Parents and Early Life

Ryley Sharp was born on January 24, 1981; to father Alan Sharp, and mother Sue Sharp. His father was a British man who had lived in Port Oakes for several years when he met Sue Cippriani, an Italian-American woman who had close ties to the Marcone Family. When the two got married, Alan began running drugs for the Marcone's after a good word from his new wife. The money was good and it provided a level of security uncommon in that area. Shortly after Ryley was born, his mother decided that a life of crime was no place for her and her new child. Unfortunately the Marcone's saw things differently and Sue was never seen again.

Ryley, now living with his father, found a trumpet in the garbage one day and began to play it occasionally. His father discouraged this and beat him for it. Ryley dreamed of being a great Jazz Trumpet player and found some old records with great songs on them from composers such as Benny Goodman and Count Basie.

Becomming a Head-Buster

As Ryley continued through school he did odd jobs for the Family, just delivering messages mainly. Then one day, when he was 14, he was met by a group of Mooks while en route to deliver one such message. The Mooks pushed Ryley around and started to hit him, he felt more and more angry and then suddenly he snapped and started beating each of the shocked Mooks until they no longer moved. Ryley soon realized what he had done... every single one of them were dead. Ryley ran home and told his father what had happened. His father, who couldn't be more proud, immediately told some of the higher-ups in the Family. Obviously this caught their attention. From that point on, Ryley did a different kind of work for the Marcones.

Moving up in the Ranks

As time passed and Ryley became stronger and stronger, he was promoted to one of their top head-busters. All was well and good, Ryley was making good money and was learning to have fun by cracking bones under his fists. Soon his dream of playing the trumpet faded into the background...

One day the Marcones decided to offer Ryley their pure form of Superadyne in return for all of his dedicated service over the years. They were taken a-back when he refused. He noted that he was strong enough without it, as he had defeated groups of the Family in sparring matches, all of whom had used Superadyne. The Family took this as an insult and in return thought that Ryley was no longer to be trusted. They put out a hit on Ryley.

The Turning Point

Later that night, the hired hitman approached Ryley's bedroom with near-complete silence. Near being the key word. Ryley heard the slightest creak from his hardwood floors and rose out of bed, barreling to his bedroom door. He flung it open and saw the would-be hitman standing there in shock. The last thing the hitman ever did was to plead for mercy, but mercy doesn't come that easily. Seeing now that his loyalties had been misplaced for years, Ryley left and went into hiding. He hid in the best place he knew, inside of a bottle. His father, on the other hand, was the new target of the Marcones and was not as lucky as Ryley had been.

Evasion

Ryley Outside of a Bar.jpg

Ryley drank himself into a stuper nearly every night and day. The only time he left his new residence, a shabby apartment in the "bad-side" of Mercy Island, was to make his daily stumble down to the corner liquor store to restock. On one such trip, Ryley ran into a Longbow Agent who tried to arrest him for being intoxicated in a public place. The Agent was quickly met with a large fist to his face, knocking him instantly unconcious. Unbeknownst to Ryley, another person saw this act from the shadows. Iceciro moved out from his hiding spot and approached the hulking mass that was Ryley Sharp. He noted Ryley's strength and also his generally distasteful smell and demeanor. "Ice" as he's known to his friends, offered Ryley a job. He could help him start up a Refuge for criminals on the run and provide them shelter and a chance at revenge. Ryley smiled at the thought of revenge and happily accepted his offer.

Time With Iceciro

Ryley worked with Ice for a long period of time, although he started as nothing more than hired muscle, he soon moved up to be Ice's right-hand man. Ryley got cleaned up, although he still drank too much on occasion, and even started playing the trumpet again. He has been known to play in the Pocket D on rare occasions. It's quite apparent that he has a lot of talent for playing, but he notes most of the time that guys like him don't really get many opportunities other than being a face-smasher.

Life After Iceciro

Iceciro, after trying to combine the powers of Lord Recluse and Statesman, went into a coma and is emitting cosmic energy. Ryley, after essentially losing his job, decided that it was time to turn his life around. He decided that he was tired of taking orders, something he had done all of his life.

Ryley got a tip from an anonymous person, this person told Ryley that Emil Marcone was the one who ordered his family's death. Ryley revisited his old home and remembered that which he had tried to forget, all of the pain that he suffered throughout his childhood. He had spent his entire life trying to ignore pain, but this was a pain that just cut too deep.

Ryley decided to set out to do something that he had been putting off for far too long. He found Emil Marcone's son and killed him and then told one of his lackeys to return to Emil and tell him, "[Ryley's] back, and [you] better watch out, 'cause [he's] commin' for [you]!" Having declared open war on the Family, Ryley had a new task in front of him. Waves of Family lackeys were sent to take Ryley down, but he laughed as he slaughtered them.

The Final Showdown

Ryley went to Emil Marcone's house, dispatched the guards out front and in the lobby, and made his way to Emil's office. He burst through the door and was immediately shot 6 times in the arms and torso, but he was a man on a mission. Ryley walked up to Emil as he was reloading his revolver, knocked the gun out of his hand, and grabbed him by the neck. Ryley proceeded to beat and torture Emil Marcone for all of the pain that he had caused over Ryley's lifetime. As he was about to land the finishing blow, Emil started squealing like a little girl and begged for mercy and for his life. Ryley thought about it for a second, and then thought about how his mother probably screamed and begged for forgiveness before she was "taken care of", then he looked Emil Marcone dead in the face and said, "You don't deserve to live."

Emil Marcone would never see another sunrise or separate another family.

Moving on

After Ryley killed Emil Marcone, he felt a great weight lifted from his shoulders. He felt as though he could finally move on with his life, and that's exactly what he did.

He met a woman by the name of Megan Rogers, a resident of Paragon City who was on vacation in the Caribbean, with whom he fell in love. She was an optimist of the highest level. She was sweet, kind, and innocent...and she had the power to cut through Ryley's strength with her smile. She was not a heroine, nor did she have any super-powers, and that's why Ryley loved her so much. He could protect her, and she needed him.

Finally she convinced Ryley to move to Paragon City with her. There he got a stable, legal job and he finally realized his dream of being in a jazz band. Life was finally good for him, and for once in his life, he was truly happy.

One day, Megan and Ryley went out for a walk through Paragon City, just taking in the beautiful day. They sat down on a bench for a while, and then Ryley said that he needed to run into a local store to pick something up. She told him that she would wait for him, and off he went. He turned the corner and went into a jewelry store to pick up an engagement ring that he had bought a few days before. He got the ring and walked back outside, he heard a lot of commotion and then gunshots, a car sped around the corner and passed him, then another right after it. Ryley quickly ran around the corner and was stopped in his tracks. He saw Megan collapsed next to the bench, he ran over to her to find she had been shot twice in the stomach. He screamed for help, but no one came. Then he leaned down and told her it was going to be O.K., and that he was going to go get help. "Hold on" he said, "Just hold on." Ryley raced down the street and found a group of Longbow, "She got shot, she's dying! Please, PLEASE call for help!! You have to help her!" he cried, the Agents turned around and suddenly one of their faces got very serious. He got on his radio and said, "It's Ryley Sharp! We need back-up now!!" The three Agents tackled Ryley to the ground and restrained him, he was screaming "Help her! HELP HER!!" over and over again, but his pleas fell on deaf ears. As he was being restrained he looked down the street and saw Megan with her arm outstretched, then her arm fell to the ground...Ryley knew that she was dead. At that moment, he could not even fight back. He went completely silent and tears streamed down his face as they loaded him into the truck.

The Trial

It took the jury less than 15 minutes to find Ryley guilty of the 743 charges brought against him. He was sentenced to life without parole, and all of his possessions were confiscated in order to repay some of the damage that he had done. He said nothing throughout the trial, he only sat there and stared off into nothing with a dismal look on his face. The police put him in chains and transported him to the Zig where he sat in his cell in silence.

The Break

His mind; however, was anything but silent. He thought about that fateful day until the image burned and festered in his mind. Over and over he saw her die as the Longbow took him to the ground. He drowned out the sadness with a deep hatred. A hatred that cannot be expressed, something so deep and dark that only those who have had everything taken from them, those who are truly at the bottom of the darkest pit, could understand. He filled his heart with a savage lust, not for money, but for death. Death, not just for heroes, but for everyone. He no longer had a code that he lived by, he only saw vengeance.

One day he finally stepped out of his cell when they called for recreation time. This was the first he had set foot out of his cell since he was incarcerated three weeks before. He walked out of the building and into the light, then he kept walking towards the fence. The guards in the towers called out to him to stop, but he did not listen, they fired warning shots but he did not flinch, he climbed the first fence and was shot twice in the back. He fell over the other side and slowly stood back up and continued walking. Two more shots. This time he was hit in the shoulder and the back of his right thigh. He kept walking towards the secondary fence. Four more shots. He was hit in the calves of both legs and twice in his left thigh. He dropped to the ground. Then, as he let out a scream, he dragged himself to the second fence and began to climb. He was shot once more in the back and twice in the left arm, but he still climbed. As he fell over the second fence, two jeeps pulled up and four prison guards got out. They surrounded him and told him to stay down. He began to get up, as one of the guards attempted to hit him in the back of the head with the butt of his gun, Ryley grabbed the weapon from his hands and shot two of the guards in the head. As he turned around he fired three more shots, one of which struck the third guard in the throat. Ryley used the gun to help himself up and then looked at the unarmed guard who was standing there in terror. Mr. Sharp pointed the gun at the guard, who proceeded to beg for his life. Ryley got a wicked grin on his face and shot the guard 12 times in the face. He climbed into one of the jeeps and drove off.

A Life of Hate

Ryley returned to the Isles as a changed man. He had no remorse, and no hesitation when killing anyone. He used whatever weapon was at his disposal and no longer stopped at just injuring someone, all who stood in his path were put through the hell that he faced everyday and were then snuffed from existence. He was seen brutally beating several people to death and even going after their families. He no longer had any qualms about killing women or children, good people or bad people. He no longer wanted money, he merely wanted to kill.

The Death of Ryley

Ryley Sharp, having given up on life and wanting nothing but death, finally got his wish; however, it was not as he had imagined. He was chasing down a young woman who had recognized him and was trying to find Longbow Agents to arrest him when, all of a sudden, there was a bright flash in front of him. He noticed that the sky had turned a sickly green and standing before him were 12 Rikti. He had fought Rikti plenty of times and had no trouble dispatching this small bunch...but then he noticed something that he had never seen before...the Rikti Mothership was flying! So many heroes and villains were so focused on fixing events that happened in Ancient Cimerora, that no one had paid much attention to the Rikti and their ship had been repaired. It was moving slowly through Cap Au Diable and leveling bulding after building, killing thousands. Suddenly Ryley felt something inside of him that he had not felt for quite some time. He felt an overwhelming desire to do something, something to help these people. At that moment he saw the young woman he had been chasing and for a flash he saw his beloved Megan staring back at him. His eyes filled with tears for an instant, but then he realized that the young woman was about to be killed by a group of Rikti. Ryley sprang into action and dispatched the Rikti. He offered the woman his hand but she screamed and ran off. Ryley looked to the sky and felt that he had to act fast in order to stop the Rikti from completing the task they started so long ago. Ryley took to the skies and landed on top of the Mothership. He was quickly surrounded by hundreds of Rikti and was nearly overwhelmed. Soon, others came to his aid, both heroes and villains alike. They fought off the Rikti on top of the ship and began strapping bombs to the ship. They had just finished planting the last bomb when another horde of Rikti appeared. All of the villains and all but one of the heroes and Ryley took flight, figuring that the deed was done and the ship would be taken down any second. Ryley and the hero were about to take off when Ryley noticed a swarm of Rikti Monkeys moving towards the bombs. He and the other hero began obliterating the Monkeys but soon Ryley was pinned by a Rikti General. "GO ON, GET OUT OF HERE, IT'S GOING TO BLOW!!" Ryley screamed to the hero. The hero saw that Ryley was in trouble, but he also saw the look in his eye that told him to go. The hero took off and Ryley was impaled by a Rikti sword. He screamed in pain, but then managed to free himself of the grasp of the General. He began scrambling to a bomb that a horde of Rikti Monkeys had just dislodged, he stamped his foot and knocked the Monkeys down, then grabbed the bomb from them. He took off towards the vent where the bomb was previously planted and tossed it in. He turned around and was impaled three more times by Rikti. He felt the sting, and the blood dripping from his lips. He looked to the sky and, as his eyes welled up with tears and blood, he saw his angel, and smiled for the first time in months. He felt her touch, and then the concussion of the bomb, the searing of his flesh...but it did not hurt as he thought it would, instead he felt at peace.

The Deal

Ryley was not allowed into the domain of the Gods because of the life that he had led. However, the Gods smiled upon his act of selflessness and offered him a way to pay for his sins. They told Ryley that he would be granted new life if he used it for good. He was to protect others and do good works, if he did so with joy in his heart, then the Gods would smile upon him and he would be allowed into their kingdom. They granted him a divine shield in which to aid in his journey. The rest, they said, would be up to him.

Rebirth

Ryley is now a resident of Paragon City and vows to protect civilians and heroes alike.

Known Abilities (Pre-Death)

Ryley has no "Super-human" abilities. Granted, his strength is far superior to that of your average person, but it is not supernatural. He has merely trained himself to the peak of perfection, and pushed himself to the limit of human strength.

His ability to fly has been questioned many times; this is achieveable by any human, the power lies within us all. It requires rigorous training and dedication to master; however, once you achieve total physical and mental perfection, it is not difficult to mold the world to your bidding.

Known Associates

Iceciro [[1]]

Ryley's former boss, he's now in a coma. Ryley has severed all ties with Iceciro and vows to never work for anyone again.

The World Eater, DuLimmar [[2]]

A warrior from another planet, Ryley and DuLimmar share a similar affinity for hitting things.
