Interrogation Report

//Detective Karl Leery reviewing the case of James Towers.
[Leery]: Mr. Towers, you were found at the scene of the crime by a residing officer at 2:30 A.M., March 17th-
[Towers]: May I ask what crime you are speaking of?
[Leery]: Mr. Towers, do not interrupt me. As you very well know, you were found at the same place and time as the murder of //FILE_CORRUPTED// Eyewitness accounts have you leaving the building at around the time the coroners have placed the victim's time of death. How do you explain yourself?
[Towers]: Did the building not have any video surveillance?
[Leery]: We have looked over the tapes. One moment the victim is sitting in his chair, the next there is a gaping hole in his chest. The perpetrator obviously found a way to be invisible to our cameras-
[Towers]: Well that sounds awfully fantastical but-
[Leery]: Mr. Towers! Interruptions will not be tolerated!
[Towers]: I-
[Leery]: Is that clear?
[Towers]: Yes, yes of course.
[Leery]: Now, is it or is it not true that you once worked for a company capable of producing such stealth technology?
[Towers]: That is correct.
[Leery]: Did you or did you not acquire such technology during your employment there?
[Towers]: I did not.
[Leery]: When taken into custody, large quantities of medications were found on your person. For what use did you have planned for these?
[Towers]: I have prescriptions for all of them. As for why I had them on me at the time, that is none of your concern.
[Leery]: Were you on any of these medications?
[Towers]: I don't have to answer that.
[Leery]: So lemme get this straight. You were found at the scene of the crime, probably on drugs, and-
[Towers]: I'll have you know I was entirely sober.
[Leery]: Do not interrupt me Mr.-
[Towers]: I will do what I damn well please! Did I have anything on me at the time that would associate me with the death?
[Leery]: We found portal tech hidden under your sleeves-
[Towers]: Was there a weapon!?
[Leery]: No, but, do not int-
[Towers]: Was there a motive?
[Leery]: We haven't yet-
[Towers]: Is there any physical evidence or eyewitness accounts of me even being near the man!?
[Leery]: Well, no-
[Towers]: Then this is all ridiculous! I'm done here! Let me go.

The True Story of Samuel Cooper
Many of the following details will be scant because, well, Sam never tells everything!
Humble Beginnings
Sam was born in the American south to a perfectly functional and loving family. He had no special powers or extraordinary talents to speak of and simply lived like everyone else under the poverty line. However, living in poverty led Sam to have a determination that few others could match. With this drive in mind, Sam left his family at the age of 18 to travel to New York in hopes of making a name for himself. He had no idea that said name would be one he would never be able to live down...
A Rocky Start
Sam experienced a harsh reality check when he arrived in New York. With nothing but the shirt on his back, Sam had nowhere to stay and thus spent many nights living under bridges while he searched for a job. He became desperate, searching for any way to make money so he could survive. One thing led to another and Sam began running errands for the Family, a mafia group in area. He wasn't proud of what he was doing, but it gave him enough money to just barely survive. But it didn't take long for Sam to do more than just survive...
Growth
At the age of 19, Sam began to develop some unusual powers. At first he simply began to develop a photographic memory, allowing him to remember events in fine detail and learn at a vastly accelerated rate. Sam dismissed these new abilities until the day he was betrayed by a Family member and, at point-blank range, shot. Directly in the heart. Left for dead, Sam spent roughly twelve hours under the bridge where he was murdered. Until he woke up.
Rebirth
Sam awoke with the sun slowly rising over the horizon, a hole in his shirt, and blood caked across his chest. However, Sam was unharmed. Confused, Sam stumbled out from under the bridge and assessed his situation. He knew that he should be dead. He even remembered the bullet ripping through his heart. There was no possible way for him to be standing now without so much as a scratch on him. Slowly realizing what had happened to him, he pulled out a pocket knife and, carefully, cut the back of his hand. The pain was excruciating, more than it should have been, but the wound healed before his very eyes. It was then that Sam knew what had to be done.
Over the next couple of weeks Sam completely remade himself: new birth certificate, driver's license, name, everything. He even bought a teal tie and matching sunglasses so that he would be remembered not as Sam but as someone entirely new. Samuel Cooper died under a bridge in New York. James Towers emerged from the ashes.
Rise of a Monster
Sam, now known as James Towers, had nothing but contempt for the world around him - the world that had abused him his entire life despite his desperate efforts to succeed and left him under a bridge to die. Sam used this hatred to drive his efforts like never before. He stole multiple college textbooks on business and law, studying them fervently for months until the material was ingrained into his mind. He then forged a college diploma for himself and got a decent job working for a relatively unknown business in the heart of New York.
However, 'decent' wasn't good enough for Sam, and it certainly wasn't good enough for James. Sam delved back into the Family affairs, taking dangerous jobs and quickly rising to a place of respect in the Colombo family. He used his connections with the family to locate potential job positions in other corporations and would, via the use of Family members or his own doings, "vacate" the position so that he could fill it in. Sam used this method to quickly advance up the corporate ladder. Pretty soon though, Sam found a way to climb the ladder even faster.
Going Nowhere Fast
Sam's affairs soon caught the attention of a man known only as 'The Shadow,' an operative for Malta with connections across the globe, a deadly knack for combat, and a very expansive knowledge of Sam himself. Needless to say, the two quickly became close associates. 'The Shadow' even supplied Sam with a stealth suit, allowing him to carry out assignments that would otherwise be impossible. Over the next twenty years, James' infamy spread across the underbelly of New York like a wildfire, and 'The Shadow' simply fanned the flames.
Wake Up Call
Sam's success soon went to his head and he began to treat the Family - the people who had helped him become who he was - like dirt. He would frequently deviate from set plans and would even ignore them from time to time.
After years of suffering through Sam's haughtiness and being forced to watch him succeed while they remained at the bottom, the Family had had enough. They began by burning down his home and, over the course of a few weeks, systematically killed everyone Sam knew. 'The Shadow' ceased communications with Sam, who assumed he was dead, and Sam began to realize that his life was spiraling out of control.
Sam sold all of his remaining possessions, changed his name back to that of the long-dead Samuel Cooper, and, not looking a day over twenty-five despite his time spent in New York, moved to the Etoile Islands with nothing but his money, a suit, and his pair of teal shades. It was time to reinvent himself once again.
Powers, Weaknesses, and Everything In-between
Samuel Cooper
- Regeneration Sam heals wounds at a vastly accelerated rate, able to take blows that would otherwise kill a normal man. Sam abuses this power to an almost masochistic extent to shock and awe opponents. In fact, it's a common tactic for Sam to take a blow, like a stab to the chest, simply so that he can get closer to his opponent. However, the more Sam heals, the faster he gets tired; eventually leading him to collapse out of exhaustion.
- Sensitive Nerves Sam's healing brings with it both a blessing and a curse: His nerves are highly sensitive. This leads to advantages such as being able to open a safe with ease. It also leads to disadvantages such as feeling pain much more acutely than normal. Sam usually dulls this power via the use of various pain killers or, in some cases, alcohol.
- Accelerated Comprehension Everything about Sam is faster than the average human being. His skills of comprehension are no exception, allowing Sam to learn at an extremely accelerated rate. In fact, he learned how to speak Fae in a matter of months.
- Incredible Fitness Sam's muscles are constantly repairing themselves and becoming stronger. As a result, Sam is extremely athletic. It may not be superhuman, but it's close.
- Katana Finesse A notable result of Sam's increased comprehension and athleticism is his knowledgeable skill with a katana. He can't deflect bullets or move it at superhuman speeds, but he can certainly do some damage.
Stealth suit & other equipment
On his own, Sam is a formidable foe. With his equipment, Sam becomes downright dangerous.
Stealth Suit
- Stealth Sam's stealth suit is, obviously, capable of bending light around him, rendering him virtually invisible. He can still be seen if someone is particularly observant...
- Energy Discharge Sam's stealth suit discharges large amounts of energy at all times, mildly shocking those who touch it and even Sam himself! Sam uses this electrical current to his advantage, letting the current keep him focused and alert while he is under the effects of pain killers.
Other Equipment
- Pain Killers Sam always has pain killers of some sort stored on his person. As mentioned before, these are used to dull his overly sensitive nerves.
- Katana Stored in a portal under his sleeve, Sam's katana is incredibly sharp, able to cut through the toughest of metals. Although Sam has never had a sword break on him, he is always prepared with extras.
-Comments-
((Feel free to add IC comments and such))
Sam's a cool guy, I guess. He drinks way too much coffee, pops way too many pills, and has way too many friends. He lives his life in excess, you could say. Somehow it all seems to work for him: he's fun to hang with, a mediocre dancer, and solid as a rock in a fight. Granted, I don't get shit done when he's around, but hey, it's not like Pocket D is the best place to bring a laptop if you expect to work.
Cailie Circuit was here.
