Hunt for the Rubric

The Rubric of Ahriman is an ancient network of impossibly powerful soul prisons. It is also the reason that the Gods and Goddesses of the Greek Pantheon did not step in when their religion was in decline. It originally had hundreds of prison devices that operated as part of the network, but all but 40 were destroyed by a coalition of Titans and Olympians. However, the creator of the Rubric unleashed a spell that trapped all of the marauding deities within his magical creations. All of the Greek deities' souls were trapped in the remaining soul prisons.

Tartarus and Zeus were both trapped in the Well of Furies and Prometheus's essence was imprisoned in an enchanted ruby. The other gods' prisons are unknown, as they have yet to be discovered.

All of these objects were hidden throughout the world.

Tartarus and Zeus were the first to be freed from their prisons

Affiliations

The NSA- Seem has often disappeared from the limelight for varying amounts of time, though there has never been an official explanation. Due to his ability to shapeshift, Seem was tapped by the NSA early in his career to be trained as a double agent with a speciality in dangerous metahuman organization, particularly ones in high society. This is where a large number of Seem's combat and espionage-related skills come from.

Various villain groups-Seem has contacts within the Malta Group, Knives of Artemis, The Council (Ernesto Hess), Arachnos, the Outcasts (Flux), the Trolls (Julius the Troll), The Circle of Thorns (Akarist), and possibly others.

The Defenders of Paragon

In 2007, Seem joined up with the Defenders of Paragon. During the 2nd Rikti Invasion he found himself fighting back to back with Red Switchblade and Liquidus, two of the core members of the supergroup. Together, the three of them beat back the Rikti trying to over run the University in Steel Canyon. Seem, being unaffiliated with a supergroup at the time, was offered a place in the Defenders. He accepted the invitation and has been a member ever since.

Personality

Tyler

Tyler was the dominant part of Seem's personality, being the vessel for Prometheus's essence. Very down-to-Earth, Tyler tries to see both sides of every story, regardless of personal involvement. However, his powers left him with an inflated sense of confidence and this manifested as arrogance.

Prometheus

Prometheus is a denial of the deific stereotype. Prometheus always speaks his mind and has caused more than a few fights because he insulted the opposing party. He also hits on just about every woman he meets, which became a burden for Tyler, since Prometheus's comments often border on lecherous. Despite these negative traits, Prometheus possesses a wisdom honed by millennia of existence, and deep down, he has a kind, caring soul.

Seem

The fusion of Prometheus and Tyler's consciousness. Seem as an entity himself only recently came to be. As Tyler has grown more accustomed to his existence as an avatar, his personality slowly has become more and more like Prometheus's. As Seem is the result of a nearly perfect fusion, he is far more powerful now than he was when Tyler and Prometheus identified themselves as separate entities. Seem exhibits both the wisdom of Tyler and the mischievous nature of Prometheus, but has unfortunately retained Tyler's ego.

Powers

Being the avatar for a Greek God, Seem has a shocking array of power at his disposal. However, despite having these powers for quite awhile, he has not fully mastered them and is therefore not at his full potential.

Pyrokinesis

Seem's main ability, his pyrokinetic prowess is incredible. He can fashion cages of flame with a mere wave of his fingers, hurl balls of fire, and even create funnels of heat so powerful that they can melt through protometal. He has also been known to 'explode' in extreme circumstances. Seem's pyrokinetic abilities are derived from Prometheus's inhabiting his body, who had harnessed the ability long ago.

Flight

Seem's flight is a result of his understanding of physics, minor telekinesis, and his pyrokinesis. The method that he uses would take pages upon pages to explain but suffice it to say that he doesn't use simple combustion propulsion to fly.

Telekinesis

Seem's telekinetic ability is somewhat limited, but he has learned how to use what he has quite well. While he doesn't have the sheer might required to lift something like a crate, he is more than capable of chucking glass bottles across a room. However, his telekinetic dexterity is nothing short of remarkable. He has even been seen making shapes with water in Pocket D to impress some of his drinking buddies.

Character History

June 25th, 1972-Tyler is born to Joseph and Lucy Anderson.

August 1980-Tyler takes an interest in Greek mythology after visiting the British Museum.

'May 1990-Tyler graduates high school at the top of his class. After having burned himself out during his high school career and with no idea of the kind of direction he wants to take his life in, Tyler takes a year off before going to college. He travels the world with a band of like-minded teenagers, doing community services projects across the globe. When asked later in life, he would refer to this time as one of the happiest in his life. During the course of his travels, he makes a variety of contacts that would later prove useful.

September 1991-Tyler attends Paragon City University and double majors in Archaeology and Political Science.

Summer 1995-Having finished his Political Science education in 3 years, Tyler is free to focus completely on getting his PhD in Archaeology. He accepts an internship from Crey Industries at one of their sponsored dig sites and travels to Greece to spend his summer working there. For the first few weeks, it is fairly unremarkable aside from a few discoveries that would mean nothing to anyone but a scholar. However, as time progresses, it becomes apparent to Tyler that Crey is searching for something specific. He keeps quiet about it until he stumbles across what they are looking for. He finds a map to an ancient set of tunnels. Suspecting that this is what Crey had been looking for, he goes to investigate on his own. He eventually finds his way into a massive antechamber

Trivia

-Prometheus and Tyler can only communicate non-verbally when in combat because of a mistake that Prometheus made when entering Tyler's mind.

-Prometheus speaks with Tyler's mouth, albeit in a much different voice.

-Apart from using Tyler to speak, Prometheus can't control Tyler's movements. (Long story short, the power it took to make Tyler a suitable vessel for Prometheus's soul was too much for Prometheus to handle after being imprisoned for 2500 years, so the fusion was imperfect.)

-Tyler's favorite kind of drink is Scotch.

-Tyler has amassed a large fortune from his inventions, endorsement contracts, and massive monetary compensation for helping the Omega Team succeed in their mission.

-Seem owns a private island a few miles off the coast of Santorini in the Greek Islands and a coastal mansion in California, but he mainly lives in a penthouse in Paragon City.

OOC stuff

-Most of Seem's personality is a reflection of my own, only magnified to an extreme.

-The Hunt for (and War of) the Rubric has actually been totally planned out in my mind. I may even have an RP PvP event to mark the end of it. Seem knows who the villain is, but I won't toss away good RP material, so if you want to know who the villain is, search Seem out in game and have an RP with him.
