye, that creates a very quick gravitational distortion: the victim loses it's feet with the power of the attack and gets knocked at the ground. The static discharge released with this attack renders their body stuck to the ground-level. This is exceptionally useful against flying opponents, as Razz can get the upperhand this way. If the victim is already flying, the gravitational distortion sends them to the ground, and they're unable to fly again as long as the discharge sticks them to the ground.

ElectricArmor SelfBuffRunSpeed.png Hasted Reflexes ElectricArmor SelfBuffRunSpeed.png

Razzoriel's thieving training, combined with his superior synaptic system (thanks to his electric armor), gives him very high reflexes. This allows him to dodge most Immobilizing effects, and gives him increased attacking speed and dodging. Together with his superior running speed, his reflexes allow him to reach inhuman speeds.

Flight TravelFlight.png Flying Flight TravelFlight.png

Although a semi-new discovery, Razzoriel is able to negate the gravitational energy around his body. This enables him flight; useful to move from one area to another.

Medicine SelfAdministration.png Medicine Stimulant.png Customized Class-Y Medic Conversor Device (MCD) Medicine SelfAdministration.png Medicine Stimulant.png

A trinket handled from the Arachnos organization as a good-will gift, this converts Razz's body energy into healing waves created from the device. This heals his own body wounds, from cuts to psionic damage, in a very good extent. The same device can also create a benefic electroshock that frees his allies' from effects such as Stuns, Immobilize and Holds.

Weaknesses and Limitations

Razzoriel has no means to protect him against thermal energy. His attempts to create an electric shield that resists this kind of damage were almost all a failure. Still, he can absorb a small part of it to his own Power-energy.

His electric armor has a magnetic field around him that prevents knockback effects, but only when his feet touch the ground. Once he's in his flight mode, he's vulnerable to those attacks.

The lack of powerful skills to deal with lots of enemies at the same time brings a powerful limitation to Razzoriel. His fists alone aren't able to punch multiple enemies at the same time, so he's forced to either rely on his Lightning Aura or his Whirling Dervish techniques, both of which aren't that powerful, although the first is able to damage multiple enemies effectively in long-terms.

It still takes a while for Razz to pull his MCD and use it on himself. He's vulnerable to enemy attacks while he does it, and can get interrupted if a timed attack hits him while he's activating the device.

Equipment

Eluvium Chains

As stated before, Razzoriel possess an artifact made of Eluvium, a rare kind of metal that absorbs and transforms energy into eletric and magnetic fields. As Razzoriel's body is constantly emitting and absorbing energy from the enviroment, the chains react to his mutation, creating multiple kinds of electricity protection around him. Not only that, but the metal is virtually indestructable once it's attached one into another, so the chains are unbreakable, unless a powerful destruction affects the chain as a whole.

It's unclear why Razz was lately seen performing those same skills without the chains around his body. Speculation from other villains using similar powers report that Razzoriel developed a secondary mutation while being with constant contact with the metal, and learnt the same skills with some training.

Eluvium Armor

Created by Arachnos scientists, the same metal used in the chains was re-created as an astounding full plate armor. The incredible light weight and material hardiness protect Razzoriel from many kinds of attacks, but has the downside of draining Razzoriel's power to generate intense electric currents around him. So as long as Razzoriel wears this armor, all the protection that the electric energy granted now is granted by the Eluvium Armor, with the same cost in his stamina.

The armor also comes with a cape and empowered Eluvium batteries around the waist line. Those are emergency-only breakable spheres that grant Razzoriel a defense invisible magnetic field around him for a while.

Thieves' Tools

All kinds of gadgets, keys, hacking sequences, virus-embedded archives inside a storage device, and many others, are stored in Razzoriel's pack. Although he isn't seen carrying it while he's on missions, it's known that he resorts to it once in a while.

Costumes

Costume 1: Standard operations outfit. Razzoriel equips his Eluvium Chain around his upper body to protect him, and wears some pieces of armor on his tighs and feet. Wears a red outfit below the chains with a mask, together with some white lightning stamps on the shoulders.

Costume 2: Eluvium Armor outfit. Now without mask, Razzoriel wears a bright teal full body armor, together with a black and white cape, possibly a memento from a cape he killed. A teal sparkling aura can be seen from Razzoriel as he wears the armor. The Eluvium alloy in full contact with his body absorbs all tries to use electric energy skills to protect himself, so Razz relies on the armor protection to defend himself.

Costume 3: Razors' outfit. A black sleeveless jacket, with a longsleeve red shirt. Both shirt and his black pants come with white stripes resembling razors. His hands have black wrappings, and acquire a red glow, coming from his energy absorption.
