Childhood and Education

Born at the dawn of integrated circuit and with parents working for an electronic engineering subsidiary of Crey. Philip Evens was destined for a promising future. But promising it seems was not enough for the fates to settle for. 3 chromosomal shifts catapulted synaptic development 10 fold. With an IQ of 168 and early admission to Paragon City’s Institute for Advanced Studies the future was bright. But fate again wanted a word in edge wise. One year from completion of his doctorate the Rikti invaded Earth and both of his parents died during an experiment on captured Rikti technology. The accident was never fully explained and with no bodies were ever recovered rumors abounded. Crey made very sure that Philip never able to ask questions and with their stonewall response the now Dr. Evens set out to insure that the world never had to fear the shadow beyond the void.

Botcom and Revenge on Crey

Doctor Philip Evens took the money gained from the settlement and founded Botcom Inc. A firm with the mandate to replace the now aging and inferior Security Drones of Paragon City with a newer and more efficient system. The system that his team created combined portion of reengineered Rikti energy weapon technology, Freakshow cybernetic interfaces, and a semi organic mineral found exclusively under an island in the Etoile chain or more infamous known as the Rogue Isles.

The project swept aside all other offering including one put forward by Crey Industries. That night a great explosion rocked the Botcom complex, armored power suited infantry invade the complex destroying everything with wild abandon killing every employee they come across. Evens having lost an arm to an explosive grenade manage to activate the only undestroyed prototype and repel the invaders from the complex. But Botcom was to never be resuscitated and Crey Industries being the next lower bidder received the contract and the social vindication that the so desperately needed after an investigation into possible illegal experimentation with thought to be dead heroes DNA. Evens was convinced that Crey had attack the Botcom complex to destroy him and his friends in order to gain the lucrative contract. That they failed to total destroyed the one person who posed a threat to them must have been a sour note. So he began a quest to destroy Crey and avenge his fallen comrades, his parents, and all those lives Crey had destroyed.

Using the advanced technology at his disposal he remade his damage body into a powerful killing machine and forged new weapons to help in his fight for vengeance. In the following weeks and months 16 Crey facilities fell to a mysterious force of robotic warriors commanded by a figure lurking in the shadows. But Evens now using the title RedPhalanx became overconfident and set his sights too high. In a raid to destroy Crey’s new prototype for the security drone project he was captured by a group of Paragon City heroes and later sentenced to life imprisonment in the super villain prison the Ziggurat.

It was there in his cell that he saw who his true enemy was. His enemy was the heroes of Paragon City who allow Crey to exist even when that company is ruthless in maintaining its lead and superiority. He vowed to himself that if he ever had the chance to destroy Paragon City he would take it and destroy those that would pick and chose who would be saved and who would be cast aside…..

Breakout and Joining the X-Patriots

From a recovered X-Patriot Data Core

The Arachnos troops boiled over from every corridor blasting the power repression fields that keep the prisoners in check. I had heard of Arachnos from other villains in prison they were some kind of super villain group operating outside of UN’s control as a sovereign nation. The door to my cell was blown open by a chuck of C4 allowing me to escape and make me way to the high security storage area. When I was first sent here my robot arm which contained the control device for my robotic servants was replaced and stored with the only battle drone to survive the fight with the heroes that captured me. I knew that my tech would be stored in the Zig with the other entire insidious technology taken from other villains to keep it out of the hands of the “innocent”. Those that did have access to it were to take it apart and use its advances to further the control of the heroes of Paragon City over those who would not or could not stand against them. I was able to quickly hack the electronic lock on the door leading to storage area. Well, well! If I ever find who planned this raid for tonight I will thank him/her/it maybe a nice fruit basket. Silly heroes as you could break the encryption blocks buried in every main subroutine!

My battle drone lay on raised table plugged into the labs computer core in the process of downloading its AI system. Still they had tried and that had to have some repayment. I retrieved my arm from its container and activate the drone systems. Before I was captured I had altered all of my servants’ reactors with a small surprise for anyone foolish enough to tamper with my bots. Activating its movement system and sent it on its faithful way into the bowls of the prison. I broke open the weapon storage cage grabbed the photonic rifle I had been captured stealing from a Crey weapons lab. Ah, thank you bureaucracy for demanding that all evidence of superhuman crimes be stored in the same secure locations as villains.

I then proceeded to kill my way into the main yard and approached the Arachnos craft and tried to climbed aboard.

“Hey you can’t just get in you have to prove yourself worthy of being rescued!” screamed the Arcahnos Warrior in the yard

“I wouldn’t waste time on formality now in about 7 minutes the Zig will become a Zip when the power core is breached by my battle drone. This place will be incinerated in a 10 kiloton blast!” I yelled to him and the other prisoners

That set in motion a scramble into the transport. I accidentally bumped into a rather savage villainess who then tried to take a bit out of me in return. Thankfully she tried it on my metal arm leaving only slight scratches. I believe that her name was Charmblaze. The transport lifted off shortly and turned towards the sea. A few minutes later the craft was rocked by the pressure wave of the blast. I only hoped that a few heroes were in the blast area, their med port would not have had time to teleport them to safety. Hours later the transport landed on Mercy Island. As I began to explore the surrounding area I discovered a card of a black and red pattern. It held directions to a location that an “x-patriot” could find vengeance against those that did wrong in the name of good. That sounded right up my alley. After hacking the local net for the local robotics firms so that they could make some "donations". I set out to correct the injustice of the heroes of Paragon City no matter how many bodies leave behind.

Current Activities

RedPhalanx has faded many times from the main stage of the X-Patriots but has always returned when help is needed. Most recently with the return of the Rikti, RedPhalanx has sent a portion of his robotic warrior to battle the aliens in their new stronghold. He remains a steadfast supporter of those he considers to be the true heroes. The faces may change and comrades lost but the spirit can never be destroyed.
