Official History

According to Longbow, the anonymous vigilante known as the Silicon Sabre arrived only recently to Paragon, like many other new heroes. Unlike most, however, Sabre seemed to have an agenda from her previous superheroing career, one that linked an old nemesis of hers with the infamously "unconnected" branch of Crey Industries. While not yet cleared to face Crey itself, her goals seem distinctly geared towards taking on the unofficial branches of the megacorparation. Currently allied with the growing supergroup Riot Force 6.1, Silicon Sabre continues to fight crime and injustice with the group while trying to uncover the links between her past and Crey. She leads a growing team of similarly themed female heroines under the banner of the Sabres of Paragon, a subset of the larger Riot Force 6.1.

While legally considered human, Silicon Sabre(actual name: Sylia Stingray) is anything but. A GENOM Systems BU-33S model BUMA(Bionic Unlimited Machine Android), Sabre was constructed on behalf of GENOM's officially disavowed black operations division MIDNIGHT, at the behest of the organization's mysterious leader. Assembled alongside duplicates of three other heroes, the thorns in GENOM's side known as the Knight Sabers, Sabre and her teammates were intended to be utilized in a smear campaign against the anonymous heroes, allowing GENOM to up the heat on the group that so openly defied them.

A dimension away on Primal Earth, however, Crey Industries' spies in Portal Corps had recently taken an interest in this otherdimensional corporation and its rather effective arms industry as related to buma. But when a chance tip alerted them to the existence of the extremely advanced(and highly illegal) 33-S models, the Countess Crey sensed an unparalleled opportunity and authorized a full armed raid. Under the official story of "accidentally" discovering a weapons lab while being contracted to escort a research team into a parallel Earth, a squad of Paragon Protectors was assigned to raid the GENOM lab, seizing the four 33-Ss before their programming was complete and relocating them to secret Crey Biotech labs. With the Paragon Protectors coming under increasing scrutiny due to the inroads made by Longbow and other heroes, Crey needed a new source of potentially super-powered shocktroops that couldn't be linked genetically to MIA and KIA heroes. The eternally re-designable 33-S series, able to mimic a human to the smallest detail(including superhuman abilities) but unidentifiable if captured, would be invaluable.

Crey's attempts to reverse engineer the 33-S series proved futile, however. Whatever GENOM's patented processes did to develop the highly-illegal life-simulating machines, Crey couldn't quite understand, and the Countess, impatient for results, ordered that the project be retasked to weaponizing the seized material. The incomplete hardsuits were finished using modified Crey battlesuit technology, and the beginnings of control programming were implanted into the neural nets of the four false Knight Sabers. Which was where things went wrong.

Sylia, the farthest along in her programming at the GENOM lab, had enough running processes to recognize the programming for what it was, her ICE software combating and deleting the Crey attempts at reprogramming. However, as her GENOM code had not yet been completed, she was left with primarily the personality and memories of her template. Realizing just what she was fairly quickly, she escaped, taking her refurbished armor with her.

Alone and with an identity not her own, Sylia took up the pseudonym of the Silicon Sabre as a means to get a hero's liscense in Paragon. Her closest ally at the time was Lady of the Peace, the leader of Riot Force 6.1, who was originally the only person in Paragon who knew her whole story. With little left to her, she threw herself into the hero lifestyle to protect the helpless, and to search for the closest thing to a family she ever had.

Sabre Searching

The first break in the case would come from one of Riot Force 6.1's informants, identifying a seemingly nondescript transport group leaving an undercover Crey facility. Lady of the Peace and Silicon Sabre raided the transport, dealing with several hired guns around it, before one pressed a kill switch, activating the imprisoned Sabre inside, Nene, as well as her Crey-fashioned control programming. A short battle later, Nene was incapacitated and taken to a hospital where her programming could be undone. She soon joined the team as Net Sabre.

The second reunion occurred during the height of the Rikti's renewed invasion of Paragon. Their bombing runs within King's Row upended the truck carrying Priss and sent it hurtling off the road. Waking up almost amnesiac as to how she got there and in her armor, Priss reacted to the Rikti attacking her on instinct, and was still fighting them when Sylia and the others found her. After the Rikti were driven off, she was overjoyed to rejoin her teammates, taking the name of Street Sabre.

The final Sabre to be recovered was Linna, but records regarding her seemed to vanish into midair. Fearing that she'd perhaps been shuffled even deeper due to the seizure of the previous two Sabres in their possession, Nene continued searching until she found links to one of Crey's top researchers. Following him home, they discovered Linna had in fact been stolen from Crey by the researcher, and an armed rescue with the assistance of Legendary member Knight of the Peace pulled Linna out of his clutches, despite the intervention of Crey's security divisions and Paragon Protectors on site. Suiting up, she took on the moniker of Dance Sabre.

Since then, the small team has become a subset of the growing Riot Force 6.1, taking the name Sabres of Paragon (mostly due to the fact that the name "Knight Sabers" was registered already by a small time superteam that was just active enough to keep it copyrighted). Experienced and skilled, the four Sabres tend to act as specialists and occasional mentors to younger members, while Sylia is just happy to have her family back again.

Sabre Renaissance

Though all four originals escaped from Crey, the corporation was not content to just write off the effectiveness of the four heroes from their profit margin. Further raids via Portal Corp expanded Crey's half-understood manufacturing capability for duplicates, based on extensive analysis made of the four originals. However, Crey's imperfect ability to control them has led to a variety of outcomes, from loyal soldiers in the Rogue Isles codenamed Project: Scimitar, to braindead or insane malfunctions that were recycled back into parts, to full on defectors that have become heroic Sabres in their own right. Feeling responsible for so many new lives being thrown out into the world as an attempt to reclaim herself and her team, Sylia has made it a priority to find and recruit as many of these new Sabres as she can. A subset of Riot Force, unofficially nicknamed Sabres of Paragon, has been formed within the supergroup, placing Sylia and the older Sabres in position to mentor the younger ones until they're ready to defend themselves against a Crey Corporation still stinging over their loss.

Spoilers end here.

Riot Force Resplendent

As Riot Force 6.1, formerly a small supergroup that Sylia had joined due to its low profile, has grown, Sylia's contacts with the greater superhero community have also expanded. Sylia has personally assisted several of the premier supergroup, The Legendary, and regularly teams with several in the group. Her membership in Vanguard has resulted in a considerable expansion to her former low profile, which she has rapidly adapted into a refuge in audacity to protect herself and others from Crey: she's simply too high profile to vanish without a trace. Engagements in the Shadow Shard and the past of Cimerora have vastly expanded her experience beyond the primarily technological and city based combat that she was previously experienced in.

Relationships

Teammates

Sabre is on good terms with her teammates in Riot Force 6.1, though other than Lady of the Peace and a select few others, none know the face behind the helmet and her real motivations. As a founding member, Sylia is close friends with the group's leader, Lady of the Peace, and she and Sell-Sword have a mutually forged respect for one another, though they rarely team. Though her need for secrecy has diminished as her ability to defend herself and her family has grown, Sylia still maintains a tight secrecy about her identity that lends her an air of mystery to those that she has not deemed fit to know the face behind the helmet.

Original Sabres

Sylia's old team is the closest thing to a family she has due to her origins and memories. While taking on something akin to the mothering role in the group, her protective edge towards them is much more visible since she's found them again. While previously a subtle mother lioness towards anyone that would hurt her girls, Sylia is not quite as subtle now, and woe be to anyone that would seemingly threaten their safety, as they will gain her attention, and violence, immediately. She is also feeling her way through a new romantic relationship with teammate Street Sabre, which, for all the additional complications it causes, brings her considerable satisfaction at the end of the day.

Knight Sabres

Sylia is still learning to deal with the burgeoning numbers of Sabres that have resulted from Crey's numerous attempts to reclaim the original Sabres, but has adapted well to the expanded capabilities of her team. At present, her primary concern is training the new Sabres to defend themselves, as well as handling thorny issues regarding the secret identities of certain ones who resemble names thought left behind, or buried, in the original Knight Sabers' pasts...

Powers

All of Silicon's powers are based in the technological marvel that is her hardsuit. Its gauntlets fire both immobilizing taser darts and have extendable wrist blades for close combat. The suit also boosts her strength, agility, and damage resistance far above human levels, while a jumpjet pack can provide her with true flight for short periods of time. As Sylia has further modified her hardsuit to her own specifications, its capabilities have expanded. The original durability is augmented by implanted shield generators. Sylia currently maintains multiple backup suits in case of severe damage, at least two of which mount Vanguard Talsorian energy blades in place of the wrist blades. Of late, modifications to the blade gauntlets have also given them limited force projection abilities, allowing Sylia limited range capability to augment her close quarters combat abilities. Several temporary travel packs, such as a Sky Raider Raptor Pack and Zero G jump pack generally collect dust in Riot Force's storage, though Sylia still has access to them for analysis and incorporation to future upgrades.
