The Skypiercer wound up being the lucky one of the pair. Sometimes being a jerk means that you can handle things others can't.

Skypiercer was formerly second in command of the Circle of Dawn's research division. He has, since then, manifested divine powers, and chosen to break off from the Dawn and take control of the Circle of Twilight, establishing a separate ethos for some former members of the Dawn. He and his brother are not on good terms, and have occasionally been seen arguing. Current rumor is that Pyridai is also on hostile terms with the Dawn's resident goddess.

Personality

Pyridai's personality varies, on occasion. Starting as an isolated hermit whose only interest was in his weapons, he mellowed a little after a fight with Kailani Minamino, in which the woman began to share his space frequently. He mellowed considerably more on his 18th birthday, upon the forceful awakening of his heritage. The events that occurred conspired to turn him into something with enough charisma to lead by example and to keep the various faces that make up the new Twilight in harmony.

History

Pyridai was raised in Britain for his first five years. His father requested they be transferred back to the States for his education on his fifth birthday - however, they frequently would cross the Atlantic for trips and occasional weeks of needing to be there for various duties. During these days, Pyridai began to notice things that his family did not - the people that protected and watched them, mostly, developing a severe and carefully hidden crush on one of them.

His life before Paragon was generally unpleasant - he learned quickly to take care of himself via cunning and not strength, and, above all else, that he was the only person he could ever rely on. Those eyes on them did not care if they were roughed up a little, as long as they didn't die. Dai wound up extending this to every person, and developed a certain amount of misanthropy.

When the boys were 15, they were transferred to a private school in Paragon. From here, Pyridae discovered the Dawn, and both brothers eventually wound up signing on when they felt they were ready.

Unlike the Starpiercer, the Skypiercer made a conscious decision and worked toward making it true instead of merely deciding on a whim to do what he could. While both brothers have always displayed intelligence above and beyond their peers, Dai's focus has generally been on hard sciences and how to make them work together. This led to the creation of more than one piece of equipment for the Dawn, along with what's now known as the Graviton powered armor. Pyridai favors his own unique suit of combat armor, instead of the Graviton.

His personal life went poorly, however. While he maintained perfect scores in his classes, his schoolmates found him unpleasant to be around, because he did not suffer fools gladly, nor did he care to make friends at all. Where Dae made friends, Dai alienated them. He was consistently reprimanded by the Dawn for his attitude toward his companions, especially Kailani. This culminated in a fistfight between them, then a grudging acceptance that birthed a mildly twisted sort of affection.

Powers

Sunstriker Assault Rifle System

The Sunstriker is a heavily modified version of the Dawn Knight standard-issue ranged weapon, the Thunderbolt Mass Driver. While the Thunderbolt is solely an automatic assault rifle, the Sunstriker is considerably more modular, and more accurate, though it sacrifices sustained fire rate to achieve this. It remains a mass driver rather than a firearm - a man-portable railgun. Like the Thunderbolt, it uses chunks of metal for ammunition, shearing off individual shots and weighting them for accuracy after compensating for current conditions, and the Sunstriker is fitted with a nanite factory, designed to retrieve scrap metal in order to maintain ammunition supplies.

The Sunstriker needs to be slaved to a heads-up display for maximum effectiveness. The default setting is an assault rifle, set to fire five round bursts. Kickback is designed to assist in steadying the weapon, allowing all five shots to be clustered within one inch at one mile. If the trigger is held, the weapon shifts to fully automatic fire, overheating at 40 shots fired in rapid succession and requiring significant cooling before the automatic mode will activate again. Secondary modes include venting superheated air away from the user, toward the enemy (causing severe burns); firing a larger, fragmenting round into enemy positions; firing a spray of blunted shrapnel for impact damage; firing a solid oversized round; and firing a superaccelerated round, allowing for extremely long range engagements, allowing the Sunstriker to be used not only as a main combat weapon, but a marksman's weapon as well.

The Skypiercer assault armor has compensation and calculation systems built in that allow the Sunstriker to better compensate for long range fire, nearly doubling the effective range of the weapon when the suit is worn. (It is thought that Dai's contact suit also has these algorithms, and that Dai can also perform them on the fly.)

When stored, the Sunstriker collapses into a roughly 1ft x 4in x 2in rectangular box, and is able to return to combat ready within one second of activation.
