This character was born out of my desire to give Storm Summoning another shot, lot's of bad stormies out there, wanted to see if I could get it right. The actual character, the personality, of Rein is a meld of The Question and the film version of The Spirit (yes i actually enjoyed the movie). I've done a lot of darker character's and Rein was my first crack at something i always thought would be fun, a conspiracy theorist.

The Now

Recently, Reinhold appeared in Paragon...

Who was he before, what is he now, what is he striving to become? All questions unanswered. The only things he seems to care about is the Truth, and finding it no matter the cost.

The Hollows

After some brief activities in Atlas Park, more specifically the Sewer Network, and King's Row, Reinhold and his new friend Red made their way to The Hollows. There, Red spoke with a member of the PPD and they were quickly off to clean the streets and clear a few old haunts used by the Outcasts. This lead to working with Flux who in turn lead them to Frostfire, a leader within the Outcasts. As far as Red was concerned, they were just busting up a few gangs, cleaning the streets and whatnot. Reinhold however, was doing it for far less noble reasons. He was under the distinct impression that the Outcasts would lead him to his next breakthrough, and if anyone was going to know more, it would be Frostfire. His findings pointed him to a Faultline....

Faultline

Frostfire didn't say much, but the scraps of paper he'd left sitting in his base were more than enough for Rein to go on. Following their leads, he went to Faultline, asking Red to join him (she makes for a wonderful diversion). Again he did some grunt work, moving his way up with the contacts, playing their game until he saw what he was after. His first break came with Nocturne. Before destroying her sub, he managed to find documents detailing the PCM device and it's intents. However her documents only contained limited information, so he worked his way further into the Faultline community. Next was a young Miss Yin, gifted psychic and somehow connected with the Clockwork King. This simply begs the question of how a young girl with such power is allowed to sit quietly in a desolate area such as Faultline instead of teaching her to use such power for something more. Perhaps they fear she can't be controlled....

In anycase, the two (Rein and Red) eventually got involved with Captain Castillo of the Sky Raiders during an assignment from Doctor Delilah, a lovely woman who seemed to be in search of the same thing as Rein, the Truth. They discovered that the entire Faultline incident was a lie, cleverly created to place blame on an innocent man, typical. Pawns are moved, innocent lives crushed, those that lurk in the shadows retain control.

After Delilah came Agent G and the PCM got a new face. Longbow attempted to mislead us, saying the device was of sudden importance and must be destroyed. We battled Castillo, Nocturne, and the Arbiter Sands repeatedly for information, eventually leading to the devices "destruction". I've kept a small piece of it, hopefully an important piece.

Truth.

Men occasionally stumble over the truth, but most of them pick themselves up and hurry off as if nothing ever happened. ~Sir Winston Churchill

Reinhold got a glimpse of Truth once, he's yet to elaborate on what it was, but according to him, once the Truth is felt, once it's seen, it's like a drug. After his briefly glimpse of the Truth he's made it his life's work to find more, to get as much of it as he can, and finally reveal it to others.

Truth also happens to be the origin of his power. They say knowledge is power, and in his case the knowledge is dark, hence his power is dark to match. He seems able to manipulate the darkness and shadows to an unknown end, using them to render his foes immobile and gasping for life.

Red

Since his first semi public appearance in Paragon City, Reinhold has been in the presence of a young woman by the name of Ruby Phoenix, or as he's come to call her, Red.

What started off as nothing more than a pair of people out trying to make a difference, grew into an unlikely friendship. Red and Rein spend a great deal of time together, and due to a recent attempt on her life, this has only increased. She's now living with him in one of his safe houses.

The two have exhibited an undeniable chemistry for some time now, but both persisted to being only friends, and it was true. They were drinking buddies, smoking buddies, gambling buddies, and run around beating on bad guys buddies, no more and no less. Recently that's changed, time will tell if it's for better or worse.

Personality

Rein is an odd mix of paranoia and flirt. On the one side, he believes that his knowledge of the Truth makes him a target, this has yet to be proven, and because of this, he is in a constant state of readiness and alert. Often seen looking over his shoulder or monitoring a room despite it's apparent innocence.

On the other hand, women beware. Rein tends to sweet talk most women that get near him, or at least try to. Sometimes it's for information, sometimes just to make a woman feel good about herself, sometimes for more. To that end though, he remains very polite and courteous to almost everyone he meets.

Then there's the detective, always thinking, always deducing, always trying to figure out what's really going on. It's these varying portions of his personality that can cause him to seem distant at times.

Sightings and Rumors

((this portion is basically for anyone that's met Rein and in meeting him has helped spread the rumor that is his existance. Feel free to add in personal notes or feeling regarding him, or short stories, fun stuff like that :) ))

((OOC Stuffz!))

1. Rein covers his face in shadows the majority of the time, he doesn't blanket his face, but he keeps the darkness there just enough to make visibility impossible.

2. He is able to sense darkness and shadow. Hence if you walk up behind him and you cast a shadow, he probably knows you're there.

3. Writes a small column piece for multiple newspapers circulating Paragon entitled "Lines that Blur" under the name of Renholder.

4. His mind is complicated, psychics that go snooping around often find themselves scouring a labyrinth of darkness and twisted corridors, figuratively speaking. However, when he becomes aware of any mental intrusion, he can bring horrific and twisted images to the mind of the intruder, said images have done untold psychiatric damage in the past.

5. Has a relatively obvious attraction to Ruby Phoenix although neither of them really act on it.

6. Things change, people change, Rein will probably change. So i'll try and keep this updated ;)
